I am a big Altra fan - loving their wide toe bed and zero-drop design! But, the Lone Peak is not durable, as is promoted. I went through 3 pairs this summer (training for the Peak they are named after!) because the tread wore out and the seams started splitting. I'd expect a better design for the price.

Returning due to the color (tan)just not attractive (look like “orthopedics”). I ordered them because the fit is so good, and I was hoping the color would be okay once I saw it. Fit fine, love lone peaks, but not this color(it’s the only women’s Lone Peak 7 color that comes in a wide width). Altra, PLEASE make wide shoes in nice colors!

I have an old (?) Altra 3.5 in size 9 (width not marked inside or wore off), they are just a tad long but roomy enough for bad toes, bunion etc. The Altar Lone Peak 7 I bought a 9W and an 8.5W - both of which are too large overall (I only tried on the 8.5W). The style, color etc. are just "OK" - I don't like the color of the sole but was willing to sacrifice if the shoe(s) fit: nope! I did not want the shoe for anything other the walking, was looking for a retro style sneaker to wear with khakis, etc. I can't see wearing the tan color in the fields or woods - really? The one I tried on is over an inch too long and an inch too wide in the toe area; I wanted a shoe with a flatter sole and natural looking front due to my foot issues. The heel however was fine in the 8.5 W, despite the rest of the shoe being too large overall. Go figure! I'm giving up looking now as I will be wearing my Merrell ice shoes in winter weather or boots. Thanks Zappos for the return policies and selection of shoes etc.
I'd also recommend:
Naot, Merrell, Ariat wide boots

The toe box is woefully smaller on my new pair although the description said it was the original toe box. I wouldn't recommend this shoe. The materials are cheaper as well.

I have worn Altras for many years. The lone peak 7 is not for me. The toe box is not the same as lone peak 5 or 6. The toe box is the whole reason I wear these shoes! Will look for another pair of LP6 and hope the next rendition is better and comes in better color options.

Why are the shoe laces so short? I love them but will have to send them back.

I have tried 3 sizes of this shoe and cannot seem to get a good fit. But I love the color beige with blue and style of the shoe. Just wish it fit me better!

I've owned several pairs of lone peaks over the last 4 years. I wear them primarily on thru hikes and bikepacking trips. The 4.5 was ugly but functionally perfect. The 5 was ugly and functionally unwearable too narrow and a half size too small overall. The 6 was relatively attractive with nice color ways and a perfect fit. The 7 is a huge step backwards both aesthetically and functionally. Why. WHY??? It's not an iPhone, you can stop tinkering! The technology is not outdated! The 6 was the perfect shoe, please I beg you just revert to the 6, nothing to be ashamed of. No one will laugh at you, we will all rejoice.

Loved the Lone Peak 6 and bought these to try. The toe box may be as wide as on the 6 but it seems shallower and some genius decided to put some rubber like protection angled over the big toe area. When you walk on it you can feel it pressing slightly down on that toenail. That will obviously cause an issue over time, not to mention just feeling weird and annoying. The 6 model put zero pressure on any toes which was the best feature of the shoe. Another stupid change was to the holes for the shoelaces. They decided to put some tube things to put the laces through in some spots instead of regular shoelace grommets. That makes it impossible to lace them the way I like with the last two holes laced on the same side to create a loop to pull the laces through from the other side. If you have ever laced your shoes that way you know it makes is easier to pull it snugger across the mid foot. I feel they basically ruined the Lone Peak with these changes. They are also heavier and the sole is stiffer. Please rethink what you're doing when you come out with new model and don't ruin what made the shoe great. Obviously had to return.

I like your shoe, but I have two complaints. Your colors have always been difficult for me. You exclude wide sizing from the majority of the selection. It sucks to get on here and be limited.

I loved my blue Lone Peak 6s but I seriously cannot buy the Lone Peak 7s in any of the current combinations. Call me vain but jeeezzz is it too much to ask for something a but more earthy and neutral? No the old man green/white combo does not count...

I thought Altra designed these shoes to create space for all your toes - all of their other designs are more narrow WHYYYYYYYYYY would you narrow the Lone Peak to be like all the others?!?! These were special shoes, the only ones I've been able to wear for years and now they're just average and generic like all the others. I'm so heartbroken when I go out to walk and my pinky toes are numb after 45 minutes. I would try to stretch out the laces but they are SO SHORT I can barely get them tied as-is. There's no breaking them in, they are NARROW SHOES and no longer my go-to. WHY ALTRA WHYYYY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO US??? I know they look "cooler" but all your other shoes do too - why punish us when we need the toe space. You took my perfect shoes and made them like all the others - WHYYYYYY??

