Good quality and beautiful design but way too narrow. My feet can't really splay like other barefoot shoes. I had to return them unfortunately

Significant arch support for a barefoot shoe. And not very friendly to wide feet. Returned. Good quality and super rugged outsole though.

I just got my 2nd pair of these and I am so sad that they are longer and narrower than the pair I bought last year. I am going to have to return them. I don't feel comfortable exchanging them with the fit being so far off.

Loved the feel of these shoes (almost zero drop, nice open toe box) but I've worn them for light walking for about 4 weeks now and the tread is gone off the entire ball of the shoe. I find myself slipping on regular sidewalks after a little spring rain. Zappos returns was fantastic as usual!

Usually wear a size 10 Merrell. These are about ½ size too small in length.

I have owned a version of these since 2011 and LOVE them, cute style and usually ok colors - I look about every 6 months for cute colors. They are sporty, light, and cute (and washable). I wore them around town and on the trail. Now they have great colors... but the style is ugly. I just can't with the bottom wrapping around to the top of the toe. Dying for a Barefoot Life Wonder Glove throwback with colors that aren't terrible. Why is this so hard?

The tread over the big toe is too stiff. I have an older pair of barefoot shoes and love them (but I don't think they are trail shoes). When I wore these ones walking (about a 2 hours) the tread over the toe has no give and both of my big toenails are bruised now. I like the look of them but I won't be wearing them much because of that toe piece. Disappointing.

I agree with the reviewer who said that thaes are an improvement over the 6, but not as good as the 4. For me, the Trail Glove 4 was the perfect shoe! I surely hope Merrell reads all these reviews and brings back the 4!!

These came in the mail today they fit well, but I'm disappointed with the color. The pictures on the website make the shoes look really white. They look more beige kinda dirty looking from the get go.

They fit great and were very comfortable. However, after only about 6 months of wearing them for walks or errands a couple of days a week (and never all day, just for a few hours) the tread on the heels wore completely through to the sole. I've never had vibram soles wear down that quickly. I wasn't doing anything extreme or for long periods. Just walking on concrete or interior floors.

I love the idea of these shoes, but am confused why merrell has gone from actual foot shaped shoes with a lovely wider toe box, to these where the heel and toe are almost the same width??? Every time i walk into my closet to pick between these and my old merrells that are getting close to falling apart, these stay on the shelf.

I have been buying Trail Gloves for years and LOVE the Trail Glove 6 and own three pairs. I saw the redesign on the 7's and was worried, and was right to be. I had a 9.5 in the 5's and they were a bit big after breaking in, so with the 6's I have been buying 9 and they are perfect. The new piece that wraps over the toe on the 7's makes them too tight. I was hoping they would stretch out, but haven't. The soles are just terrible. The small pattern picks up every little rock and gets caked with mud. I also can't see it holding up as well in the long run. The arch on the previous two generations fit my feet perfectly. This new one is not the same. It's not terrible, but also not immediately perfect or as supportive. The only improvement in this generation is the ability to loosen the laces more which makes them easier to put on, and there is a bit more padding at the heel. I will be searching the internet for 6's to stock up.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Trail Glove 6 shoe. (I own 4 pairs in different colors.) I also loved the Trail Glove 5 (I own 2 pairs of those). I am a gymnastics coach with narrow feet and my prior Trail Glove shoes provided the perfect balance of support, flexibility and stability I need for work. I wear them for everything - hiking, exercise, running and even for errands. I can stand all weekend at a meet on a concrete floor with no pain or complaint and they still are stylish enough to wear out and about. These shoes were my JAM!
I saw the colors of the Trail Glove 7 and thought "COOL!" Then I noticed the style changes and thought "Hmmmm, don't panic. They will probably still be okay."
They are NOT OKAY! They remain lightweight and have roomy toe box (even more roomy than before) but GONE is the support around the arch, light stability and amazing sole traction. The look and feel of a well made shoe is also missing. The shoes feel loose, sloppy and seem to lack the durability and quality materials of the prior models. I wore them all around the store, hoping to get over the fit and my feelings. Couldn't do it. I really hate them.
These are a minimalist shoe, and I love that. More and more manufactures are getting away from zero drop shoe and it's a bummer. And, if you have wide feet and looking for a hiking/fitness shoe, maybe this fit will work for you. Maybe the sole has better traction than it seems. (Truthfully, the sole traction might actually be okay, I couldn't get past everything else that was lost). I don't really know. I just couldn't ignore everything that I loved that is missing. This is not the shoe I wanted and needed it to be.
I am now scouring the internet for older Trail Glove models and looking for another shoe to take its place for work, fun and everything in between. I'm salty about all of it. PLEASE bring back the fit, function and style of the Trail Glove 6. New colors would be great but not a deal breaker.

