Other reviews warned of the fit and I agree. It is warm and a nice looking jacket....stands out in a sea of monochrome jackets but it is very tight in the armpits. It will likely not allow for a bulky layer underneath. You might want to size up but it may make the jacket bigger in other spots. I would suggest ordering two sizes and trying it out.

This is a beautiful, good quality and warm jacket. But be sure to order one size larger from your normal size. Fits very snug.

Nice BUT inside of sleeves is too narrow. My shirt sleeves bunch up when I try to slide my arms in.

This jacket is nice looking and would have been perfect but it's FITTED not "Slightly Fitted" so I had to exchange it for something else. The sleeves were long and the cuffs too wide open so I couldn't just roll up the sleeves. It's not like the Down 850 sweater/jacket that is more forgiving in the chest and has more tight cuffs. This is a terrific jacket for a thin or average weight person who isn't short. The fuzzy part in the upper back area also exacerbated the tight fit but otherwise wouldn't have bothered me as it has other customers who have mentioned that. If you're needing extra belly room and not picky about buttons or unlined pockets for your hands the 1982 Down is similar in price and actually is only slightly fitted so it should fit. Otherwise look for a traditional fit jacket if you need extra room.

Don't care for the fabric used in the upper lining of the coat. Pulls at your shirt sleeves when you put the coat on.

The jacket is quite warm for the paucity of down in the jacket. But, the fit is very tight. Although I have always worn a size Medium quite comfortably from various brands and if I wear a sweater or extra shirt with this jacket, it is almost impossible to put the jacket on - the fit is so tight in the sleeves.

Nice jacket however I should have ordered a size up. Normally have no problem with a XL but this jacket was tight. Guess if I lose 25 pounds it will fit much better.

It's more of a fall jacket. I thought I was buying a winter coat. Buying over the internet is risky. I sent it back and I'm waiting for a credit.

Bought this in 2022 and I am just reviewing it now. It is a warm jacket no doubt. What bugs me the most is the relentless feathers keeps coming out with each use. It sticks to the fleece lining in the jacket and it transfers to your inner clothes. This is especially noticeable when you wear dark colored shirts. I have had down jackets from LL Bean before but they were not fleece lined. Although feathers would still come out, it is not as relentless as a fleece lined down jacket. Keep this in mind when buying a down jacket with fleece lining

I am a L. L. Bean card holder and when ordered that was confirmedt and never mentioned I would have to pay return shipping acknowledging being a card member. I visited your Hampton Outlet after dropping off the return for Fed X and then found I was charged 6.50 for return shipping. The purchase was made with gift cards but never warned from you that there would be a fee for return. I could have brought it right to the outlet and it would not have cost me anything. Disappointed - should have been told.

This jacket is not as warm as the description states. It needs more fill. The side pockets are not located properly in the body of the coat. They should be moved forward. When putting the coat on, the sleeve lining bunches up.

Small holes and feathers coming out continuously in a very slow pace. Very disappointed because LL Bean has always been quality in the last 50 years. I've shopped here.

Like others have said, the arm holes are just too small for this to fit comfortably. The rest of the fit is fine. If I got a larger size I'd be swimming in it. I'm curious to know if this is limited to the production run of the one color that is currently discounted (maybe that's why it's discounted?) or if it is across all options.

Got the 3XL Size and it is too tight. I get 3XL Polo Shirts from LL Bean and they fit fine.

This jacket is not up to the former standards of LL Bean. It's two sizes too small and the material is not what we were accustomed to. Sent it back and purchased another brand at a local store.

Sleeves are made poorly; very tight on arms in our usual size for no reason. Strange fit.

This jacket sheds feathers like crazy. I bought it for $160ish just before Christmas 2022. It started shedding immediately and hasn't stopped since (It's now Mar.2023). I was also surprised about how dull the colors were in-person when it arrived in the mail. The positives are that it's a warm jacket and it has a nice shape. Not impressed though Not at all. Also, I've tried to write this review with an attached a photo of the shedding feathers on multiple devices of different kinds. No matter what I do the site will NOT allow me to post a picture. Interesting.
