I think these will last a while, but they will take some time to break-in. Stiff uppers, but I expected that in looking at the other reviews. Based on the fact that they weren't in the usual packing alignment in the box, I get the sense that these were returns, which is why they were on-sale. But they were still in new condition and I have no complaints. When I buy cheaper brands of this style, I find the shoes maybe last a year or two. I'm hoping these will last much longer based on the materials and construction.

Nice thick leather. Sturdy construction. Needs some breaking into before extended walking for comfort.

These run at least a size larger than indicated, I recommend you size down. The included LL Bean "True Comfort" insoles are extremely squishy to the point that my heels were moving excessively when walking causing a lot of discomfort. I've replaced the stock insoles with some common brand "Stability Support" insoles and they've made a HUGE improvement.

I have worn the shoes about 20 times and the laces are fraying. No reason for these laces to fray so quickly.

Nice rugged shoe. The fit at the heel however is a bit slippy on my feet. My heel slides around, and the hard edge above the heel promises some blisters as the shoe wears in. Suggest you wear heavier socks with this design. (I also wish the light leather strip weren't so bright in color, but that is part of the design and I knew that when I bought the shoe. It's frustrating that so many shoes have vivid colors, logos, etc. I like plain old black shoes.) Overall the shoe is good, but still not quite what I was hoping for.

I love my shoes in every manner, especially living in Buffalo, New York with the weather. We are heavy now. They provide me the opportunity to go out and not be concerned about getting my feet wet or even cold. My one issue of disappointment is that my right foot shoe is a little tighter in the toe area so that when I wear for any Moderate period of time, my big toe starts hurting. The next size up would be much too large I tried that. Otherwise they look wonderful. They feel adventure some and protective and I'm very pleased with the purchase. Keep making such good shoes for the future Anthony Del Nuovo

I like these shoes. You get a lot for your money, but they aren't without flaws.
First the good. They are solid, comfortable, unobtrusive derby shoes that should go with a wide variety of clothes. Break in for me was minimal. These were comfortable out of the box. The outsole is probably part of that because it is very soft. This shoe also has a very thick, removable insole which adds a lot of cushion, too. Goodyear welted shoes from a reputable brand for $150 (or less, I paid $130) are hard to find. These have a rubber slip sole, which gives you the option of an affordable cemented outsole replacement while still maintain sole waterproofness. The leather upper is good, water resistant and should last a long time. These are the shoes that I wear everyday inside and out and I enjoy them.
Not everything is perfect, which I expect from a goodyear welted shoe at this price. The laces are trash. Just get new ones right away. They will break soon, anyway. The goodyear welting is 360 degrees- nice. That stitch does not go all the way through the outsole. There is an additional stitch that goes through the outsole, but only for about 30 degrees at the toe. Not a big deal, but not something I have not seen before. The shoes run large - for me 1/2 size. The insoles are very cushiony, but for they are are too big for the shoes. They raise my foot too high, especially at the heel. I replaced them. Last, the soles are very soft. The same thing that makes them comfortable, makes them wear out quickly.
I would definitely buy these again. There isn't anything nearly as good anywhere close to this price.

I bought these sturdy, good-looking shoes less than two months ago, and I am almost completely satisfied with these sturdy, good-looking shoes, including their attractive design, solid construction, and wear-resistant tread. However, my one disappointment are the shoe laces, which quickly began to fray, stretch, and break; in addition, Bean does not carry replacement laces (but will reimburse the documented purchase of new laces from another retailer).

I was looking for a quality leather shoe with a leather midsole and Vibram lugged sole. The Bucksports hit the nail on the head. They are great looking shoes that should last forever, and could most likely be resoled if necessary. However...the insoles had strange raised areas at the heal and ball areas that made them feel strange to walk on. I replaced them with a pair of flat, gel insoles and the result was so much better comfort and a much better walking experience.

It feels well made and durable. The cut around the ankle was uncomfortable for my foot. Maybe better once it's broken in, but really stiff. Size and fit was OK for me, and I love the look.

Shoe is good. Not as comfortable on longer walk as I hoped. But traction is great. Good look and waterproof so far

I've been wearing them for a couple of weeks in rainy Portland OR. They've taken over a my main pair of outdoor shoes.

Comfortable, breath well, good for long days at work, laces only last a month. I wish they offered a smooth sole version, regardless it's the best work shoe, I've found.

I wear 8.5 in 2 major brands and other LL Bean shoes but I had to return these and exchange them for a 7.5. It has more cushioning in the mid-sole and in the heal compared with other shoes. While it was inconvenient to exchange they are comfortable shoes and seem to be made well.

Bought a pair of these shoes about 3 months ago. They looked great, and fit was comfortable. My main concern was that the left shoe "squeaked" each time I took a step. It felt like the piece of metal embedded in the sole, just below my foot was loose or just making noise. I am happy to report that after 3 months the squeaking stopped and the shoes are as quiet as all others.

Have 2 pair and sole wore out but shoe is just getting broken in. My favorite everyday shoe they need to do a good rubber sole and not foam.

show itself is nice. Generous toe box, and I like the style of the shoe. Sizing is what you would expect. But as others have commented, the shoelaces are absolute garbage. I have only worn them occasionally so far, and already both shoelaces look like they are about to fail at the top eyelets. I don't know why they don't address this. It is a simple fix. One I unfortunately will be fixing myself.

I've had these shoes for about one month. I have worn similar shoes from Doc Marten, but their quality just went downhill. I've tried these and for the most part, they are good, solid comfortable shoes. My complaint is that in one of the shoes, I can feel a piece of metal plating which is below my foot, built into the actual sole of the shoe. Feeling this plate is sometimes uncomfortable. Additionally, one of the shoes "squeaks" when I walk, which was a problem that I heard about from other purchasers before I got my pair. I plan to buy a Dr Scholle shoe cushion this weekend and alleviate part of the problem.

Well built, and I like the looks, but they're very stiff. Even the tongue is stiff and rides too high up the front of the ankle. These shoes will require some serious break-in time in order to make them wearable for extended periods. But, I have no doubt they'll be durable.