I thought these would be perfect for my feet, but they didn't match up to the shape and arch of my foot, and were a very low profile with the heel area not very comfortable for me. I loved the look and color of them, but had to return them.

I am very disappointed in the trail glove 7! It's not nearly as comfortable as the trail glove 4 - which was the most comfortable and usable trail/ walking shoe ever!! Please bring the trail glove 4 back!! Please!

Unfortunately I was disappointed. They are a little too high at the ankle and this spoils the comfort and you cannot move the toes freely. The sole is quite stiff and does not flex well. The upper is also too stiff and therefore not comfortable. They look very nice. A lot of people here say negative things about the version 6, I am comfortable in the 6, but I don't think I will be convinced by the 7.

The latest redesign is not an improvement. The sole and arch are fine. The Oyster/Gum color combo is aesthetic and trendy. The ankle room is much smaller and the tongue is much longer. It rides well up my ankle almost to my shin. I am a women's 10.5 and I've been buying Trail Gloves for years, so I know my barefoot size. I was advised to order a size smaller as these allegedly run large, but I tried a 10 and even a 10.5 and still they were small, with that tongue that came up and rubbed my shin. I didn't bother trying the 11 because the new construction was just not to my liking. I would say these run small, and the ankle room is much diminished, and the tongue design is silly. Additionally, these are confirmed to be a vegan-friendly design, however this feature is not listed anywhere in its description or materials and therefore does not populate in the results for a keyword search on the site. I had to call and speak with a very nice representative to confirm if it maintained the veg-friendly construction. Why not include it in the materials description so that it can be found in your search results? I would not have even known the 7 had been released if not for an online ad after I re-ordered the 6, because I only search for vegan shoes. Customer Service was top notch in helping me exchange the 6 for the 7 and eventually returning both sizes.

The Trail Glove 7 is a further deviation from the early Merrell Barefoot. I have owned every Barefoot from the first issue and unfortunately I need to return this one. It is more comparable to the Bare Access given the stack height on the sole. The tongue is thick and padded and hits the front of the my ankle. The elongated toe box has deviated from the original round toe box which gave a better toe spread when wearing. I am so disappointed. Please Merrell, return to the Barefoot 3, 4 or 5 style and fit.

I have a pair of Mix Master 3's that I love. Was hoping the TG7 (nice looking) would be similar, but they feel narrower, with a stiffer, less cushioned insole. Not ideal for me.

Too narrow, boring (pop trendy) color options, material not flexible enough...... Merrell desperately needs to get back to the basics of barefoot style shoes that they had nailed with their 4th gen styles. I keep waiting for this to happen (as I'm sure others are as well) but am losing hope and looking elsewhere. I don't understand how r&d and consumer testing has led them to where they are with these, assuming they are doing that at all. Maybe they aren't actually including barefoot style wearers in their studies or they're giving too much weight to input from people who don't understand what a barefoot style shoe is supposed to be!?!? Whatever the case, things have gone awry!

Please bring back the support that the trail glove 5 and 6 had. The arch support was perfect, it too much, not too little. Just enough to give you a barefoot supported feel. The 7's were a complete redesign and disappointment to say the least.. why change a good thing

Why is Merrell making their barefoot shoe toe box more narrow and less square than in the past?
