The small was a little big, but otherwise a nice vest. Normally small fits me.
It is warm. The collar is a bit too big.

Great quality, warm and comfortable. Fit is a bit bulky as others have said. But, It is so warm and nice, really I don't care. Wish it had come in a Petite size.

Greate vest but, too small. Reordered larger size which was showing as in stock and now is delayed or may be unavailable.

This is a beautiful, well-made vest with all the little details right. But as others have said, a petite offering would be welcome. And maybe some snaps or buckles at the waist instead of the cinches at the hemline. I can't imagine anyone needing to use those since there is no flare to the cut. My medium regular is a bit too long and too wide at the shoulders but I kept it anyway because it feels great to wear.

Wanted to love this and hoped it would have worked - followed previous reviews & sized down. Fit everywhere but spanned the chest - too tight there so unfortunately I returned this item. For reference I'm 5'3" 140 lbs 32F - usually a M in Bean but downsized to S - M was too large all over

I like the vest but if you are concerned about tufts of down coming through the exterior of the fabric, you might want to think twice.

Great winter vest. I wanted it big so i can wear a bulky sweater under it. I was going to order a med but read reviews and thank goodness. I ordered a small. I'm 5'5" and currently 5.5 months pregnant and the small still zips up!!! I'm concerned it is too big. I'm currently 165lbs but and normally about 145 lbs. zipper sticks a little but feels very robust so I'm ok with it. I do really like the best and will keep it and hope it is not too gigantic after baby is born.
I bought this for trips to the mountains. I live in houston and guess you could only wear it a couple of weeks a year.
I'm a small in brooks brothers, medium in express, small in gap

sometimes have trouble with zipper but it also has snaps. Wish the pockets were a little bigger to fit my iphone 12 but they still work. With a sweatshirt on under the jacket it is very warm to temps above 20 degrees

This is really a great farm/ranch work vest. Except for the pockets that are too small. I should have bought the men's version for that reason alone. I was going back and forth - so, if you, like me, actually work, perhaps the men's version might be better. Especially if you don't want the perennial problem of the inadequate sizing of pockets on many women's clothing.

This is such a warm, functional vest. I ordered the small, and returned for xsmall - I didn't read the reviews before-oops. it's pretty boxy and has less shape than the picture portrays. The xsmall makes the armholes a little snug for underneath layers. But the small was overall too big. It's super warm and has a ton of pockets. I've enjoyed it on cold days and in the snow.

This is just a gorgeous vest. Well made, warm, very, VERY Barbour-esque. Lots of nice details, like the deep brown corduroy around the arm holes and inner neck; slant pockets above the main pockets with soft, warm flannel-y lining. My one complaint is that it is an absolute lint magnet. Whatever kind of sweater you wear with this, it will leave lots of fibers on the vest, making it look, frankly, a bit ratty. I've stopped even trying to lint roll it, because as soon as I put it back on again, whatever sweater I'm wearing rubs off on it. My guess is, if you were a tweedy Brit, this wouldn't bother you. Fastidious Yank that I am, it does bother me some. But all said, a very nice vest. Also, it runs just a tad big - I could have gone with the size M, but the S gave me a somewhat more fitted feel.

Purchased my usual size in coffee bean (brown). Vest and fit was exactly as pictured on the model, a little roomy which will allow for layering. For a tailored fit, agree with other reviews to go down a size. The quality is superb. Brown, quilted style, cotton, wind resistant, waterproof, down for warmth, YKK zippers, and pockets fulfilled my checklist. I was worried the pockets would be too small but they are just right for me. Personal preference: Have angled hand pockets be where the flap pockets are (as suggested by another review).

I love my new Upcountry Waxed Cotton Down Vest. Yes it's heavier than nylon vests ... duh. It's also longer than my nylon vests, which I like because it keeps my backside warm and cuts down on drafts up my back. I'm looking forward to it keeping me warm this winter.
One complaint - the color I chose (Dark Khaki) on the website is different than it is on the vest I received. On the website the color had a gold-ish tint. The color of the vest I received does not - it's a more blah light brown. Not enough reason for me to return it.

Finally got to try this out on a cold, breezy but sunny New Year's Day walk. It's very warm and blocked the cold wind. Kinda masculine look to it, but that's OK. It's very heavy - I felt like I was wearing the lead vest my dentist puts on me when he takes xrays! But it's a keeper since it is so warm.

I hesitantly purchased this vest based on the reviews and descriptions. When it arrived I was rather surprised and how thick and heavy the padding was! I am not sure I was all that excited at the weight, but after wearing it around just to see if I would like it, The corduroy trim around the collar is nice on the neck, not stiff or scratchy. I think it will be a very nice vest to wear as the days get colder. I live in Northern New Mexico and I am always looking for something to keep my core warm but arms free when I am out hiking or walking the dogs. This vest will be perfect for that. It was rather stiff at first, but it softened up right away. The dual zipper is a really great feature for ease of movement. I believe this vest will be comfortable and suitable in 35+ degree weather. It is definitely a layer ON not a layer under type of vest though. Runs true to size.

I didn't realize this item cannot be washed in my laundry. "Brush off" dirt, it says. What about liquid spills, stains? I bought this item also because LL Bean has zippers that actually work. But this one, while made of sturdy metal, is tricky to zip up. This was a replacement for a much-worn older version, washable and easy-zip, finally done in by a poorly placed heater, and which I now miss more than ever.

I really wanted to like this vest, to use it for running around town in cooler weather. I first ordered my usual size, but it swallowed me. Then I got the next size down and the fit is weird, like the shoulders were meant for a lumberjack, although it fit in the bust and waist. Sadly, I'll be returning it and looking elsewhere.

I loved the way this vest looked but return it because it was so uncomfortably stiff.

It is very boxy and there is no waist to synch for it to be flattering.

I loved everything about this vest when I first saw it. The quality is excellent, the style details were just what I wanted but the cut/fit just didn't work.
I ordered a med and it was huge, I then ordered a small and it was still big, exaggerated, I believe by the very 'boxy' style and the fact that it is really really thick and bulky and pretty heavy. I so wanted to keep it but for the money and not loving it on me. I sadly returned the 2nd one.

Really spent many months thinking about buying this vest since I wear layers & vests much of the winter & liked the color options. I purchased the darker green because I wanted the brown contrast at the collar. The green is so dark no contrast is evident plus the vest itself is quite heavy. I'm sure this makes for a warm vest but it was much heavier than I wanted so unfortunately I returned it.

It is hard to find a brown outer vest. So when I saw this one, I ordered it. The first vest that I received (mail order) had a faulty zipper. I could not open the vest. I took it to our local LL Bean and no one there could open it either. Before they sent it back, I could zip the vest down enough to try on (over my head). The salesperson said that the medium (which I normally take) was too tight. A new vest in size large was reordered. The zipper works on this one and I like the "ruggedness" of the look. I like the fact that the zipper can be zipped from the bottom up for driving in the car and giving more room. One other concern is that the vest always looks "linty". I like the shade of brown color, but it always looks like it should be brushed. I am a big LL Bean fan, and I will keep this vest, but had really hoped for a better quality.

This vest had some style which I really liked. Most are just down quilted and simple. I ordered a large because I want to wear it over a sweatshirt or heavy sweater. It was just too boxy though and the arm holes were huge on me. Didn't look like a very feminine cut.
