They are great sweaters, until they are not. They are comfortable, and warm, BUT, they wear out quickly.

This would have been a wonderful sweater. I love everything about with the excpetion of the sleeves. They are WAY too short. I'll continue to tug at them to see if I can stretch them, but I don't think I'll be able to wear it. If you have stubby arms, go for it.

My husband loved the sweater, but there is a quarter sized hole on the upper left arm. Please advise how to return to get this expedited. Thank you%t

I was excited to receive this sweater. It's well made and an excellent color. Unfortunately, the 3XT fit like my old 2X and I find this disappointing.

I ordered another color in the same size as one purchased 2 years ago. The sizing has apparently changed because this one was much too small. Too bad. Really like the sweater.

The fit was fine through the chest but the sleeves were long and the wrist area was not snug. I returned and did not risk ordering another. I ordered a ragg sweater years ago in a different color and it fit perfectly.

I found it to be coarse and itchy. The color was great. Another issue, I bought it "on sale" for ~$65.00, but when it arrived the tag had the original price of ~$75.00 then below the sale price of $19.99. So, I took a pic of the tag and sent it back.

1) Elastic on bottom/waist of sweater was stretched out (and basically useless) after being worn about eight times. 2) Wool and color were very good. 3) Elastic on neck is fine.

Good size, well made, wool is not soft and itches bare skin including around the neck.

Very rough and shapeless. I don't buy from Bean for fashion but this was limp

I really like this sweater, but after just a little more than a year, a hole appeared in one of the elbows. So, now I hesitate to wear it should the hole get bigger. I suppose I can patch it, but that would require an extra expense I'm loathe to pay.

It is too baggy/ large, and seems flimsier than the others I have bought. I returned it. I have 2 of these, and like them a lot, so I ordered a third color, but sent it back.

This sweater looks great and is very comfortable. Unfortunately, it seems to be ageing too fast. After wearing it only four or five times those "pills" started forming on the sleeves and on the front. I am not hard on my sweaters and would not expect to see those this soon, and I have never seen this on many previous LL Bean sweaters. I am sending this one back and have ordered another, hoping that this was a one-time problem.

After having a bit of a debate as to whether sweaters are "itchy" or "scratchy," let's just say that this sweater is that. It's lovely material and well-put-together, but any patch of exposed skin (neck, wrist,etc) that this sweater touches will be itchy for all time. I wore this over a shirt, but even so, it was itchy to an insane extent. I don't think I could wear it again.

I ordered this sweater in navy believing this would be a navy sweater. It's actually navy with a lot of green thread woven throughout. It was a bit disappointing.

Overpriced , average quality

We have ordered this great Ragg wool sweater in a Men's Small size twice before and the fit has always been consistent and predictable. This same sweater ordered last year in the same size - Men's Small was larger than the Medium we also have. It is way too big and definitely not a Small as advertised. We had to send it back and are so disappointed, as it was to replace one of the older ones that is wearing out. LLBean should revisit the quality control of whomever makes this sweater for them to ensure the advertised sizing is accurate and consistent.

This was a Christmas gift for my husband. He loved it and wore it for New Years Eve. We were both surprised that after only wearing it one time that the sweater was piling all over the arms. I am very disappointed with the quality and we are considering returning it. I have purchased many items from LL Bean, but this maybe my last.

Beautiful sweater but WAY TO ITCHY. I bought for 2 of my sons. Both said way too itchy and very hot. Returning both.

I like how thick this wool sweater is. Its fit is exactly like the size chart says. My biggest problem with it is it is SCRATCHY! I expect better fabric from LL Bean and will return this. The description is misleading when it says 'exceptionally soft, premium lambswool'. It's somewhat soft but so scratchy I can't wear it. This is not premium lambswool....premium is Merino wool, Fine to Extra Fine Merino wool or even Cashmere. This scratchy wool is bottom o the barrel wool and a far cry from premium. I would not buy this. It's very warm but very scratchy. Since it's their standard wool sweater LL Bean should make it out of at least Merino Wool for some kind of softness.

After 2 wearings the sleeves started to pill

Pros: The quality of the wool is nice and the color is fine. Shipping was fast. Cons: Ordered Lg Tall,but no good for tall guy. The sleeves are barely long enough while the waist is ridiculously too long and baggy--fits like a potato sack. LL Bean usually gets Lg Tall sizing right, but not in this case. Loose threads on the chest ruin the look of the weave. Of the many sweaters I've worn over the decades, this one is among the more disappointing.

The color and quality of the sweater was very good. My husband is tall but not wide. Perhaps you should offer a tall/slim size. The arm length was perfect but not the width. I guess I won't be ordering your large tall again. Thanks for your interest in my purchase. terribinlg

Pro: Looks good; warm; warm to weight good. Cons: Undersized, tight fitting; henley opening weird, too short, most have 3,4 or even 5 buttons, defeats purpose of henley. Bottom of henley opening turns inside out, doesn't sit flat. At first I thought is was a manufacturing flaw, so I had a replacement sent. Turns out it is a design flaw. That's why I'm returning them both. I'd also like the return of true colors. I ordered this to replace a medium blue sweater that has seen better days. There's no such thing as carbon blue. It's blue and black speckles.
