These shoes are testing my love of hoka. Bought myself my third pair for my birthday in September. Submitting them for warranty after I publish this review. The pads on soles keep peeling off.
Everything else is great. Love the color. They stayed waterproof during the wet PNW winter. Just that issue.

Love the shoes, they are exactly what I was hoping for in a winter training shoe BUT after 2 weeks of light running to break them in (< 15 miles total - road exclusively) the sole of the right shoe on the heel is already peeling up which makes me skeptical about how many miles I might actually get out of these shoes in the future. Wish I could leave a better review, but save your money and look at a different shoe if you're looking for any sort of decent lifetime on the sole.

I use it on the treadmill, shoe feels much heavier than the clifton 9 model.

I purchased these shoes because they are waterproof and the traction pods passed the dremel test on a Website that reviewed them. I wear them mainly to walk and run with our dog on pavement/concrete/dirt/wet & dry grass. I bought them October 20, 2024 and wore them the first time the next day. I really like them. My feet are staying dry after walking through wet grass and I have no slipping issues on other wet surfaces. However, I finally inspected the bottoms of shoes on Sunday 11/17/24 and noticed the soft area under the arch on both shoes are already worn down. The traction pods are looking great. I am concerned about the wear in the arch areas will allow water to intrude. There is less than 60 miles on these shoes and the soles are already worn! No other pair of shoes I've owned have done that and I've put a few hundred miles on several pairs. I want to keep wearing and buying the Clifton 9 GTX but if they wear out like the pair I have then I'll have to look elsewhere for a more durable waterproof shoe. Please help me with this. And these are my first pair of Hokas and for the price I would have hoped for a better product. I'm worried that the warranty will be denied and I'm stuck hoping I don't have wet feet when the rains come. Other than the arch area sole wear the shoes are great! Again, please help.
Warranty/return center in undergoing scheduled maintenance for the second straight day so I cannot even submit a warranty claim.
I am not a big complainer but this experience has truly disappointed me. Maybe, for the Clifton 10 GTX use traction pods on the entire sole.

I bought this shoe to wear when the weather is raining and snow. There not as comfortable than the Bondi 8. And my planters fasciitis is slightly agravated with this shoe. I'm disappointed in this shoe.
Thanks

It's good enough for me but the price was not good for me. There are much better shoes available for much cheaper price.

I am extremely disappointed after wearing them for nearly 2 months, specially at this price range and advertised features. I wore them to work sitting down at a desk, to a hike, on long flights and trains, walking around all day, and running. Bottom line is I would not recommend these for extended walking, running, or standing. Here are details why, noting they are my usual and recommended shoe size:
1. The bottom of my heels hurt so much after a couple hours of wearing them, whether I am standing or walking.
2. My feet move up and down inside the shoes while walking because the rear end does not hold onto the ankle. I used the additional laces holes and had them so tight that my ankles hurt but still my feet were lifting up. I think it is the design of the back wing curving out instead of straight up or inwards. I noticed my toes are curving down like a claw while walking to stabilize and hold the shoes, which is resulting in my toes hurting.
3. Starting to give me blisters.
4. The outer side rubber soles color is already startig to fade.
I have never had any of these problems with any of my entry-level sneakers and not even my snow boots. At first, I thought maybe this was because they are new but the discomfort persisted. My 60-day return period is still valid however I can't return them in good conscience after wearing them.

Bottom is harder than normal Clifton. Shoe rubbed my inner ankle and caused pain. If you want it to keep out rain then it does great. I'd never run anything in these shoes. Maybe they'll work for you.

Like everyone, I wanted to love these. Gore Tex, solid foot bed etc. While length was fine, toe box was just a bit narrow. Not a real squeezer, but not comfortable enuf to commit to. Bummer! I do not normally wear a wide size, so these must be made a tad narrow. Maybe that's good for runners - so if the shoe fits, wear it. But, I am a walker and wanted a good solid gortex for wet meadows and the beach. Se' domage...

The shoes looks great. The Gore-tex waterproofing is necessary for my job. This pair and the last pair of Hoka's I have tried do not measure up to past shoes from Hoka. The overall comfort leaves my feet hurting at the end of my shift.

Really loved these shoes when in use but they broke down after 2 months of use. It's a shame because they fit well and were great.

My previous Hoka's were Arahi 6 in an 11d. They were the most comfortable sneakers I have ever owned, great fit and a joy to run in.
After reading a number of reviews which highlighted the cushioning and comfort of the Clifton 9GTX I decuded to purchase these in the same exact size. Boy am I dissapointed in the fit. Too snug, not enough cushioning not a joy to wear. In retrospect I should have returned then but thought another 1/2 size larger would be too loose.
In the meatime I'm hoping they will stretch to my feet.

Gore-tex feature attracted me as winter approaches but shoe became larger, clumsier and just plain ugly. the accompanying pair of non-Gortex Clintons suffered from styling problems which caused billowing effect on sides of shoe. Aesthetically it too was a failure but not as bad as the Gore-tex pair which were really large and clumsy as if process of weatherizing them had increased their girth so that they seemed a size larger.

I got some Clifton 9 last year around May 2025. They started to peel off by the heal and made it uncomfortable where I can't wear them no more . Keep in mind everything else is in good condition , I'd wear them once or twice a week . I went through the warranty department showed them how in great condition the shoes or an they deny the warranty request

I bought the Clifton for work, which is primarily in a hospital. I noticed after less than a month that the rubber is peeling off the right heel area. I've never had a shoe wear this quick!

As a "waterproof" shoe, this is laughable. No warmth. No wind or water blocking at all.
Super cushy ankle upper just absorbs water and redistributes it inside the shoe.
The height from the footbed to the upper is very deep, creating friction under the lateral malleolus
