Older Altra's used to fit much better. The new ones are narrower and tighter. I find that if I remove the insoles I then have enough toe box room, but with the correct length. So close to greatness

I love the fit, the toe box, the neutral feel, all wonderful; but now that I've been hiking in these for 6 months, the rocky terrain of the PA AT, I feel every rock I step on, please improve the sole

Daily fast walking use. Cannot use top lace hooks as this pulls the boot top, where the seam is between the inside silver lining and the black cushioning, into my outside ankle bone (hot spot). Fix design by moving seam up 1 inch +/-. Would recommend this shoe with caution.

Very comfortable from the moment you put them on. Kept my feet warm and dry on a fairly strenuous hike w multiple stream crossings. I would not wear them on a serious hike with a backpack or for more than a few hours over your typical eastern mountain hike; you can feel the rocks and roots with every step as the cushioning is thin and fairly soft. I'd travel with these as they'd be great walking around cities and for walking/touring on manicured trails.

The struggle of compromises On the one hand, they are objectively made of better quality materials and more comfortable than similar models from competitors. The Altra EGO Midsole is good. They are quite durable, but for this money you want more. Of the problems: 1. The terrible membrane is the first shoe with a membrane that gets wet at the first contact with snow...it is very strange that they chose the name ALL-WTHR, because in warm weather it is hot in them, the foot quickly sweats and becomes wet, in rainy weather, after each walk they need to be dried, I first started putting changeable shoes in the car because of them, so as not to walk all day with wet feet...if it is snowing, then this is terrible for these shoes, a 100% guarantee that your feet will be wet. It is interesting to try this model with the Gore-TEX membrane. 2. Very slippery MaxTrac sole - wet surfaces are not for it, the ground holds well, snow too, wet surfaces and ice, very bad...this is the most slippery trekking shoes I have had. What is interesting, I tried Lone Peak 9+ with Vibram rubber after them - a little better, but the problem remained, probably the matter is in the sole pattern. 3. Durability would be better - the rubber pads on the toe crack after several months of use, in the places where the fingers bend, the upper is damaged...quite quickly...the heel rubbed 4. Due to the poor breathability of the membrane, an unpleasant odor appears in the shoes very quickly, probably the membrane material is to blame, I have not encountered such a problem before. 5. I want the laces to be more durable, the standard ones broke in 2 months, the laces from my old The North Face that have already served 2 seasons and here for more than 4 months have been showing themselves well, both in size and color, were perfect. In general, the shoes left two feelings - you love them for their beautiful appearance and comfort and a roomy toe box, and you hate them for the slippery sole and constantly wet feet. I also liked the low Cushion, which gives the feeling of the ground stability. But next time I want to do either Olympus Mid or Timp Mid. I wonder if they will retain the problems that are in Loan Peak

I love the brand for offering zero drop and wide toe boxes but and a big but. The products do not hold up prior to adding the vibrirum soles. Now the water proofing is terrible. Was hoping being boots and not a sneaker they waterproofing would have been better. They last about 20-60 miles before leaking. I should say soak through completely so a real barefoot feel like you are standing in the puddle.

I was really looking forward to replacing my LP All-Wthr 1st generation (which oddly enough were sent to me this way: left shoe size 10, right shoe size 9.5... too bad I can't post pics!). First BIG issue was the notch at the top of the heel causing significant chaffing whereas the rounded top of the heel didn't on the first Gen. Second issue was the "squash" effect after just about 100 miles of trail use. The lost it's bounce pretty fast. Too bad... I've really liked and gotten great milage out of my other Altra purchases (namely the Lone Peak series... LP 7, and LP 8 trail runners). I'm now reluctant to try the LP 9 + or future versions of the All-Wthr series.

The toe box may be roomy, but these squeeze the side of my foot at the joint just behind my little toe. There's also a pressure on the inside of my heel, as if the insole slopes up too soon there. I'm comfortable in the Torin 5 and Escalante Race. Those, I would call "foot-shaped". The Lone Peak AW Mid 2 might be shaped like somebody's foot, but not mine.

I've been walking around the Isle of Arran in these boots, which I bought specially for this trip. These boots fit my feet wonderfully. They have great traction. They are a joy, except for one thing. They aren't waterproof. Today, I had to walk through very wet grass. Within 10 seconds, my toes were wet. Within one minute, my feet were making squelching noises. I walked 11 more miles in totally wet boots. This was the 2nd time they got wet through the fabric of the boot (not deep water up by the laces). The first time it took two days to dry and I ended up walking in my running shoes. They got wet too, but they aren't supposed to be waterproof. I love the lone peak running shoes, and I would love these hikers in a dry place, but I am not loving them in Scotland. I really needed waterproof boots and these aren't it.

