Without a doubt the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. Looks and fits great. I'm about 210 lbs and cushioning is more than adaquet. Would definitely buy again.

After breaking my foot, I was having a lot of pain walking, running and working out. My dr suggested a shoe with a lot of cushioning and a rocker soul. Other shoes were too narrow and made my foot hurt worse. Wides were too wide and my foot sloshed around. These shoes are just right. I love these shoes and have just ordered my second pair after wearing these out.

Think a lot of people have missed the point on what this shoe is all about. It alot of protection under foot but not mushy!! It stiff so you can run faster in these shoes. Great for fast running.

Since breaking my ankle in 3 places I've had to wear a wrap around silicon arch support to walk. With these I don't need the arch support and there is no pain. Going to have to buy a bunch of pairs to put in my closet as it was a real pain when I forgot to put the arch support in.

The Via Olympus is one smooth ride. The upper has a secure fit and very comfortable OG last. It's a great shoe to wear on recovery days.

It took what seems to have been a year to get my first pair. They don't make as many size 15s and in recent years, Altra's popularity has made getting a size 15 almost impossible. When I was able to get my first pair and they arrived, they were incredibly stiff. I am not sure if that was the intention but regardless, they were painful to wear but thanks to Altra's incredible return policy I was able to send them back. When the latest colors dropped I decided to take one more chance and I ordered the ones in all black. A few days later they showed up and they are noticeably softer. I would say they are almost perfect. After wearing them for a few days I ordered a few more pairs. This review is based on the latest ones. Over the years, Altra has made some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I have been a fan since day one.

This is first time I've tried running in an ultra padded shoe but I decided to give it a try since I've had some issues with pain in my forefoot. This shoe is fantastic and now one my all-time favorites! I love the extra width and padding in the forefoot since I tend to strike mid to forefoot running. My one wish is a tighter fit in the heal. I saw this with my last pair of Astra's as well. Using the top laces does a pretty good job of resolving any significant slip though.

I did a size exchange (undershot the size this time going back and getting the half size i the middle ) and i figured out that the hot spor in the forefoot is from tightening the upper across the ball of the foot too much basically from what i can tell as the foot swells it like sits into the ortholite insole and it creates a lot of friction but if you stop and loosen just that bottom portion that hot spot goes away entirely. This shoe is great please in the next iteration keep a firmer option like this one and make a separate squishy version for people that want a squishier rise

This is my go to road shoe. I was struggling with other models on the longer runs, it wore my legs down. This shoe has the right cushioning for me and my foot strike (mid foot). I feel highly efficient in these and it makes the runs far more enjoyable. Don't change a thing; the wide foot shape is a critical reason why I love this shoe. Do not make it any narrower; I've completely fixed plantar fasciitis by using true wide toe boxes. This fits those requirements.

I've been an Altra fan for years now and - being a heavier runner - always wanted to try a more plush version. The Via Olympus delivers! It actually took away some knee pain I experienced with the Torin 6's and, while it looks big and heavy, feels light and fast for me. Well done Altra!

This is the best shoe I have ever ran in. I love that it has high stack height to protect your legs, however, it is firm and responsive. I can run as faster in these shoes than in my other low stack shoes. Have a closet full of running shoes and these are my favorite. Don't change anything. If you looking for a squishy sole to sink down into these shoes are not for you. I can run any pace in these shoes and they do great.

Trail runner with many many happy miles in the Olympus (esp. the 3.5). This is my first road shoe by Altra. Excellent blend of cushion and responsiveness. Not at all like bricks, per other reviews here. I can't comment much on durability. I've done 100 miles and they are fine. For some reason in cushioned altras I feel way less knee pain than in regular drop and cushion shoes. Perhaps it's a placebo effect but even if they don't last forever (here's hoping they up the quality control) I'm happy to have weeks of pain free running.

until now, i had only worn loan peaks. but I was in the market for good walking shoes for the streets of San Francisco. and I'm just completely blown away by the comfort of these shoes. they feel somewhat stiff and thick at first, but give it a chance to break in and mold to your foot print. i was utterly disappointed and disgusted with the lone peak 7 that i will be exploring the Olympus trail shoe version because of the Olympus via.

I wear these nearly everyday. Working in a Hospital is tough on the feet. Many folks like a different super 'squishy' brand that gave me plantar fasciitis. I bought the ALTRA Via in hopes to help since the Paradigm seems to alleviate most of the fasciitis pain. Much to my surprise the Via is even better! It works and my feet appreciate ALTRAs efforts!

I actually didn't want this much cushioning, but changes in the product lineup have forced me into a box: to get the Altras that I've worn and loved for 8 years AND a road shoe, you get to pick from a list of one. Pls, for the love of all that is kinesthetic, bring back a full range of options with the widest forefoot. Luckily the formidable stack height doesn't throw off my stride, much. So they get max stars. But we need a minimal-cushion road shoe that's not the newly and pointlessly narrowed Escalante. Do the right thing Altra

I need lots of cushion and these shoes provide lots of cushion. I use them for hikes and walks. I also use them on the treadmill and just to wear around.

6'8" 240 pounds - casual / semi serious runner 10/10, great shoe will continue to buy, please don't change much. I am confused by the reviews stating these are not soft enough. I find these to be very very comfortable and cushioned in the right way, not sloppy and terrible to run on. I have put in 1000's of miles in my Escalante Racers but these are my new favorite shoe to run in.

Stable, comfy. I use them on a tread everyday, makes it that much more enjoyable. I had toe surgery and this shoe makes it possible for me to run and interval power walk on serious inclines, where other quality shoes just don't.
