These last few years they have gone off the rails. I got these boots because they are some of the few products available from Altra in the "original foot shape." Why is the "original" shape so much narrower than past Altras? Also, I've only had these boots for a little while, but they make a very annoying snapping noise in the top forefoot of the boot with every step. It's weird. I'm hopeful it stops with a little more breaking in. Why doesn't Altra listen to its customers who are all begging for a return to the original Altra shape and quality? I await the robo-response from Altra with anticipation.

I bought several pairs of these boots while they were on sale. I am always surprised by the negative reviews I sometimes see about these boots. They are supportive, lightweight and comfortable.

Pros: The most comfortable hiking shoe I've tried, very light too. Wide toe box is perfect for my foot shape. No blisters after hours of steep up and down hiking.
Cons: The comfort doesn't last because of the one way faucet that this fabric is. Absolutely drinks water. Chugs it. Lets no sweat or moisture out either. Wet grass will leave your foot soaked, let alone a wet trail. A hot day will also leave your foot soaked, these do not breathe. If you're prone to hot feet, hot weather will make these feel like two little pots of boiling soup on your feet. Hot or wet weather will bring on the trench foot or blisters.
Pretty sad since they fit so well, and since the non-waterproof version is some weird hipster taproom boot that looks like a walk to the mailbox would blow it out.

At first I thought these were just as good as the previous Lone Peak, but the other reviewer is spot on. The shoe feels narrower and does the exact same thing where it makes a snapping sound when I walk!! I thought I was the only one who this happened with until I read their review. I'm hoping the next version fixes these flaws since I really like the Lone Peak Mid version 1, non all-weather. That shoe doesn't seem to have the same issues as being too narrow and snapping with every single step (gets really annoying!!) I've tried lacing them tighter and looser to see if the snapping stops and makes them feel less tight and narrow but I would avoid this shoe until Altra fixes the issues.

Until recently, I was dam inspector, so much of my time was spent traipsing up and down steep slopes in heavy vegetation. These shoes have been amazing. They grip well, keep my feet dry, and are very comfortable. Recently, we had a foot of snow and 0degF temps and I had to move for a new job. I shoveled snow, loaded, and unloaded a 20' Uhaul in these bad bois. I love them. Well done, Altra.

Was skeptical due to several low star reviews, but just put these to work on the 50 mile W trek in Chile and they worked great. Have been running in lone peaks for years and used heavy boots to trek in the past, but no longer. Supportive, very comfortable, no break in time, no blisters. My partner was wearing her regular lone peaks and did get wet feet, I was dry in rain and creek crossings no problem.
Altra please run these with the Vibram sole, and make the colors more fun in future years. Otherwise perfect.

Performed well hiking through snow and rain for 50 miles. Kept feet dry for 2 days, started to get soaked through the 3rd. Traction performed well, very lightweight, and wide toe box was beneficial.

Super light and comfortable especially with the wide toe box. Feet get minimally wet when shoveling snow - perhaps more from sweat than outside moisture - and the bottom treads are easy to clean out. I like walking and jogging in them and their comfort made my 100 mile hike across Scotland much more reasonable.

Needed a winter version of my LP Alpines and these deliver. I suffer from an inflammatory disease and these beat the pants off the "orthopedic" competition. Couple with merino socks, be warm and dry!

These boots are great for hiking in heat, rain, snow, etc. I've stepped in sooo many puddles while wearing these and my feet have always stayed dry. It's hard to find waterproof hiking boots that are ACTUALLY waterproof, but these ones are!!! They work great for keeping my feet warm in the winter but not making them overheat in the summer. I really can't say enough about how much I love these boots.

I bought mine second hand actually. I absolutely love them through and through and find myself reaching for them more and more often daily.. whether it's for errands or even a walk around the neighborhood to a workout at the gym. I love the height of the shoe and even laced tightly the upper loops do not bother me at all, I'm definitely going to get a pair of them that's brand new.

Love this boot. Gives my feet relief. It's comfortable in all scenarios, from running around in disaster zones to standing at my desk. I don't recall what the original insole felt like because I use my own for every shoe I own. Favorite boot.

Been wearing these boots for over a year, from light trail walks to hiking the Northeast and UT/AZ. My feet and ankles feel incredibly secure when wearing these. I'd recommend for anything < 8mi.

I got to hike up Mount LeConte here in the smoky Mountians with these Lone Peak WP- very nice trip. The Lone Peaks were fun. Light, nimble, wish I had these my whole life. the tongue kept out debris well. Mine have held up well for a year now, mostly very light hikes and day hikes. I'd love to see a cleaner look- like some of your new shoes with the logo set back toward the heel- but they feel great. Sometimes, like all mid boots, i have to mess with t he tongue gusset to get it to sit right and not press on top of my foot. I didn't buy the previous version because the fabric made a popping sound as it creased and uncreased with every step- I couldn't handle it- but these didn't do that so I gave it a go and I think it's a great product, thanks.

I bought two pairs of these in the spring of 2023... used one pair used for training for the Portuguese Camino in September '23' and used the other pair (after break in) for the actual Camino walk. Walked over 400 miles using the same pair in one month and absolutely loved the boot. Never had any type of failure and the boot performed flawlessly. The boot is light weight, supportive and very comfortable. The terrain was varied but only rugged like back country Rocky Mountains in a few spots. The shoe adequately handled cobblestone streets too but there were times when I wished the sole had been a little stiffer. I normally wear a size 13 but bought 14 and they were just right. Love this boot...will buy again and would recommend for anyone contemplating distance walking.

An excellent product and wears well. Good correction for my supination. Great traction and comfortable! Looks great as well. Plenty of toes space and no slippage. I would definitely buy it again.

We love Altra. My son loves them however they do not last long for him. Do you recommend an option that will be more hardy. He does a lot of walking and some running

I love Altra sneakers so much, it's all I wear. I bought a pair of out roads in November. I'm now on my fifth pair. I wanted something waterproof. I have search high and low for a pair of Olympus in my size but no like. I like the ergo cushioning. I felt like I was compromising with the lone peak. After walking all over the French Quarter in a constant downpour of rain. I'm completely happy with my purchase. I still want a pair of Olympus though!

I work for a government agency maintaining trails. Instead of work boots I use the lone peak all weather mid. 3-7 miles a day plus physical labor and they've lasted for 6 months in Alaska, and still going. Obviously, not good for really heavy work (I bring steel toe boots with me), but these perform by keeping my feet comfortable and dry as I get to the work site and home. Great for all day, light work on a dry day

This boot has neutral support, so if you overprotonate it will not work for you. Most likely. If you have high arches, it will not work for you. Most likely. It is warm. It seems like it would be good in water but I didn't test that. And like most boots it feels a little smaller. So sizing up by half a size or a full size might be better. Altra is the only company that makes toe boxes correctly. So that's a huge selling point. And the tread on this boot is very aggressive.

I bought the older pair of these in the all red color and I ended up convincing two people on my most recent trip to glacier national park to buy a pair. I loved the shoes.

First pair of Altra based on recommendation from a long distance hiking friend and several websites recommending the Altra Lone Peak as a good choice for long distance.
So far I am loving the light weight design, especially the wide toe box and 0 heel rise. After a few fast paced 6-7 milers over rugged ground with lots of climbs and descents, I had none of my usual big toe numbness and cramping. Also had the chance to test the waterproofing. Feet bone dry after a few good dunkings in streams along the way.
Will update experience with durability after a few hundred miles.
