I have owned a few Hokas, and I was excited to try the new Goretex Clifton's. I have had them maybe 2months now and the tread is falling off already. I don't use them very often but I have run in them a fair amount and out of no where I noticed it start flapping on the road. I am pretty disappointed with the quality.

To narrow in the toe bed. Should not have ordered these since they're not available in a wide.

We were anxious to try HOKA and I ended up ordering a pair for my husband. The shoe is very well made and lighter than we thought. The problem was that the shoes visibly turned in. My husband tried to walk around the house with it, but it was turned in so much, it almost seemed like a defect. I tried to read reviews to see if that is how it is built, but did not see anything on line. Maybe it just doesn't agree with my husbands foot structure. I am really tempered to try it myself, but a little afraid that I will have the same issue. I think trying on in the store, vs. ordering on line might be a better way to go.

The Goretex lining seems to be much more restrictive than my non-Goretex Cliftons. I can't wiggle my toes as much. Also, my feet feel a little warmer in the GTX (like maybe they don't breathe as well). But if you need to run in the rain (or live somewhere that rains a lot), I could see how they might be useful for that. The soles are as comfy as my normal Cliftons.

I've tried 2 GTX models and the toe box is simply narrower than their non-GTX counterparts. Hoka should either disclose this fact or widen the GTX toe box.

I love the look of tbis shoe. There is no wide option so i got mens size instead. It had a wide toe box to make it comfortable. I wear these everyday for hours at a time. The shoes are very comfortable. Its like walking on clouds. However, i am disappointed in the lack of arch support. My ankle is rolling inward. I havent decided whether i am just going to get an insert or return them

I'll start by saying I love my non-GTX Clifton9s. I got these GTX types for running in the rain and well theyre not very impressive. The clifton 9 gtx just wasnt quite as waterproof as i had hoped. Water still gets in after prolonged use. Used once on a rainy bike ride and after 4-6 miles and i had some wickedly soggy shoes. Used one more time to wash my car and i could tell they were getting damp in the toe area. Ultimately, I guess theyre not terrible, just not as effective as i was hoping.

The right shoe was too tight on my big toe. I returned the shoes and purchased a different shoe in a wide size. Hope that makes a difference.

I wish these shoes came in wide & or extra wide.
Very uncomfortable, I wouldn't be able to wear for a long period of time, it's like my feet goes numb, too much restriction, very stiff. The tongue is sewn attachtedto the shoe which is a big part of the problem. And also I really don't feel a cushion at all. I might as well walk barefoot, and I'm not over exaggerating. I love the reflection one the shoe. I really had high hopes for this shoe if you have narrow feet the might work for you.

Had the shoes felt good but didn't last long the tread wore off in less than 4 months.

Structure and look of the shoe is great but beware the shoe runs small. If you have a wider feet size up.

I wear these shoes everyday pretty much but I only got about 3 months out of them and they're falling apart. If they lasted longer I would get them over and over

i'm leaving only three stars being neutral because I know they're a good company. Maybe I just got a bad shoe, but I feel like it runs a half a size big and the Gore-Tex didn't work for me because my feet have gotten wet in the rain like I said, maybe I just got a bad shoe.

I was hoping to love these for wet runs and dog walks but they are too stiff. I'm normally a wide in women's but since the GTX isn't offered in wide I opted for the men's shoe since it's the same width as a women's wide. Shoe fits alright but it is so stiff so I will be returning.

Like other GTX Hoka models, the size you wear in a non-GTX version "may not" translate well to the GTX version of that same shoe model. The construction of the shoe was good, but the size that I wear normally (non-GTX size 11.5) was too short; my toes rubbed the front of the shoe making it uncomfortable. When I tried a half size up (12) then the heel was too loose. I love Hoka shoes. BIG FAN! But the GTX models always seem to emerge with this size conflict for my feet. I wish you better luck than I have had with Hoka GTX models.

Very disappointed in the comfort level of the GTX. They are much stiffer than my other Clifton 9's.

Even if you think you're one size in the Cliftons, you need 1/2 larger here. I've been with the Cliftons since 7; this season I bought both a pair of the 9's for regular and the GTX for wet conditions. The regular Clifton 9's are fine (I wear a 9); the same GTX in 9 kills my big toes. I've tried to lock back my ankle by tying tighter but that just hurts my ankle. Out the cash; may just order 1/2 larger.

I have always ordered a size 11 1/2 from many, many companies. So have been a little large but the vast majority have been spot on. However, when I tried these on they initially felt good, but when I took them out for a spin, I found out quickly that they were a touch small because my big toe consistently rubbed the tip of the shoe. I can't send them back, so I'm out, what $125 or so bucks.

Left shoe creates a hot spot (rubbing) on top of foot where the tongue edge is. Maybe it the goretx being thicker? I have many Hoka shoes and love the fit. This is the first pair that is painful to wear. Still trying different socks and lacing methods.
But no progress.

Fit true to the size. Very comfortable! But I am not a running but a walker. I feel when I am not in motion and standing still, I feel not in balance or stable. I wear other brands and I feel much more balance and stable. Maybe it is the heel is designed upward for runners but not walker. Plus it is not cheap shoes.

I run in Clifton 9s and have a pair for walking - so they are my athletic footwear. The GTX however feels like a different shoe. Stiffer overall and with a less cushioning. I really wanted these to work for wet runs, but sadly not to be.
