I'm a woman and I ordered this mens jacket because I don't care for the construction, colors, and lack of features (such as chest pocket) in Bean women's jackets. And because of a good price. I often order Mens size Small items. I like this jacket a lot except for the lack of insulation in the body (the sleeves are insulated). This is categorized as an insulated jacket, so why was the decision made to insulate the sleeves and not the body? It should not be labeled as a three-season jacket. In colder weather (and it hasn't been even really cold yet), I have to wear a down vest or heavy sweater underneath, and because of this I might have to return my purchase. Right now, it's all I have, so I'll continue to layer or shiver.

I needed a replacement for my 20-year-old hooded Squall jacket that was no longer water resistant. This hooded, fleece lined, water resistant jacket was a good choice. Pluses: - Good water resistance in moderate rain - Enough warmth for 35 to 65 degree weather - Elastic cuffs (I like them better than velcro) - Good main zipper performance - Zippered hand pockets Minuses: - Size is smaller than expected. Order the next size up. I ordered large instead of my usual medium, and it worked. - Hood is larger than necessary. I wear a ball cap to control the hood. - Only one small inner pocket.

Is this jacket cut smaller than the Warm Up jacket? I have an XL Warm up jacket but have seen a lot of reviews saying this jacket is tight under the arms.

I'm giving it 4 stars because I haven't had a chance to wear it in the rain yet. However, the fit (based on the sizing guide of my favorite shirt) is spot on! A hooded squall jacket for rainy type days is important. I have been searching for a very long time (years) for this to hooded squall jacket to be manufactured again.

A little snug and they don't offer a larger size but I like this jacket.

Not insulated enough, weak pockets and zippers. Not L.L. Bean quality.

So far so good. I haven't had a rain jacket since I was a boy. I purchased this just in time since we've had a very wet winter this year. I like the hood too. It's actually keeps me a lot warmer than I thought it would.

It's a good coat but you have to wear a thick shirt to be warm enough.

Although it is the same size as my LL Bean down jacket, this hooded jacket seems smaller while I am putting it on. However, once it is on it fits well and the tightening cord at the hood allows me to keep the wind out of the top of the jacket.

Bought as a Christmas gift but returned. My son, who wears XL in all your jackets/sweater jackets Etc felt this was too snug (and it was) It was too tight and the sleeves were too short. Fit more like a large.

I bought this jacket to replace my old Carhartt Hoodie. I wanted something that looked better and had rain protection. I bought a size bigger based on reviews. It is comfortable and looks great. I ended up buying the Thyme (Green) color versus my normal blue pick but it was out of stock. I am glad I did as I like the color. Since I went one size bigger the arms are a little long but I also wanted the room to wear warm clothing under it . One star deducted for made in VIETNAM. I would rather see the work go to people in the Americas instead of Asia. Good Luck BP

I'm writing for my SO, it was a gift so I ordered his regular Medium size. The description should have read "Trim" as it certainly isn't Traditional (i.e full cut). If I had asked for garment dimensions, it would have been a difficult choice, Medium (which I ordered) barely fits over just a flannel shirt and certainly no more room to layer, whereas the Large would have too long sleeves and possibly a bit loose at the lower knit band. It was a bit of a battle to put on and zip up and certainly couldn't be worn for any outdoor activity with much upper body movement required. We're keeping it but somewhat disappointed.

It has not been cold enough yet but plan to take it to Net York state later in December. Fits great as a medium from LL Bean

Nice jacket, well made, great for spring and early fall wx. sealed right for windy ones.

I gave the jacket four stars instead of five because the outer shell material is a bit noisy. I like a completely quiet jacket for thoughtful, quite walks. The hood is nice to cut biting winds from the head and neck. A heavier jacket is needed if in bitter winter weather.

I'm 5-10 and 155 pounds, and most clothes are too wide on me. Finally found this jacket that fits properly. I wanted a hood for windy days and shopping so I don't need to carry a hat. It's nearly perfect, I would have liked a bit more insulation. It's good down to about 40 F, then I need something warmer.

I love this coat, it's not too heavy and the color is a very nice blue, the only thing that bothers me is that the hood comes down almost covering my eyes even when I pull the ties to conform with my face and head...To be fair I did go up a size to accommodate for sweatshirts or sweaters I wear when it's a little colder...this coat is not heavy enough for extreme cold so a heavier coat may be more suitable...

Nice jacket Warm enough for above-freezing temps. A bit snug compared to most (L) so recommend size up if u r Large usually. Not yet in rain so cannot vouch for resistance there. Still, very happy! 9

Very well constructed, although it's a little tight in the shoulders. Great for temps between 25 and 45

Not very warm, but depending on your location this can cover you for three seasons. When temperatures reach the low 40's with a decent wind, you may want something more substantial. Other than that, it's a decent light jacket

I bought a jacket 2 years ago and only wear is seasonal. The color has fade along the cuffs and front zipper and it looks like the jacket is dirty. I am very hesitant to buy another

Runs true to size. Am told that it good to 0 degrees f if you move around unable to verify temperatures here have been running 80 to 97 degrees f.

Looks great, and fits well except a bit tight around the belly. It turns out that the fit is "Slightly Fitted" but the website omitted this information. Hence, the downward reduction in rating to 4 stars. For the past several years, L.L.Bean has been offering more and more men''s clothing as "Slightly Fitted" only, which for me results in more and more clothing that I cannot purchase. It would be helpful if L.L.Bean offered a "Regular Fit" version whenever it offers a "Slightly Fit" product.

Great hoodie! Love my L.L. Bean products! Only minor criticism with this jacket is the size. A wee bit small in the arms and torso! Size up?
