These are great shoes but I'm sending them back to try something a little less spongy and a little more sturdy.

I purchased these shoes to train and run in a race. Unfortunately they are to soft, I lose my balance from my right heel sinking into the soles of the shoe. They're very comfortable to stand in but not run, and I need them for running. I had to but another pair of shoes, I wish I could return them but I purchased them through Afterpay. I hope to find a different pair at a later time.

During running , it felt fine in terms of cushioning. But the edges of the shoe against the foot are poorly padded compared to the previous. So you feel the stiffness on your ankle. Enough to return it. Felt like a step back.

The Clifton 8 are some of the most comfortable shoes I've owned. Be aware the 9 is not the same. Leg and back pain after short walks the 8 never caused. The fit was the same so assuming if was a change to the sole / arch. Really like the Hoka return policy so not a big deal but should be aware.

Walking/exercise. Hoka has been my go to shoe. Last two pair I have issue with. This pair, rubbing my right heel. I have double spurs on both heels. Not good. Both pair, bottom of front of inside of shoe feels like it's wrinkled, not my socks, the shoe. Again constant discomfort.

Backache from Clifton 9 I suppose its from higher toe drop, have to only order Bondi. Gave my Clifton 9 away to charity, cannot wear them.

I've run in the Clifton since the 6. I bought eleven pairs of the 8. It was my go-to shoe. Hoka improved the midsole ride with this update, and I like the modestly wider toe box. Used to get slight rubbing on the outside of my big toe, but that is gone. Midsole feels closer to the competition now albeit not quite Novablast springy. Unfortunately, the upper sits higher on the ankle collar and tighter to the top of the foot through the laces. That, combined with modestly less padding on a shorter tongue and around the collar has left me with pain on the front of both ankles. Started getting shin splints for the first time in years after 90 miles. Really sad to have to jump off the Clifton bandwagon. Would have happily bought another 10-15 pairs of this one over its life. I guess all good things come to an end . Odd note: My size 12 (both of them - I bought two right away - silly me) weighed three grams more (not less as advertised) than my last pair of the model 8 (with ~300 miles, I thought the latter would be heavier than out-of-the-box if anything). Suspect those who wanted a tighter lock down on the top of the foot will rejoice.

This is the second pair of Hoka Clifton 9's that I have purchased. On both pairs, with minimal use... walking 1 mile 3 times per week at an indoor gym track, the bottom traction pad begins to separate from the shoe after 5 months of use.

The shoe was not well constructed. I am a regular buyer of Hoka Clifton 9, though this was the first time I ordered them through Zappos. The tread of the shoe came partially undone.

I have never had a pair of shoes fall apart as quickly as these. Would never recommend Hokas to anyone based on this experience.

HOKA quality has gone down the drain. They used to last me a year or so before wearing out. These lasted all of 4 months. I am sure they have cut cost to boost profits which hurts the quality of their shoes. I would not buy HOKA again and advise anyone else to look elsewhere as all HOKA has done is increased their prices but decreased their quality.

Had these for less than and they started falling apart. The rubber on the soles keeps separating. I only wear them around the house and to work (office job), I don't exercise or run in them. Google it and you'll see everyone else saying the same. Total junk, save your money.

These are very narrow. I never need wide shoes, I can wear normal Nike and they are more narrow than most brands.

This is the second time I tried Clifton 9. First time it was too narrow and half size small. The second time I tried wider and size larger. But both times the shoes hurt my feet and knees. I returned both because I did not want to take a chance they would get better after break in.
