I've worn many Hoka shoes over the years I walk a lot and use them heavily. This time I decided to try this particular model (I've been eyeing them for a while), and unfortunately, after just the third wear, both heel lock eyelets tore off. Overall, the shoes are comfortable and extremely lightweight, but it's disappointing that something like this could happen so quickly especially with both eyelets. I hope this was just a manufacturing defect and not a recurring issue.

I ordered these sight unseen directly from HOKA as nobody within a days drive carried this model. Was looking for a light hiker with a little more ankle support than my Skyline Float X's. Unfortunately they are built on a different last, slightly narrow and way too much volume for my flatter feet. Had to tighten the laces to the point where the fabric was buckling across the forefoot! Just couldn't manage mor than a half hour without extreme discomfort. On the good side, extremely light and well-ventilated with a trail-worthy Vibram sole. Just not a good match for my feet. I will be exchanging these for another pair of Skylines as we speak. If you have the right foot these would be highly recommended as a trail maker.

As a long-time SpeedGoat fan, I tried something new: the Anacapa Breeze Mid. I sized up to 11.5 to accommodate my wide foot. While this review contains suggestions for improving the Anacapa, it does have some positives: the heel loop makes the shoe easy to put on, the Vibram tread is excellent, and the footbed offers classic Hoka comfortfirm yet comfortable all day. However, there are significant issues. The excessive ankle padding creates gaps between the Achilles tendon and ankle bone. This bulky design leads to poor fit in the upper mid-ankle area, creating perfect entry points for trail debris. Combined with the heavily padded tongue, the ankle fit is problematicthe laces can't close evenly over the padding, causing pressure points and allowing more debris to enter. I'm now considering removing some padding to improve the ankle fit. I hope the product team revisits this design, but until then, I'll stick with SpeedGoat and gaiters.

I had a hard time spending this much money on a pair of sneakers. But I have flat feet and I've tried a lot of other brands and by the time you pay for inserts and the shoes you've almost have the same invested. With that said I bought a pair of Hoka sneakers and was simply amazed with the comfort best shoe I've ever wore and I'm 60. I even bought a pair for the wife and she loves them so when I paid what I recently did for these latest Hoka hiker I didn't blink and eye and waited to finely have a comfortable shoe for work. Only t say these are the most uncomfortable shoe I've ever wore I'm on my feet almost 9 hrs a day. I'll continue to wear them cause I paid for them but won't buy another pair of these stiles again and it seems the right one is worse then the left and very hard to hook the laces the last two hooks.

Not very comfortable. Very thin material, kind of cheaply made. Their mid height hiking boot used to be a good quality heavy material. Definitely won't buy the style again.

Anacapa Breeze Mid makes a loud noise when walking on the concrete tile floor. I had these for some time and the noise does not go away. Do you have any ideas on how to make them less noisy?

I bought these shoes for work. I wore them for 2 weeks and one of the hooks that are used to lace up the shoes broke. The big thing is now that it's broken i can't lace up the shoe.

A+ shoe and quality. A+ Tread is perfectly aggressive. A+ for comfort and support. Fit: (8.5W) grade: D- If you aren't afflicted with the same foot issues as I am (I'm a 4e, slender heel and flat foot) then you want to ignore this review. Let me start by saying I've become an expert shoe fitter because I have some foot issues obviously from above that require I know a lot about feet, and to ensure my shoes fit right I have learned an inordinate amount about shoes, companies, shoe lasts, physiology of the foot during different activities and ways to get non-perfect shoes to fit for purpose. For fit these shoes are quite narrow, and there is quite a low amount of volume through the laces. I bought 1 size, an 8.5W. I wanted to fall in love with the boots but unfortunately the fit and shape is way off. I tried a professional footbed and took out the HOKA footbeds, but this was not successful. The heel pocket is great and quite comfortable and the lacing keeps your foot firmly in the pocket. So what's wrong? Well IMO these boots shouldn't be registered as a 2e width as when I measured they come closer to a standard men's width, D. I'll say that this seems to be an issue across many shoes at HOKA, men's and women's( they run narrow). Also, the toe box while not overly narrow, is quite shallow in volume. This is similar to the volume through the laces. So in my mind this boot is made for a narrow and low volume foot. Finally, there is a serious design flaw with the sole that runs the 5th Metatarsal. I believe without stating it, these boots are better for someone with sever supination. that or for correcting sever pronation. Either way there is something wrong with how this footbed fits under foot.

Like the title says, I am not impressed with the Anacapa Breeze Mid shoes. I have worn them several times now and they just are not comfortable. I am hoping they still need to be broken in, but we will see. The level of cushioning seems subpar from many of my other Hokas, Altras, and New Balance shoes. I bought the Anacapas to wear out in the yard while mowing and gardening. I wanted a little more rugged shoe with some ankle support but at the same time didn't want something hot and bulky. They breathe quite well and the traction is superb. That's about where the positive ends though. They leave my feet and back aching after short periods of wear. I plan to wear them a few more times and will update this review.

The tread on these boots is very good, unfortunately the stability of the boot. Itself is poor. I would not recommend this boot for anyone looking to hike/walk on hilly terrain.

The laces and loops are ridiculous cheaply made and will not last Im sure. Almost impossible to tie snuggly. Rest of shoe is fine. Normally love Hoka's. These won't last 3 months

Hoka needs to work on there quality control and provide better quality more durable materials. The soles are coming unglued and there are holes in them after about 6 months of hiking. I have pics if hoka is interested in seeing the issues.

Disappointed with the bucks quality of these shoes. I use these a law enforcement boot. The two sections of the sole are different materials and have begun to seperate. Since separating they also make an awful creeping sound. Was hoping for higher quality. Sucks that in have to pay for the return for a defective product.

I hiked 3 miles with 50 lbs to test these new boots. I developed blisters across my heels where the insole edge ends. For reference, I have a couple of decades in a military occupational specialty that hikes a lot. My feet are conditioned for hiking. The Hoka boots are light and have significant padding. Hopefully, adding insoles with a deeper heel cup and arch support make the Hokas useful.

Comfortable but sizes run big. Also do not wear these boots off trail. I had several sticks and thorns go through the sole and stick the bottom of my feet. Very dangers for off trail activities. Only good for maintained trails. You will regret using them off trail

It is a great looking shoe, but it is too soft to give any kind of support to the ankle for hiking. Returned the shoe.

Super lightweight shoe and very comfortable when first putting them on, I had great hope that these would be comfortable shoes.. I work on my feet on concrete all day, every day, theses shoes are a serious disappointment for the cost! my back hurts worse with these shoes than with my previous shoes, and to top it off they squeak terribly when walking.. Definitely NOT worth the money they cost. Expensive shoe and not worth it!

Have owned many pairs of Hokas but first time buyer of the hiking line. Took them to Yosemite and put on a lot of miles and a few peaks including Half Dome. Upward traction was ok. But downward traction almost like it didn't exist - a severe problem on the down route at Half Dome. My daughter's several years old Keen's seemed just fine. Taking these Hokas to Mont Blanc this summer but bringing another pair for steep descents. Why build boots with up traction but zero grip heading down?
