I have worn Hoka walking shoes for some years and wanted a hiking shoe. I love these as they have been so easy on the break in, being of same type material as a running/walking shoe. They have been immediately comfortable. I have yet to take them off the pavement but will be doing so soon. I love the ankle protection.

Just got back from a three week trip to New Zealand. Before going I (over)researched hiking boots. I settled on these over Merrells and Salamons because the fit was the best. I wear 9 1/2 wide in Hoka Clifton 9s. Best fit on the Anacapa 2 mid GTX was 10 regular. Turned out to be way better than I hoped. We didn't do the Great Hikes, but did do a good amount of moderate hiking in warm, cool, wet and dry weather. Plenty of uneven trails and rocks, up mountainsides and to get to waterfalls. I wore Wigwam Merino Silk Hiker socks with the Anacapas. Great traction, feet were always comfortable, never got noticeably warm or cold. In fact I rarely thought about my feet-lungs yes, feet no. I am a casual hiker, I don't do miles and miles, week after week, but for a good amount of moderate hiking, these are a winner. Also I have to note, the thing that sticks up on the back of the boot for your Achilles heel. When I bought the boots, I thought this was gimmicky. It's not. It makes a significant difference in keeping your foot in the shoe firmly, properly, and comfortably. Will see what Hoka's got in a couple of years when I go back to NZ for Great Hikes.

I have loved this shoe ever since the original Anacapa. This is now my third pair and my first two are still worn frequently. Great for trail running, traction in snow, and also as an everyday wear. No signs of wear and tear on any of my pairs and they are extremely comfortable, waterproof, and warm. I highly recommend as an everyday shoe, and as an outdoor enthusiast who uses these shoes to workout in during tough outdoor conditions.

Great hiking shoe for trails and bush environment on soft terrain. Not as comfortable on pavement. Plenty of insulation for colder weather use.

Just took them on a 3 mile hike in 3 - 4" of fresh snow. Nice and dry on the inside and comfortable too.

I purchased these shoes for a trip to Nepal I was getting ready to embark on. I hiked through the jungle and mountains for 2 and a half days, through jungle and rivers. I could not be more pleased with a shoe i believe, buy with confidence.

Well-constructed & comfortable. Great travel hikers, as they are so lightweight. Reasonable ankle support for "soft" hiker. Am currently in Europe and they're doing the trip for short jaunts.

For someone who works in law enforcement and who suffers from plantar fasciitis the both pair of Hoka that I bought have turned my everyday pain into something non existent. The recovery and comfort is second to none. I'm on my feet an average of 16 hour shifts and these are life changing.

I purchased this for our Mt Rainier trip as a light weight trail shoe until we reached the snow fields and glaciers on our approach then changed to insulated boots. It was a great camp shoe. I hike in these on rocky terrain carrying a 40-50lbs bag and they did great. The GTX worked great while crossing streams and walking on snow around camp. They performed better than I expected. Now I wear them everyday since they provide comfort are light weight and can go off road at a moments notice for unexpected adventures. Anacapa 2 mid GTX performed and over delivered!

My dad broke his foot/ankle years ago. He is in his mid 70's now and his ortho wanted to put him in an Arizona brace. I bought him these shoes and he is now walking without pain again. He said these shoes were game changers for him and we are so grateful!

The most comfortable, versatile, enjoyable shoe I've ever worn. It was like these were made specifically for my feet. I've worn through three pairs of these over the last several years and wear these daily. So disappointed in the new colors and the discontinued choice of gray/orange. I really dislike the new colors and hope to see better color options return such as the gray.

As soon as I tried these on in the West Lebanon store, they were the perfect fit. I've been wearing them every other day since, in all kinds of weather. I'm looking forward to breaking them in all summer.

So far so good. I use these for outdoor stick fighting training. We will see if they hold up without exploding like previous brands have done and I’ve returned within a few weeks. The comfort is unbelievable. I’m able to move light on my feet with great support and cushioning.