I have to return 3 pairs of shoes to get a smaller size. I love Hoka shoes and I was hoping Altra would have same sizing.

Been wearing Lone Peaks for years, some great some not so great. This has to be the worst iteration to date. I got a pair as a gift because everyone knows I wear nothing but these for hiking. Very disappointed with this one! The plastic heel thing and the lacing system are horrible! Also they feel more narrow! And lastly, the colors this year are ALL hideous! The LP 6 was my favorite iteration since the 2.5, and they completely changed it again! Also they offered better colors the last 2 years! Love my Dusty Olive 6 and Balsam Green 5. Luckily I was able to exchange this one for the 6, but only because these came out so early this time around. I really don't understand why they added the plastic heel thingI think most fans love LPs as neutral shoes! Just wondering where Altra is getting the feedback from that they keep messing up a good thing! Please go back to what LP lovers wanta neutral wide toe shoe with at least one decent color! I agree with other reviewers that women don't necessarily want pink or purple or white???

Been a long-time Altra fan, so I hate having to leave a less-than-stellar review. The whole point of this shoe was that it was roomy; now it's not due to narrowing in the mid. Plus it is hard to lace these up because the laces are a thin, cheap material. But the biggest thing is that the back pad around the inner heel is poorly made. There is internal stitching that shapes how the pad sits against the back of the foot/heel, and that has already come loose after only a couple weeks leaving no support for the heel. So it's tighter on top while still slipping at the heel - just nutty.

Final review after wearing them. I have a upcoming foot surgery and the only shoe literally that I can wear right now is the lone Peak 6. I have flooring all through my house so I put them on today because I was going to wear them out. Had them on for about 10 minutes and had to take them off. I can wear my lone Peak six all day long with minimal foot discomfort I absolutely. Love my current lone peaks and will be stockpiling as many of the 6's as I can afford. I am so disappointed with the bad changes that Altra continues to mess Great shoes up with. I do not understand why a company that reads review after review of unhappy customers regarding the changes to their shoes can continue disappointing. It's actually pretty sad. The update is stiff, runs too narrow, and does not feel nearly as cushioned. Altra truly needs to get back to the basics.

Usually I can find one pair that the colors aren't SO badand I know to order early so they aren't sold out. But all the colors are bad this year! Barf! That red almost made my eyes pop out. Such a bummer!

My LP 5s need replacing soon so I thought I'd check out the LP7. Love the shoes. Super disappointed with the colors. The men get beautiful, cool, retro, bold teal/purple and red/orange/navy/cream. I'd 100 buy both. I'd be psyched. I might even wear them indoors. The women get an acceptable dark red that isn't quite as cool as the men's red. Then it gets stupid: purple and pink - what am I, a six year old? And then three different light color models. Who on earth wants an almost-white trail runner? Guaranteed to look awful after your first time out. My feet are too small for a men's 7, barely. I'd be a 6.5. So I'm stuck with the terrible women's colorways if I want new LPs. I suggest: make black or dark gray ones for both genders. Give the women's and men's some of the same colors. Make one super "girly" one I guess, if your market research indicates high demand. Not all women want athletic clothes in tampon-box colors! The huge number of convos I have had about this with friends: sigh. We all own an inordinate amount of teal, magenta, purple, and pink clothing because it's all you make for us, NOT because we want it. "Shrink it and pink it" is annoying, please do better.

I am also disappointed in color choices. My latest Lone Peak was the all weather ones, and I am happy with black shoes. There is no need for purple and pink and.... I am waiting for better colors.

I'd love to buy these and consistently lately I've been underwhelmed with the color schemes Altra. Please do.better so I can keep buying my favorite brand of shoes. I am a loyal customer, but I can't buy these. I dlike to see some darker colors, more neutrals, burgundy, darker blues & greens. Browns and blacks. Even lighter ones, light browns and whites too.. Without the hideous pops of color. Please listen to your customers. And who ever is in charge of making color choses lately needs to be replaced.

Altar Lone Peaks are my favorite shoe! But Altra, what are these color palettes!? They look like a tacky new balance shoe Feeling disappointed in the 7s for this reason. Still my favorite trail runner as far as performance and toe box. Please Altra makes these cuter for us! Neutral colors would be nice, and for the bright colors, match with other colors that make sense.

I absolutely loved these and found very comfortable. Sadly, I will not be purchasing again. After five months with limited use, the toe area formed a hole on one of the sneakers. These were not used for running. It was merely walking. As I've read other reviews, this appears to be a common problem with this particular shoe. Given the cost of the shoe, it is not worth the money to have to replace them in a short period of time .