I've owned numerous Altras racing Ironman races etc. I bought a pair year ago to hike 3, 5,000 ft peaks back East in the White Mountains, a 14'er home in CO, some other hiking, and snow days. Unlike, the 2* ratings, I waxed mine with Fajallraven wax, so it took a while to get wet back East gully hiking, but Mt. Missouri tore them up, edges started to peel, and they do not grip rock well and slide on water soaked rock. I would consider these light hiker's for dirt with some scree. I bought HANWAGs from the local Fajallraven store in Yak leather & looking at the MAKRA LIGHT GTX.

I bought the "black" ones and they are not black. They're a dark blue/green. More narrow and there is an odd sound when walking. I recommend just getting the old model and save some money.

These are ok. Pros: traction and they keep my feet dry. Cons: they make a noise and the mid-foot is narrow (38th percentile width foot). Adequate for winter running. Would like a a better update.

Love Altras. Have 5 pairs. I wear 10.5M in all pairs but this one, I had to do an 11. Still feels too narrow and gives me blisters on the sides in the back and front. Feet are extremely hot, even at 30F my feet were on fire. Stay away!

Seems like a great shoe except where the seam in the upper tongue is sewen to the main tongue iat the edge of the tongue, the stitching is very hard and hurts the top of my foot/ankle.

The Lone Peak Line is too thin. The Wide Lone Peaks are for someone with a big, fat foot, not someone with a normal foot who just needs good toe splay. All their athletic shoes, not Lone Peak, have this MASSIVE TOE LIFT AND THINNING OUT OF THE FRONT THIRD OF THE FOOT, which totally defeats the purpose of a zero drop shoe and throws your posture forward and off balance. It's basically just the same as a shoe with an elevated heel, but instead of elevating the heel they just thin the front 3rd. It's really dumb. However, at least these shoes don't have that, so that's why I gave them 2 stars instead of 1. These shoes have a normal stack height, comparable to their athletic shoes, which shows that what Altra does to their athletic shoes with the thinning of the front third and toe lift isn't REALLY NECESSARY AT ALL. I have no idea what Altra is doing or why it is so hard to get something like a shoe right. I've looked online and ordered from 5 different brands, and nothing is right. (People want enough stack height and cushioning for all day walking on concrete, a zero drop front to back, without thinning out 5 inches before the front of the foot or a massive toe lift.). I haven't liked an Altra shoe since the Escalante 2.5. But there is nothing else out there, so I keep buying. Thanks

Thought this shoe was great at first, but I didn't even fully step into a puddle & I AM SOAKED. Ive only done 5-6 miles in them and they are not waterproof. That is the only reason I bought them

I would not buy this again, nor recommend it to anyone. Disappointing fit that doesn't feel like an Altra at all

I paid a good amount of money for these boots, and they did not last very long. The soul basically disintegrated. If I pay that much money for boots, I expected them to last 10 years.

I was disappointed that during a 30 minute walk in the rain through shallow puddles they started leaking water after about 10 minutes. By the end of my walk my socks were soaken. These were new boots hardly worn. I've walked thousands of miles in Altras and these shoes let me down in very easy conditions. If you're looking for waterproof try a different brand.

Overall, I really like the shoe, but with one big exception. No matter how loose you lace the shoe, you can feel the upper lace hooks dig into your ankles. I've worn many mid-top shoes like this one, and never once have I been able to feel a shoe's lace hooks dig in. It's pretty disappointing that such a glaring issue exists on such an expensive shoe.

Bought the same size as my previous lone peak and this model is too narrow. cuts across top and side of my foot when I walk (the area at knuckles of my toes / the beginning of the laces). That's the worst spot to be tight. Was about to take them for my first hike but they would cause pain in no time. Very disappointed.

I bought these boots for a short winter trip to Colorado in January. I continued to use them daily when I returned home to the midwest and was very happy with the fit, look, and feel of the boots. However, by March the surface fabric of the uppers began to form holes in several different places where the front of the foot flexes. it is very noticeable and I would expect complete failure of the upper soon. It is a shame that poor quality material is ruining an otherwise great shoe.

I bought these boots less than a year ago. Loved the fit and weight. Less than a year and the sole detached. Northern Indiana isn't rugged terrain. They offered me 15% off next purchase.
