I've had these socks for a couple of years now, and I avoid wearing them because of how they feel after a couple of washes. They are super stiff and crunchy, not soft at all. I was really hoping these would be socks for life, but I am ready to just toss them now.

My husband likes these socks, but he wears through the heels much too quickly. They don't last long even after I mend them.

I'm a big fan of natural fibers and fondly remember years as a kid where my mother would send me out into the cold with thick ragg wool mittens and socks on. My feet and hands would always be kept toasty warm and I could stay out there all day if I wanted. I was searching for a sock of similar quality and thought that LL Bean would certainly offer that at $20 per pair of socks. Sadly, their worksmanship is not befitting of this price point. The socks initially are warm and toasty, but as soon as they get worn through a single cold season, the next year they are threadbare and nearly worn out. The reason for this is due to their knit - the weave is not reinforced at the heel in any way, leading to uneven wear and the coarse wool fibers wear out with use faster than any other sock I own. I will no longer be buying LL Bean's ragg wool socks until they can find something that will last longer than one Minnesota winter.

I purchased this 2 pack for a trip to Iceland and fell in love with the way they feel on my feet. They are very warm and comfy. Unfortunately, both pairs have developed holes in the heels after wearing them about a dozen times. This happened after I had requested them for a Christmas gift and my children purchase me another set. They are not worth the cost that we paid. I will not purchase these again.

I was super excited to buy these for my partner as a Christmas gift because they were exactly what I had been looking for; long thick unbranded socks! The pictures looked great, when they arrived in the mail they looked great, but when they were taken out of the packaging on Christmas we noticed this big ugly branding on the side of the socks. Even if it were on the bottom I would've still been disappointed since I was expecting blank socks. The socks seemed fine otherwise, just extremely disappointed that this branding is hidden from the customer! I don't plan on taking this risk again on other LLBean socks in the future, be careful of the refund fee!

The knot of fabric sits right on the pressure point for all my the shoes. 3 out 4 were sewn this way so clearly it can be done correctly but only 25% of the time..

Worn at night , in the winter and 3 out four have holes.
First set did the same thing and got replacements.
Now I am outside of the return by 24 days.
Disappointed.

Don't buy these if you have kegs that are a size that are normal or above normal. They cut off your circulation. It would be nice if they made something that did prevent circulation.

Overall the quality and durability especially given the price is poor.
Having bought these socks in the past, and recently, and am not impressed, and disappointed in LL BEAN

I had to get the dark blue pair as the grey set was out of stock. What a mistake. The socks themselves are fine I suppose, but after just one wear, they're covered in white pills. I'll have to just wear them with my snow boots so no one ever sees them. They were going to be slipper substitutes as I just can't find any that fit. So much for that idea.

Developed holes in both pairs in same place in less than one year. Never worn in shoes only around house to keep feet warm. Purchased these to replace other wool socks from LL Bean that lasted for 6 years under same conditions. Manufacturing quality not the same as it once was

I loved these socks, but holes appeared on the heel of the soles after just one season.

I was looking for a good wool sock that would keep my feet warm. They are substantial and warm but I was not happy with the fact that they didn't maintain their shape after I had them on for a bit. They are too sloppy for me. It's not just that they fall down, the whole foot gets all enlarged and too big. I will not buy them again because they didn't work for me.

Described on-line as "...premium, itch-free Australian merino wool...", we found the wool rough and itchy. Also, the wool odor was moderately strong and it transfers the to the feet.
Finally, the Silver Blue Camo pair's design of each sock is not symmetrical. While not quite obvious in the on-line photo, with careful observation you can see each sock pattern is offset from the other, which we did not care for.
Otherwise, these are made of generous, thick, warm wool.

I normally wear shoes size 9 to 9 1/2 depending on the brand and type of shoe. So according to the size chart for these I fit perfectly in the Medium size range. But these socks are way too big, loose, and slide around on my feet. Also, the wool is a bit scratchy. I have lots of socks with this much wool in them that are not scratchy at all. Overall, very disappointed, not as good as expected.

Nice when they're new, but they're not good for long. I don't expect a wool sock to last forever, but this one wears out quicker than most. Worse, they are lumpy and bumpy as they wear (not just thinner and thinner), so they become quite uncomfortable.
I found the ankle to be too tight for the foot size, but this would be not such a big deal if the fabric of the sock did not clump up.

My husband has size 13 feet, and the XL socks won't even stretch around his foot to get pulled on. I'm so disappointed because I think he's had these socks before and they used to fit. Something has happened with the sizing because his feet haven't grown. The overall quality is good, but there needs to be another, even larger size, or more attention given to how extra-large the socks actually are(n't)!

These felt huge and clunky on my feet even though I ordered a size small. The toe seam was stiff and uncomfortable.

Purchased for myself in size medium (I normally wear a woman's 8-8.5 shoe) and also purchased in size XL for my husband (who wears a size 13 men's shoe). Medium was much too tight for me (especially in the ankles and I don't have "cankles"'), so I exchanged for an XL and they fit well. Material doesn't seem as durable as purchases made in the past, but I only wear for sleeping in so hopefully they last a while. My husband thought his were tight as well but didn't return because he already worn them. Says he's doesn't think they will last long and that he would be just as happy with his other inexpensive brand.
The customer service rep I spoke to was extremely pleasant and helpful.
