The current purchase is a replacement for the L.L. Bean Tex 2.5 which is no longer available. The Tex 2.5 were slip-on gumshoes with no tongue. They were more convenient, comfortable and did not let your feet get wet when you are in water that is near the top of the boot. The new L.L.Bean Boots, Gumshoe has a tongue that allows water to get in around the tongue. The tongue also inconveniently folds into the shoe when putting them on. If the tongue were longer and made of heavier leather, this most likely would not be a problem. I would recommend the boots to friends but would ask them to read my comments.

I really wish I could give a good review. It's made in the USA - in Maine. It's perfect for wet weather. And I have other Bean footwear. But these really did not fit me correctly. It happens., but I'm returning them

product appears to be exactly what we ordered - but I guessed the wrong size. I returned product and am anixously awaiting the arrival of the new size. Hopefully, before we have a "winter in OHio" . thanks

The tongue on these shoes is so flimsy it pushes inside the toe when trying to slip your foot in. Hard to grasp to pull back out. A pain to put on. My friend just lets the tongue fold into the toe and leaves it there, and removes the laces. To that point, one would be better off with the Rubber Moc instead of this model. At least, until Beans stiffens the tongue or makes it a one-piece tongue. It's such a basic fault - does anyone at Beans wear these?

I have worn the Maine Hunting boots for years and love them! I have tried to buy the gumshoe several times but run into the same problem each time. My ankle must be low on my foot and the gumshoe hits my ankle wrong. This makes this shoe impossible for me to wear. Since we are all make differently, they may fit you wonderfully.

I bought 4 of these for family. This was my second purchase in 4 years. Both great looking shoes were water proof in wet dew, but failed miserable in sole delaminating in just over a year beyond warranty my loss now that they limit quality to a year. Blah. Blah.

Highly uncomfortable. The fact they don't come in wide is an issue. That being said they're well made like all LL Bean products.

The sizing is way off and the tongue of this shoe is troublesome. They are waterproof though.

I have worn this same shoe for 25-30 years. Yet when I ordered my new shoes, the size was completely off...had to send back, it was too large. I normally wear a 8 1/2, ordered an 8, too big...suggested that I order a 7 size shoe. This makes no sense...so for the first time ever, I will be looking for a replacement for LLBean's Gumshoe.

The actual size was correct but every time I attempt to put the product on the tongue would not stay in place. Then when it's on the tongue slips out of place and slides. There is simply to little material used in the tongue. It is NOT comfortable and does NOT meet up to the standards of the fine Bean products I've purchased and been most satisfied with in the past.

Replaced a pair after about 20 years of reliable comfortable use. Unfortunately these are not near the quality of prior Bean Boot Gumshoes. Really a shame and makes me hesitate before any future purchases from one of my favorite retailers LLBean. If you are replacing your Bean Boots of old, don't buy these! If you do you, will be sorely disappointed.

I'm baffled as to why Bean does not offer these shoes in the Narrow B width that other Bean Boots and Maine Hunting Shoes offer. The fit is way too loose. The workmanship is fine, but I can only wear them to check the mailbox.

I normally wear a 91/2 so order a size 9. Way to big length wise....even with thick socks.

First, these shoes are quite large and it would be surprising if you can get the right fit on the first order. Second, the shoes are unlined and would definitely be coldish in the winter. Third, even though the shoes look like they'd be good in the rain the area where the tongue meets the shoe upper is open and in any kind of wet weather your socks would be wet in a few steps. Sent 2 pairs back.

Great shoe for rainy weather. I visit customers everyday and need an all weather shoe on sloppy day. These are the best for light snow or heavy rain.

I purchased thes shoes a few years ago and they are still new. Every time I try to wear them, I end up limping from the pain. They lack any internal insulation, and feel as if you have slipped your foot into a rubber tire. Very little cushioning The fit is not good. The toe base is small and I find my toes rub up against the inner walls of the rubber tires. The heel is narrow and I have turned my ankle walking on snow and ice. Very poor quality. LL Bean used to make great snow shoes. These are not them! I recently bought a pair of snow shoes at less than a third of the price, they are cushioned, insulated and comfortable. These new LL Bean snowshoes are off to the donation bin.

The tongue is thin and cheap. I wear a size twelve but ordered a size 11. They were still two sizes too big, even with heavy socks.

When I was a younger man, I owned a pair of the LLBean Gumshoes. They served me well in wet and dry conditions, and lasted years. After a couple of moves I'm not so sure what happened to them, or I'd most likely still be adorning my feet with them today. Decided to order a new pair. These are not the Gumshoe I was accustomed to. Beyond the sizing being all wrong (followed advice regarding ordering down), the leather is a lesser grade, thinner, and even cheap looking. This is not the same shoe. Disappointed!!!

The tongue and lacing system is unworkable. This is very surprising design flaw coming from your company. Additionally, I have been returning other Bean shoes due to fit problems. Never seem to have problems with your clothing products.
