As many people have already said the Clifton 8's were perfect. These Clifton 9's were too long and had extra material on the top making it looked gathered. I wear a wide and that is what I need for I went to a local shoe store and tried on 1/2 size smaller in wide and also a regular size but they did not work. The regular might have been ok if it weren't for my bunion. I need a wide toe box for my feet are widest in the toes but these shoes made my feet feel as if they were swimming.

Unfortunately, these were just not long enough. I usually wear 10 1/2 but my toe was touching the top. I also felt like there wasn’t much inner arch support but a ton of outer arch support. Which really felt weird on my foot.

Hoka is by far my favorite shoe brand. I love the Mach X and I adore the early model Clifton's. However, I can't get behind the Clifton 9's. Everything about the shoe is perfect except for the tongue. Every time I put them on, I'd get a pinch on the top of my foot where the tongue hit. It's such a bummer because I loved this color and wanted so badly for them to work.

I had been wearing Brooks for many years and decided to switch it up and try Hoka. I took the shoe finder quiz and came up with a few options so I decided to go to a local store to try some on. I decided the Clifton 9 felt the best and came home and ordered them. They feel great to stand in, but that's about it. I've walked about 10 miles in these to really give them a try and I have to alter my stride to make them not hurt my feet. And now my feet and knees are killing me! There's weird pressure on the outer edge. I have a bad back and always look for good supportive shoes, but this wasn't it.

I was excited about my first Hoka shoes purchase but unfortunately, after trying the shoes I had to return them. It felt like the heel was set down instead if being elevated for extra support, also I felt that the feet were turn down inward while having the shoes. I did not like it and hopefully at some point in time will give a try to another Hoka model.

I love the look of this shoe but sadly it’s not for me. I have balance issues and you can’t have that and try to walk in the pair I ordered.

I really love the rust color of the Clifton 9's I bought and the sizing was perfect, but the shoe itself is kind of hard where I was looking for a more comfortable, cushiony feel (especially for the bottom of my feet) I thought if I "broke them in" it would help, but so far not great! I was really excited to try HOKA but I'm kind of disappointed especially with the prices..

The shoe has a very high arch. It is so high that it was painful to wear even when not walking. I am very disappointed.

I've planter fasciitis in both feet, so these are for everyday use for me. They're super comfortable to a point that I don't need extra insoles, and they're breathable which is great for the climate I live in.
Unfortunately, the soles seem to be poorly made. I ordered a pair back in October '23. Not even a full month passed before the tread on the soles started to peel off. On both shoes. Customer service was great in helping me get a new pair not too long after. Problem is, the treads are peeling off on both shoes again. Admittedly, they're lasting longer than a month, but given how much they are, I expect them to last at least a year. I don't make a lot and have to save for a while to be able to afford shoes that allow me to stand without pain.
I'm not going to try and replace them again as I don't expect anything different. But, I'm going to try and keep repairing them for as long as I can.

What happened HOKA?! I have been wearing Cliftons since IDK their fifth iteration? I always order the same size: 7.5W. I was up for a fresh pair and ordered the same size without any hesitation, but when they arrived at my doorstop and I put them on I was so surprised at the complete change in fit?! I know everyone's foot is different and the comfort thing is subjective, but these are objectively bigger than previous Cliftons. I put the new Clifton 9s up against my old 8s and they looked like clown shoes LOL which also explains why I couldn't take even more than a couple steps without my heels sliding out.... I even took my old Clifton 8s in a 7.5W to the HOKA store near me to compare them to the new Clifton 9s in a 7W and they were almost 1-1; all that is to say, is that if you are planning on re-ordering your tried and true you will absolutely need to SIZE DOWN. Obviously I still love my Cliftons and now that I've exchanged for the smaller 7W (that is actually a true 7.5W if you're measuring against the Clifton 8) I recommend them, but the sizing change is quite annoying (apparently I am not the only one to notice haha the store associate let me know that this has been a common theme with this version....) and makes me nervous for future versions/changes.

I've never had a issue with Hoka sizing. The was my 1st pair of Clifton 9. They are 1/2 size bigger than all my other 9.5 Hoka. Order 1/2 size smaller if you buy.

I often use other companies sneakers in size 6 but this pair was too tight, and too long. I'm sizing down 1/2 and getting wider pair.

I've bought several pair of the same model and this one felt more stiff and less cushioned. Returned it.

I have been wearing the Clifton style for over 6 years....replacing my shoes every 6 months. I recently purchased a pair of Clifton 9's and they are not nearly as comfortable as in the past. I walk an hour a day and with the new shoes my feet are hurting really bad by the end of my walk. What changed in the shoe? I paid too much for these shoes not to feel good on my feet.

I did a lot of research before buying because I wanted something that would work well for me. I do a lot of walking, both on the treadmill and outside and have very flat feet. Using the shoes for about two weeks now, I like them but wouldn't say they offer amazing comfort. Was slightly disappointed to have my feet hurt after some workouts.

I wore my daughter's Hoka's and couldn't wait to get my own. I was sad that they weren't comfy. They actually hurt my feet. I have heard so many reviews from peeps about how much they love them. I guess my feet are just not a fan.

I gave all my information about MY FEET and the shoes were extremely uncomfortable and too big for a simple size 7 and my foot isn't narrow or fat - I usually wear size 7 anything anywhere in a store and I get a credit balance right on the spot. I was leery about online shopping for myself for shoes this expensive and now I feel like I'm at a loss.

Not impressed with this style. I have only worn them while walking on my treadmill. We are going on vacation in February and will be walking a BUNCH so I hope they work/feel better then. If not I will try a different style

I was so excited for my first pair of Hokas and they were amazing and comfy the entire week I walked in them. The first time I ran in them I got extreme foot pain post run, I tried to break them in three more times and the pain began again within a mile into each run. The 4th attempt I thought I finally broke them in but the foot pain came 24 hours post run and is still here. I've been a runner my entire life and never experienced foot pain from a shoe. Very disappointed as I wanted to make a full jump to Hokas as my running shoe but I can't recommend them and am now worried about my foot.

I really wanted to like these shoes but wow the amount of blisters i have put my feet through is insane. I have even changed up my socks. I get blisters on the sides of my feet and the top of my toes. It even created one of my toenails to be ripped off. Just disappointing

I had high hopes for these as I have two other styles of Hoka shoes and they're both amazing, but these don't fit as well, and they're definitely not as comfortable. I was disappointed but maybe they need more break-in time.

My foot slid around; wasn't stabilized. I need a wide to accommodate the ravages of several foot surgeries, but this one was too big. Had I been able to try them on in a store, I might have been able to find one that worked. The more I wore them, the less comfortable they became. The worst wast standing for prolonger periods. Returned them.

I have several pairs of Clifton 8's and was wary about the change to 9. It was well founded. As others have complained, the ankle/tongue area seems to have been enlarged as well as the overall width of the shoe. Width was fine, but the shoe left marks on my ankle. Not sure what prompted the change by Hoka, but it's an unfortunate one. They're being returned.

I am looking for a replacement for my beloved Bondi 7s for all day casual wear and walking. I don't like the Bondi 8it's not the same and seems wider in the toe box and my foot moves around too much.
Sadly the Clifton 9 is not the shoe I'm looking for. It looks similar to the Bondi 7 but is not comfortablefelt like I was walking on rocks. Also, there is an extended part at the heel that is odd looking
