I have been buying and wearing the LL Bean Merino Wool Ragg socks for many, many years. I really appreciate how warm and comfortable they are. I deducted a star, as I am disappointed that the 12 inch socks are no longer sold as I liked having more of my calf covered. The 10 inch socks are fine but I prefer the 12 inch. Bring those back please! I own several pairs of these socks and they seem to last a few seasons before the heels start wearing out. I get a lot of wear out of them. There is nothing that keeps my feet warmer than these thick wool socks and I can't imagine being without them especially with the winters we have in New England. I can be sensitive to wool and have never found these to be rough or itchy. I recommend either washing the socks by hand or putting them on the gentle or wool cycle in your washer and using a good wool soap. Don't put them in the dryer as they will shrink and tighten up. I am a big fan of these socks and throughout the fall and winter I am almost always wearing them at some point either indoors or out.

These are my go-to cold weather boot socks and also wear them without shoes in the house. They wear well, don't tend to be "eaten" at the heel by boots. The socks are also favorites of my young adult grandsons.

Best socks ever. Only (slightly) negative comment is that the toe bunches a bit on some of them due to the way in which they are sewn...but still great socks in any weather, even summer heat.

My husband loves these socks, but they do develop holes much too soon in the bottom of the sock which is frustrating.

Need RED color. Good fit and hold up. They don't shrink which is a major problem with other brands. Unfortunately no red color available. They need more color choice, including RED.

These are great socks for wearing around the house, but don't try wearing them with shoes or boots. They are way too thick!

These socks fit well but feel rough. Merino wool is supposed to be soft and these aren't.

Love these socks as I like the loose fit on my calves. Other socks strangle the calves and that can't be healthy. After one wash, there was some unraveling on one sock. Planning to buy more

Excellent quality, no itchiness at all. Marked down one star because the XL size is slightly small.

Good fit wear good these seem a little light material wise though.

I used to buy the Cresta wool hiking socks, but they have become so narrow and are binding on the calf. This ragg socks are looser around the calf, but still stay up. And, they are warmer than the Cresta socks.

Awesome socks! Thick, gorgeous, warm, look sturdy. One caveat - socks have large bold L L Bean logo on one sock in each pair. Logo is on inside of instep, about half on the bottom, half showing on inside. Logo would show with sandals, or if you are just standing around. Logo not shown on photo in listing for item.

I wanted a warm sock to wear around the house on winter days when my floors are cold. These Ragg Wool Socks are heavy, thick, and warm. And, they wash and dry well.

So, first, great socks, seem very warm. I'm a pretty solid 9D in men's shoes, reading the fit guide, I ordered the medium (men's sizes 5-9). They're definitely too small, exchanging for a large.

The ragg socks are thick, soft and warm. Good for inside hiking or winter boots. The ragg socks are softer underfoot than the charcoal merino socks. To wash them I just soak them with the warm water as it pours into the washing machine and then leave them in a mesh bag in the tub our washer empties into. Line dry them.

The socks are not as heavy as those previously sold by LLBean, that are a mainstay of my sock wardrobe.

I bought these to wear with Bean boots and they are so thick they almost make the boot feel tight. I like that they are pure wool, and only a tiny bit itchy on the leg where skin is more sensitive. They wash and dry beautifully and still look good after two years of use. I also love that they come in navy.

Just as great as ever. If only Bean still offered these wonderful socks in 12" height.

Not as warm as I hoped. Too much cotton. But fit well if you need crews without constricting elastic tops.
