I own and wear this sweater in every color. It is a comfortable "inside" sweater -- not too heavy, but outside, in the field or when shooting, it is great! Warm, durable, stylish. Winters in Virginia can be brisk, but the Henley tames the cold.

OK, I have to admit I was dubious with the country of origin, I still wear LL Bean Commando sweaters that I received as gifts 40+ years ago when they were labeled as SAS Commando and were knitted in the UK, they still fit and except for holes from age they are still my go to for outside in chilly (cold) temps. On to the new version. It feels and fits like my "original" Commando sweaters. Fit is very good , sleeve long enough to roll at the cuffs not too tight. Have worn so far only in temps of about 50 F, as not as cold here as it was in Upstate NY of my youth. Good heavy sweater, comfortable, non-binding, not itchy. Looks good with jeans or Chino's. I found colors true to pictures. Hopefully, this continues my tradition with LLBean clothing, the only reason I stop wearing a product is I can't fit it in, because it lasts forever.

Not a sweater for slightly chilly weather, way to warm. Have trouble wearing it as a nice sweater at work, too warm. Outside chilly nite awesome. This is deff a warm sweater, not too heavy and not too light. You know you have it on. Will be my go to, quick, jacket for winter this year I am sure of it.

Warm, very well made, this is what you want for those cool evenings and mornings. But cold water washing I do not recommend, have it professionally dry cleaned: it will not need it that often. Just great, but like most LL Bean products they last forever.

My husband needs a thick sweater for the winter months. This sweater is nice and thick and I'm sure it will do the job.

This is a fantastic sweater. I thought it was a little expensive when I first got it, but I've been wearing it for three years, almost every day in the winter, and my job involves being outside quite a bit. The sweater has held up well, and is as warm and well-shaped as it was the day I got it. It might be the best item I've ever ordered from LL Bean. Really can't recommend it highly enough.

Excellent quality, English Military type Sweater that makes a Man a King! Feels great with attributes found no where else. Should be worn daily & last years, a bargain price from the Best company you can count on! I looked years for a WWII Canadian Infantry Sweater, this is an exact replica. Hi-wear points covered in an super durable fabric. Well done Guys!

This sweater is so nice and warm I can't say it enough.

I am not sure of how to give higher praise for a product other than to say I use it often, plan to purchase another one (another color), and have already recommended it to others. It is that good of a product. I have worn it often the past few months and look forward to the years of warmth it will provide. The wool is one of the best available (Merino) and tightly woven with just the right thickness. These factors combined with the shoulder/elbow patches for durability and style makes it about the perfect sweater. Regarding size: I am 6ft-175 pounds and the medium (my normal size in clothes) is a perfect fit. Quick story- Last weekend on my camping trip, the wind began to pick up as the sun began to set. I smiled, as I reached in my pack, took it out, and put on it on. What a great camp companion -there when needed, kept me warm, and made a great pillow at night! Thank you LL Bean for offering such a great product!

I have purchased two of these sweaters. Very warm. Hold their shape well. The chic's want to steal them. That alone tells you it's a good sweater.

This sweater looks great and because it's wool, it keeps me comfortable when I'm outdoors for any length of time. I've been looking for a military style sweater for some time and I'm very pleased with the style and fit of this one.

Sweater is well made and fit chart was accurate (as least for me being a medium). Weave is tight, which makes it very warm.

Actually, my husband does :) It's nice and heavy for the harsh San Diego winters (it WAY 35 degrees this morning, so don't laugh!). It looks great and is warm and comfortable. We ordered another one!

This is one of the best sweaters a guy can get. I got my first one last Christmas and loved it so much I wanted another one this Christmas, GOT IT. I'm 6'1" 200 lbs, the sweater fits great, it's very warm, and wears like Iron. Going to ask Santa to bring me another one next year. Thanks L.L Bean for being a super Santa Helper.

This was a substitute gift for rag wool sweater that sold out. It is even better than expected. My man loves it...said it is as heavy as a coat. Looks great. It is a snug fit so order one size up if you want a loose fit. The fabric accents almost feel like suede. Great sweater for cold weather.

I like how heavy this sweater is. Also, the wool is surprisingly soft and un-scratchy. I would say that it is slightly long in the torso, but other than that it's perfect.

I love it so much I bought another one in a different color. A third color is on my Christmas list!

If you look good in tailored clothing, you will look great in this sweater. It's a pleasure to have the option of wearing a naturally breathable fabric that can readily absorb moisture and minimize odors especially when compared to the many synthetics available. Stout construction but not scratchy. Kept me comfortable all night in damp forty degree weather. Have hand washed this sweater without issue.

LL Bean's Commando Sweater has earned me the "My Mom is Cool" award from my son, who is off at college. With the cooler weather setting in, I ordered this sweater for my son as a "mom" gesture. Little did I know he would be so excited and pleased with my gift. The style and quality is excellent and makes him look styyyyyyyylish!

What a great sweater for that special man in your life who loves outdoor activities,from mountain climbing to mountain biking etc..Beautiful color,washable and a very soft fabric,well worth the price!

I have the green Henley Commando sweater in XL. As a number of reviews have noted, the color is not really green, especially in the shoulder patches, which look bark-brown to me. I initially ordered a XXL because a few reviewers that were my height and weight (6'-1'' and 230 lbs) liked the looser fit -- I returned it for a XL which still has plenty of room and fits perfectly. The wool is a bit scratchy, but I don't plan on wearing it over just a short-sleeve t-shirt, so that's not a problem. My impression is that this is warm, comfortable and will be very durable. Even though I would appreciate a softer wool and a bit more green in the color (so it would be more like the ancient surplus British commando sweater it replaced) I think it still deserves 5 stars. L.L.Bean deserves kudos for keeping this classic wool sweater alive.

I ordered this along with a ragg mock to replace a medium weight, medium blue heather ragg henley that I had worm out. I've been waiting for somebody to make this sweater since the true military version in wool disappeared from army/navy surplus stores (they've almost disappeared, as well). This is a great looking and fitting sweater, however, the drawback for me is that it is not a replacement for the worn out one, too dark and too warm. I may keep it anyway. (See the review for the ragg mock over there; not as favorable.)
