I had a similar tote bag for years, but the handles wore out. This bag is a great bargain for the quality-- The fabric is thick and sturdy. It stands up, unlike other open bags that will fall over and dump the contents everywhere. The monogram is perfectly stitched. I don't know about cleaning it--time will tell, but I'm very happy to have this bag--the iconic L.L.Bean Boat and Tote.

Bought these because of: 1. The material. It's heavy and will stand up with heavy loads; 2. these look great. When other shoppers see them they comment; 3. Bought 5 and then added 2 more.

This is my third llbean tote and I love them. Almost indestructible!

We give these as gifts because we enjoy our own. Ours have lasted over 15 years and still carry everything we need to pack for picnics, the beach or the car. Great resilient tote.

This Medium canvas tote monogrammed with the baby's name is my go to gift for all the newbes born to my family and friends. The parent's LOVE it because the kids have their own bag to organize their stuff for day care or for outings! always a win!! just get the spelling of their name right!!!

This must be bag number at least 10 or 12 -- in many many years. They wear like iron, and I have them in every stage of use, from new to makes a good garbage can. Please never change these!

Perfect size and monogram. Delivery was very fast. It is exactly what I had expected. You can't beat the durability of this tote. I have 5 others and like to use these as personalized gifts.

I LOVE this bag. I know that may sound insane, but it is the best bag I've ever had. I love the durability of it. I can throw it in the washing machine if it gets dirty, which is a huge plus! I love the large size. It's perfect for packing up and heading to the beach.

I purchased 2 mini open top tote bags for my daughter's wedding. One for the bride and one for the groom! They used them for their dollar dance! And they were HIT!! I own several LL Bean tote bags , all different sizes, and I LOVE all of them!

A gift for my elderly mother with poor balance who carries a purse and a water bottle and uses a cane. This bag is rigid enough to not swing around when she walks. She likes the look of it too.

I give the large tote with the new married name as a gift to my co-workers ! It's always a hit and always appreciated.

I've had the extra large with yellow trim for about 12 years. It holds up to everything!!! I hand wash and air dry and it's like brand new!!! I just ordered a medium size and wish I could have my name monogrammed instead of just initials like my yellow one! Worth its weight in gold!!

This is the second tote bag I have gotten from LL Bean. They are very durable and well made. I recommend them highly!

The pics are a little deceiving on these products so just know the measurements are for the flat base width, but the sides of the tote extend further out so it is larger than the measurements. This is a very big tote (purchased the extra large). I am 5'11" and weigh 200 lbs and this tote looks big when I carry it. But it's manageable and perfect for what I purchased it for (a beach tote to carry our portable pop up tent, towels, sunscreen, snorkel gear, snacks, water bottles, hats, books, speaker, etc). Room for it all. Stands upright, very stiff material. We love this bag! Will last a long time!

I bike everywhere and it holds the items inside so perfectly! The only thing is, white side gets dirty easy :( i need to find a way to wash it well. After you wash the structure distorts a little

I have 4 of these bags and one that i purchased years ago with pockets on the outside which i organized large items like hairbrushes, hair spray and more. Miss that one. I purchased over time for each family and for their dogs with their names. KEEP IT GOING. EXCELLENT QUALITY AND HAVE HAD SOME FOR OVER 20 YEARS.

Purchased to replace cheap china made shopping bags. Have gotten quite a few comments from cashiers, & baggers how nice they are. Remember these bags from years ago. Boats used to have ice boxes. These tough canvas bags were used to haul the ice blocks to boat. One thing for sure never have to purchase another set, these will last for many years! Work great hauling my groceries from car to kitchen. Can haul a lot of items in one trip!

This is just my go-to bag. It is a great value and always works hard in every situation.

Great basic. I take it everywhere, to my job, when I travel, when I get my groceries or when I go to the beach. It is a great purchase. But please bring back the green one with leather handles and the coral one! :(

Very nice bag but no longer plan to do business with L.L. Bean for its failure to stand by a product I purchased years ago. Being a teacher, I of course wrote a letter of complaint, sent by snail mail. Not even the courtesy of a response. Things have changed.

These are the best totes for everything. I have bought 6 of them for family and friends and myself. They are very strong and are a great value. They make super gifts and I have them monogrammed. Will buy many more . Richard, Delray Beach Florida.
