I bought this in place of the Cresta midweight wool top because of quality issues I had with the sagging neck on the wool. The heavyweight fits better is warmer and much better quality than the Cresta wool.

I love to hunt and I am a letter carrier in Maine. I am outside a lot. This under layer shirt is awesome. I wear this on my skin with a turtle neck over it and I am toasty warm. Like today I was hunting up in Rangely,Maine this morning. It was 1 degree and quite breezy. I had this on with a turtle neck and two fleece jackets. I was very comfortable. I've owned two other of these and I can't say enough about them. I wish they came in more colors because they look great as a stand alone shirt too.

Great product, very warm. Strongly recommend. One complaint is it could be longer. I am only 5'7", so not a problem for me, but could be an issue for someone taller.

This heavy weight base layer shirt is perfect to wear under my flannel shirt to keep me warmer on really cold days. Its great by itself on not so cold days.

My husband loved this product and wanted a second one. I was very disappointed when trying to order another one, that it was no longer available.

Purchased this for my husband to wear to Army/Navy game - 35 degrees and windy. Worked well to help keep him warm.

Tried this shirt because I am always cold - about one of the warmest shirts I've ever got. Trying to reorder more but out of stock, I only wish they would indicate how long this item will be out of stock.

I bought the XXL because I hate when the arms get short after a few washing & dryings. This fits great & is great for keeping me warm playing golf in the winter. I have tried others like silk & perforated & this is the best. Heavy weight base layer, a mock or turtle neck & cashmere sweater & go play all winter.
Fantastic !!!

The fit on me was a bit tight, but I think maybe that's the way an under layer should fit. Nice and warm. I very much appreciate the thumb holes in the bottom of the sleeves. No wrestling with a missing sleeve after the next layer is put on. I know women's clothing has had this feature for a while now and I'm glad to see someone has adopted it for men's cloths. How about putting one in more winter pullovers?

nice shirt. But I would call it medium-weight rather than heavyweight

This shirt is very soft, comfortable and warm. My only problem is the thumbhole; not necessary for me.

Great fit, kept me warm on cold day, and looks good after several washings.
I have the heavy weight, medium weight and light weight long underwear. They all have been great products that keep you warm, look good and dont ride up. The only improvement I would suggest is because they all are similar looking, that they put what weight they are on the product. I have to take all 3 sizes out and compare thickness to get the one I need.

This is a very comfortable base layer that could be worn in the house as a shirt as well. It is not quite as long as I'd prefer it to be however it does stay tucked in. I'm very satisfied with the warmth it provides in cold weather when ice fishing.

I bought specifically for December golfing in Massachusetts, and it worked great. Not once did I think, darn is it cold.....which allowed me to forget it was December. Great was to extend the golf season.
Now I'd like to purchase a golf swing, can L.L. Bean help me with that?

I think being labeled as "Heavyweight" may turn some people off, me included. I didn't want something that was heavy. I wanted something that was warm but not unduly bulky and this surely is just what I was looking for. Really warm and hot heavy at all. I think that being called "Extreme Cold" base layer would describe this article much better than "Heavyweight". If I wanted something that was heavy I would have bought wool! One other minor complaint- I don't believe the thumb holes at the end of the sleeves are needed. I guess they don't really hurt anything but I never use them.

It is light weight warmth.
My only complain is it is tight in the fore arms, the first time I wore it.
Hopefully it gets better with washes.

The fit was a little snug, but comfortable. I consider the product a midweight base layer, not a heavyweight base layer.
