Moderately heavier weave making this garment perfect for winter and usable in spring and fall. Compliments from others on appearance. Really pleased with purchase.

Unbelievable warmth this is great for under my hunting jacket or with jeans this sweater is one of my favorites. I have the green and it does change color depending on the light that's one of the things I like best, it's awesome. I've had this sweater for over 5 years and still looks new going to buy the light colored one tonight!

I am finally writing a review after owning three of these sweaters. I own them in the khaki and heather green color. As stated before, the green looks different in the photos on the website then it does in person. I my experience, it changes with the light from a dark green to a brownish color. It is a very appealing sweater to look at and fits right. The wool is very thick and a little itchy so I wear a long sleeve tee or turtle neck with it. LL Bean could charge double and I would still buy it. You will not find a better wool sweater for the money! Great for Minnesota winters-no jacket required!

I wanted a comfortable roomy sweater and I got it! The wool is not scratchy and it is warm! It's ideal for cool days and nights. I enjoy sweaters and this one fits the need.

I had been looking for a sweater like this, for quite some time. Great warmth to them, but not so much to make you sweat. Breathable and comfortable. Has a great military look to it as well, and I've had nonstop compliments on both colors I purchased. Overall love the sweaters!

It didn't take long for this sweater to become my favorite. As soon as I tried it on I knew it was what I had been looking for. It's rugged and nice looking at the same time. I think this sweater and my leather jacket is all I'll need to get through the winter!

I bought this sweater as a gift for my husband. (There was a cold spell and I couldn't wait until Christmas to give it to him!) He loves it- it's very hip looking and the quality is excellent. The color green is a little different than it looks on the website, but he loves the color, so I won't take off a star. Also, warning, it is very thick and warm- more so than it may appear on the site.

I'm hard to fit. My arms are long compared to my torso. LL Bean makes my shopping a lot easier. This product is warm & suitable for layering. I like it a lot. Since I've owned it for less than a year, I can't comment on its durability. So far so good.

A lotta wool for the money. Thick but not
itchy. Handsome & flattering, makes me feel like scaling a cliff when I don it. Close fitting, I'm 160 lbs, 33" waist and 6ft tall & the medium is quite fitted, almost snug. This is not for anyone with a paunch.

This is my favorite sweater for the great outdoors. It's great as a layer or as outerwear. It's comfy, warm, fits well and I love the way it looks.

Husband wanted this sweater as he had one from years ago. He was more than happy with the fit, weight of material and it looks great. I think this is going to be one of his new favorite sweaters this fall.

Sweater has good ample fit. Medium wool sweater with shoulder and elbow patches. Styling is just right. A great layer for mountain hiking.

This purchase, like all of my others from L L Bean, is excellent for the northwestern climes during the wet, cool spring weather. I can envision many years of comfortable wear from this garment!

The commando sweaters are great. I am on my 6th one now as I wear them out in about 2 years around the farm. I have a "good" one I save for better occasions. It will graduate to the chore sweater when the time comes. They are warm, rugged and comfortable taking lots of abuse as I do my daily chores. I don't go out without my commando sweater.

This sweater is everything as advertised. It's incredibly warm, the patches will provide excellent wear protection, and it looks like an authentic military style sweater.

I layer clothing and top off with this sweater. I have done this with everyone I ever owned which has been four and I still own them all. I never get cold.

I was afraid it would be too warm for him in Arizona, but it's been pretty cold and I have a hard time getting it off of him. It's got a great look, its not too bulky, form fitting without making him look like a sausage. I would highly recommend this. Looks like I'll be ordering him a second one.

Bought this great sweater for my boyfriend (former military) and he loves it. Casual, but has the shoulder detail gives it something special. Also the yarns are a nice heathered color, which makes it look much more expensive than it is. He wears it all over NYC running errands, out to dinner, or just hanging around the apartment. He's 6'6" 220 lbs and the XLT fits perfectly. Great value and highly recommended. May buy another color for Christmas.

I layer up in a tshirt, button down, the commando sweater, and a down vest for starting work at daybreak and then peel the layers off as the day warms up. A great piece for desert winter weather when it's 25F in the morning and 60F by 3pm. I get very dirty and muddy, so I take this sweater to the dry cleaners once a month or so and it still fits and looks like new. The shoulder patches are great for carrying a heavy pack or wearing a harness; no fraying.

It's warm, comfortable, and stylish. It's wool, so you'll want to wear something under it. I wear an LL Bean Coolmax long-sleeve (tall) tshirt and it's ideal!
I'm 6'3", 195lbs and the large tall fits perfectly. (I normally wear a 36-37" sleeve on dress shirts.)
Wool doesn't retain much odor so I haven't washed it yet and it should be a while before I do.

Product is great, but I may be able to help re sizing. I am 6'3" tall and 43" at chest; usual sleeve length is 36".
I purchased a TALL, XL sweater. To my surprise, and for the first time ever, the "tall" is longer than I expected or need. Still useful (fold up sleeve ends, and roll under bottom), but perhaps a REGULAR XL would have been just fine.
