I bought this about a month ago and it shrunk on the first wash. We hung it to dry, maybe the wash was too hot? I recommend buying it oversized...

This is a really nice sweater but it is boxy in it's fit. This was purchased for a tall slim man. I was also hoping that the different texture of the knit at the elbows was actually a patch to prevent holes in the elbows. Nope. It is just a tighter knit there. He really liked the way the collar stood up to keep neck warm but the boxy shape was a no go. He has a 40-42" chest but it was just too much material [albeit really nice material] in torso. He is 6'2" 175lbs. The sleeve length was perfect.

Fit was bulky, too stout through waist, too big through biceps. I liked the material, but this sweater is made for a person who is overweight. I'm not.

Nice heavy sweater fits good and looks good. However as soon as I opened the package the odor of oil like it was stored in a machine shop.Hung the sweater outside for a few days and most odor were reduced..still has a slight odor(machine oil). The ratings would have been a 5 .

Nicely made, color variation from the photo caused us to return it.

I got this as a gift so I cannot speak to the sizing. However the color, forestshadowheather, looks like it as an earthy, green tone to it online. It does not. It is brown and there is little color differentiation bewteen the knit and the trim, which again is unlike the advertised picture.

Looks very nice, has some clear quality to it, save for the color of the Dark Cinder. Looks several shades lighter than the pictures online. Was a mid-to light brown in reality, when I was hopeful for the dark brown in the pictures. Also somewhat itchy, but I suspect that's me just feeling the real wool for the first time in a long time. Just be warned if you're sensitive. In summary, very high quality, but didn't look like the pictures.

This is a very nice sweater but order one size smaller than you normally would. I ordered a large and it fits like an XL+. It is very warm and if you live in a moderate climate you will be limited in the number of times in a winter that you can wear it. It is well made. I rated it a 3 because the sizing is off.

This sweater pills like a diabetic 67 year old drug dealer with a rabid obsession for life extension therapies and weight loss strategies that don't involve dieting or exercise.

I love this sweater. It's so warm and the material feels so thick and durable. However, after one year, the sweater developed a hole at my elbow. It should not wear out so rapidly.

Height of color and stiffness a definite drawback. Unless you have a long neck or are not bothered by a stiff collar you might find this sweater uncomfortable to wear. Had to return it for these reasons. Would have loved to exchange it for a crewneck version but unavailable at this time.

zipper was not working on most of them, we had to search for one that worked. Otherwise the sweater's qualities are winning: warm natural wool, no synthetics, good colors, collar trim and elbow patches will make it last longer.

It's a nice sweater, but I bought the dark cinder, and it looks much better on the website. On the web, the color looks earthy. At home, it's got a pale hue to it that I did not like. I returned it.

This sweater is absurdly large. I normally wear a large tall or an XL (for sleeve length). Jackets are always XL. Wearing this is like a dress its so big. Going to have to return it. Disappointing because I chatted with someone at LLBean and compared to prior sweaters i'd purchased.

I have owned two of these sweaters and two of the vests. The cable knit Merino wool is very warm and very comfortable. Pilling does occur in the areas that see friction wear. The fit is baggy. You can comfortably layer lighter articles underneath. Layering over the sweater is difficult do to the baggy fit. Where the zipper meets the natural bend at the neck binding occurs, it can be mitigated by pulling up on the top of the collar to complete the zipping effort. The dimensions of the collar/neck area are inconsistent. Some articles will be found to be too tight in this area, causing discomfort. This issue is worse with the sweaters than it is with the vests. The inner collar material is very susceptible to wear. If you wear a beard or have any kind of stubble this material will get worn and fray quickly, and often.

I purchased this for my husband who is a predictable medium in all brands. This sweater, though nice and seemingly high quality, had the most bizarre fit. The medium was quite wide/baggy on him, though the length was extremely short. The sleeves were positively massive -- way too long and baggy. It seemed more like a Large Short than a Medium Regular. Unfortunately had to send back.

I purchased in Dark Cinder which does not match the color on the website. Is more of a reddish-brown. The size and fit is perfect. This is a made in China garment of Merino wool. Very soft but nowhere near rugged enough to use in the field. Should have been tipped off by the phrase "inspired by" which means it is not an original quality product. Have worn at the office a few times and seems to be "pilling" already. Due to the delicate nature, the price does not warrant the garment.

This sweater is very nice except for collar which is stiff and comes up too high. When I turn my head it hits me in the cheek . I will have to return it.

Looks great. It felt thick and bulky. The fit was huge for me. Traveled to the store to return and tried on the smaller size, it too felt not right, a little tight in chest/armpits.

The online photos did not show the color that I ordered to be as brown as it is in person. It looked much more grey in the photos. It is brown.

This sweater was made of very fine materials and I thought it would be perfect for my 40 year old son who is outdoors a lot. When I got the sweater I was very disappointed in the style of the neck. It seemed very large and would not have been comfortable I returned the sweater.

This sweater came out of the box showing light pilling and fraying. Within 2 weeks of light wearing around the house the pilling and fraying increased. I'm concerned what it would look like if I gave it some hard wear. I sent it back. If the sweater I received cost $45 it would be acceptable but not for $109. The woolen staple length should be longer to tighten up the threads. The positive is that I wore it in 40 degree wind and it was very comfortable. Also, the lining on the collar is very comfortable - no scratching or irritation, and I wore the collar up around my neck and chin. Aside from my previous negative comments from a distance the sweater looks great. I hope LLB keeps this sweater in the catalog but switches to a longer staple wool. It could be a great sweater.

There is one flaw which we can do nothing about. The collar pushes up into your chin and it does not stay down when you fold it over. Other than that it is a good sweater of nice weight and quality.

Although it is a nice sweater, it is way too overpriced. Would I do it again? Probably not. I only bought it because I had a $50 gift card. Would I recommend this to "a friend." Definitely not, but you could go ahead and buy it anyway. You don't have to agree with me just because I'm right. This is America. Believe what you want.

This is a nice sweater and the three stars only pertain to our climate which is very temperate. I don't think there would be one day all winter that you could wear this sweater in Louisiana.
