These Hoka Clifton 9's had the appearance I was looking for but my feet hurt in them. The arch was too prominent and there seemed to be a ridge running across the shoe between my heel and the arch area when I would step. Also I could feel the edges around the inside of the shoe. I took the insole out but it didn't help.

I have been wearing Hoka Bondies for years. This Bondie 8 is horrible. They look like clown shoes and not as well made as Hoka Bondie 7. so thought I would try Cliftons. Very narrow for medium, All Hoka is doing is forcing me to try other brands. Good for Zappos not so much for Hoka.

I wanted to love them. Super cute! Great color. However, it digs into the bottom part of my ankle bone. Bruised it up pretty good and left scars. (I run 20-25 miles a week)

A far cry from the Clifton 8…
Tried Clifton 9 several times ( different sizes, colors, and the GTX, etc…) .
The Clifton 8 was the best ever.
The Clifton 9 is just wrong—- different all around and absolutely no arch support — unlike the Clifton 8, which were perfect.
Please bring back the Clifton 8 arch support when construction the 10 model. Also, the knit on the 8 is much more comfortable.
Thanks!

The size was wider in the heel and more narrow in the toes than previously purchased Hoka style. This style slipped on me heels and did not conform to my foot.

Like so many other reviewers I was disappointed with the Clifton 9. I LOVE my Clifton 8s and was hoping for the same comfort in the 9s but, alas, no. They are different and they actually hurt my feet. Here's hoping HOKA will do better with the 10s. In the meantime I will shop around for a used pair of 8s.

I liked these Hokas at first but the more that I wore them the more it began to dawn on me that they were making my knees hurt. I didn't even know shoes could do that but after some experimentation between these and other tennis shoes I figured out that these were the culprits making my knees hurt. They were an expensive mistake, I wish I had realized within the first 30 days.

I loved my old Clifton’s, and liked the style of the 9s and was hopeful! Unfortunately the new design for the Clifton 9 rubbed my ankle bone and hurt to much to keep.

These looked nice BUT they sent the wrong size and width. Of course I'm returning them, but REALLY? You'd think with all the resources at their fingertips they could get this right. Jeez.

Super disappointed with the change from Clifton 8 to Clifton 9. They have changed the length and the weight but not for the better. The upper is higher and now cuts into my ankle and although they are advertised as being lighter in weight than the Clifton 8, I have weighed mine and they are most definitely Heavier. In addition the outer length is about 1 cm longer and they make my feet look huge! Very very disappointed with the change, really hope they redesign the Clifton 10 to be more like the 8 that everyone loved.

Love the shoe for running. Sizing feels accurate and roomy, and they feel light and cushioned. The small apliques on my shoe which are just for decoration, are already peeling off. I've had the shoes for ~2 weeks, disappointed in that quality.

They're different from the 8, and rub on my ankle.
I've used the Clifton for a few years for running but they've changed the measurements slightly from the 8 to the 9 and it rubs so badly on my ankle I can't wear them. If I take the laces out of the top eyelets to accommodate that, then I get heel slippage.
Super disappointing but these are going back.

I was so excited to get my Hoka's but that excitement quickly deflated with my first run. Immediately my calves and my shins hurt so bad then my knee. I waited a week and tried and again and same results except worse on the knee. So I thought I try them out as walking shoes, nope. Killed my feet within minutes of walking. When I was starting my return, I noticed that my order confirmation was for the right shoe but the shipping confirmation was for the wide version of the shoe, I already sent them back but maybe if I did receive the wide version they were too big and that's why didn't work for me?

I love the shoes. They are so comfortable and really cute. My only negative is that the small green triangle pieces on the bottom of the shoe have already started to separate from the sole so they constantly get caught while I'm walking. I got my shoes on March 23 and it is now Apr 29.

I was a faithful Bondi 7 girl. I have wide feet so it's hard to find the just right fit. Bondi 7 was it! Bondi 8 was not the same, tried bondi x, again a no. Giovanna-still no Then I found Clifton 8. My feet were happy again!!! I replace my shoes every 6-8 months because I work 60 hours a week in them. Clifton 8 in wide was no longer offered. Tried Clifton 9. My legs hurt for hours after work, the tongue is too large and rubs even with thick socks on. I am so disappointed and at a loss. I didn't get the bring back of Bondi 7 ordered before they sold out. Please please please bring back Clifton 8

I have mortons neuroma in both feet ... I have been looking for walking shoes as we are going to Europe in August. All I can wear now are Birkenstocks but none of them work for long walks. I tried these on and immediately felt pain. I am sad to return but am keeping the Hoka Bondi 9s as I can walk in those for 1/2 to 1 mile. Better than anything else I have tried.
I'd also recommend:

I have been wearing the Clifton 8 for years and immediately returned the Clifton 9s. The rubbery screen printing and top material looks super cheap. The new lightening bolt design on the side of the shoe is embarrassingly cringe. They might be as comfortable as the 8s were but I'll never find out because I wouldn't want to wear these in public.

This shoe is not comfortable for people with plantar fasciitis. After standing on my feet for 10 hours., I had pain in the back of my leg and heel. The shoe needs more cushion in the heel.
