First let me preface and say that I love the fit of Altras. However the durability is terrible. I've had these boots for a month of on trail light hiking and they have developed holes on flex point.

The one positive in this redesigned Lone Peak All Weather Mid is the mid-sole. The Ego foam is comfy and responsive underfoot. The rest of the shoe is a total disaster... Not even close to waterproof: With rain pants secured to the lower laces for good overlap w/ the mid-top, these still wet out in minutes. The wetness come through the fabric and seams, even while the mid-tops hidden inside my rain pants remain dry. They are like a one-way valve, letting water in, but not out. The shoes provide a shortcut to trench foot in wet conditions. An open-mesh shoe that can drain would keep your feet less wet. Remarkably fragile: After one 4-day backpacking trip, the soles showed as much wear as I'd expect from weeks or months of use. The fabric abraded after the first contact with stones in the mountains. The adhesives are giving way in the first week. Poor grip: Amazingly slippery, even dangerous soles if used in steep terrain. Compared to Topo's Vibram, or Salewa's Pomoca, or La Sportiva's Frixion, or Scarpa's Presa, these "Max Grip" soles are anything but grippy - they are precariously slippery. The problem is the rubber compound, not the tread pattern. If the dirt is perfect and soft, the tread shapes will bite. On rocks, roots, or anything wet, the rubber provides the worst grip of any sole I've tried in years. Terrible ankle lacing system: The ankle eyelets are positioned right over the ankle bones. The fabric folds make the ankle pressure even worse. The only way to make these shoes work is to only lace them like a low-top, meaning the high-top uppers are just dead weight. Do you self a favor and do not buy this "all-weather" mid-top version. So many problems. For cushy walks on pavement or low-gradient dry trails, the low-top, fully-breathable version is probably fine. I love light footwear in steep terrain, but do not take these to the mountains.

Toe box is the best. Shoe doesn't vent! Traps heat inside!

I brought the shoes because I felt they will be comfortable in the work that I do. I cut a lot of grass and thought that they would be comfortable, but they're not but once I change the insole I got better use something.

Bought the Gen 1s, used them until the sole had little tread left. The Gen 2 didn't even last a year, with both uppers getting holes throughout after less than 80 miles indoors on concrete floors.

I wear these shoes everyday for work. The Gen 1 All-WTHR mid is my all time favorite. The All-WTHR 2 could be my least. The tongue does not fit the shoe! and feels sloppy.

Not the same, lone peak mids used to be the best shoe available, the new style and colors are brutal. Bring back the goods!

Been puchasing Lone Peak All Weather for years, but no more. Fit & quality completely changed: now too narrow, too tight; materials and glue poor. Altra was sold in 2018 to VF Corp. Too bad.

I bought these boots at the end of May for backpacking in the Sierra. They fit my feet right out of the box but when laced the hooks at the ankle of both boots exert pressure that leads to pain. I wore them around the house to test before hiking in them but never felt the hooks. On the first hike the pressure turned to pain in about 3 miles. I've tried numerous combinations of loose lace, tight lace, skip a hook lace but nothing helped. I tried sock combinations with heavy socks, light socks, hiking socks combined with liner socks, nothing worked. I wanted to like these boots because I love the Altra Lone Peak running shoes but I can't recommend them.

The shoe was true to size for me, no issues there. relatively water resistant. I wore the shoes for just shy of 2 months and the laces from one shoe caught the loop retainer of the other and tore it off. Apparently under their warranty it counts as normal wear and tear, no help from customer service. Just for your awareness. I wouldn't buy these again.

tl:dr Not foot shape anymore. Not Wide enough, Mid foot is tight. Spill over the sides. Material is different and feels thin/cheap, and not waterproof. Blue color were bigger in size than the Black. I have been a long time Atra fan and this shoe has changed for the worse. My love letter is for the the Lone Peak 4s as they were the best hiking shoes ever (R.I.P). I had 4 pairs. Each iteration of the Lone Peaks since has been getting worse. Please bring back the original foot shape, gaiter clips, original waterproof material, and stone guard.

Unfortunately, they leak in damp conditions. So, if you plan to hike in rain or snow, I would choose a different product. I've had these for about two years, and I've used them very little. They still have plenty of tread and life left but leak even in light dew on the ground in the morning.

Had LP5s a few years back with wide fit and lasted. Wore these hiking Petra for 11 miles, I have peroneal tendonitis and a stress fracture. Shoe is breaking. No support compared to old models.

Says it uses the original foot shape. That's a lie. Go up by 2 sizes from the original version. The addition thinly padded squares of steel to stab your ankles is a nice touch.

Great toe box and comfort shoe. ButI've been using it as a landscaping shoe for 2 months and the sole is already peeling away from the shoe. Terrible durability. Won't be buying again.

What a disappointment . Why did you change the wonderfully adept line peak mid all weather to begin with.

So Shoe looks nice, fit is tighter than 4 but ok, just need thinner socks. Grip is ok. That's where any resemblance to past Lone Peaks ends. Can't believe people say water-resistant at all. You get damp feet in wet grass. The loss of a gator system is a sad day for Lone Peak lovers. Without a gator in serious hiking you will be wondering more about all the debris in your shoe than enjoying the journey. Then your going to spend lots of time washing them out and drying them rather than hiking. In fact had to put on my old 4's while these dried out from cleaning all the junk out from a serious but short hike. Soft hillsides sand water crossings are not going to be fun in these. Forget about snow mud and rivers. Very disappointing. Feel like I've lost a good friend. Why would you take off gator hardware? Big mistake.
