My only complaint about this lid is that it is hard to tell which way the spout opens at a quick glance. So, if you only have one hand free and you're trying to open the spout with your thumb, half of the time you'll grab it in the wrong orientation and be trying to flip it open the wrong direction. I wish there was some sort of marking or texture on the lid so I could easily tell which way it flips open in poor light, or without looking at it at all.
Beyond that, this work great. It doesn't spill, is easy to use and you get plenty of flow (it doesn't feel like you're drinking water through a coffee stirrer). If you do tip it open with the spout open, the leaking is minimal. Beyond that, obviously it is a perfect fit for HydroFlasks and looks darn good too. If I could figure out which way the spout opened by touch alone, this would be an easy 5 stars.

I bought the standard mouth flex straw cap and also the 32 oz wide mouth trail series not realizing 'standard' mouth and 'wide mouth' doesn't go together. Ahhh, so I was a little bummed about that. My first time owning a Hydro Flask so didn't read. :(

I purchased the sport cap and it leaks when we completely depressed. I've written to Hydroflask but have not heard back.

Difficult to open. The mouth spout moves easily so even while your drinking the flow will change because the hole where the water comes through gets blocked when the spout moves.

Absolutely love my new cup.just really sad how easily the lid pops off if it gets bumped or jostled. As long as it stays on my desk it's okay..except when it gets bumped into..thankful was able to save my computer before it got to wet.

I'll save the flex straw cap for when i' In worried about tipping and spilling. The flex straw cap just doesn't doesn't have as much flow. Relatively, makes me feel like I'm working for a drink.

It tends to squirt when you open it. I've been soaked a couple times.

If you shake a powder mix in your HydroFlask, expect a little spillage when you flip the cap spout down the first time. It is also a little challenging to tell which way the drinking spout flips open - wish it more easily marked. Lastly, drinking through the straw requires more effort than drinking through a standard straw / other water bottles with a drinking straw.

I ordered the hydro flask straw top because the other brand that I have bought break. I figured that hydro flask is a good brand so it should not break. It does seem stable but the straw doesn't give a reliable flow of water. There are many times I try to get water and it doesn't come up in a good flow

It fits my bottle well, however, I have a lesser known brand, and that straw is wider and easier to drink from.

The water flow is less than that of the wide mouth straw lid.

I bought this cap in order to have a convenient one-handed way to access my water. This cap does just that! However I've noticed a strange plastic-like taste to any water I sip through it, despite having washed the straw and other pieces with warm soapy water as instructed. Overall I wouldn't buy again because of the plastic taste (sorry!)

I love Hydro Flask, and I was excited to get a bottle for my toddler. I added on this lid to make it easier for her to drink from. It's leakproof, which is great. My issue is that the spout doesn't stay in place like the one for my wide mouth bottle does - apply just a little bit of pressure, and it starts to fold back down. It's constantly closing on her, and she gets quite frustrated. So, I'd say this is a great product for older kids and adults, but not for young kids.

Everyone should try a product and leave a review after owning it for 6 months. The cap works great without the straw but the type of ice I use is problematic. I use the smaller pellet type ice and the ice is just small enough to clog the hole under the cap that restricts water flow. After all ice melts, it's fine. Larger ice cubes from the freezer door are not a problem. As one reviewer mentioned, water from the air outlet hole splashes on the face. When using the straw, at times, it is hard to get a strong flow, As if the straw is lying flat on the bottom of the flask. The straw is cut to the proper length. Remove the lid and reinserting is a temporary fix until you refill the bottle. Some days the lids works as advertised. Lastly, as of late, the bottle leaks over night. I will drink the water down to where the water is just below the straw bottom. That next morning water has leaked on to my counter top and is clearly visible around the spout while it's in the closed position. I would guess the pressure in the bottle forces what's in the straw up and out of the bottle. I do not believe if I leave the spout in the open position this would be a problem. This review is not to slam of the product but a few things to be ware of. When it works it's great but when it doesn't, dropping a small F bomb relieves the temp frustration. Not a bad straw for the but could be better. I won't hesitate to try another one.

It works great but even a few weeks later the plasticy taste is still present in the water. Not sure how long it will take to go away.

I've had this and used it for 3 days now and am extremely disappointed. The quality is great, fits great, love that it pushes to lock closed. BUT...it does not lock OPEN. when a person picks up a bottle to take a sip, unless the mouth is placed above the opening and raised straight up, the sipper will get pushed back some degree which results in it losing suction ability. If the sipper isn't all of the way pressed open - sucking air and water. I have used the large mouth sipper for years and it locks forward into place with a snap and wanted to go to a smaller water bottle and saw this new straw lid that I have been waiting for...but it does not snap/lock into an open position and remain there. Its a constant battle to use my upper lip to press down on the sipper while taking a drink. The "open" angle is much less than what it was on the old large mouth sipper - it is almost straight up - which also means you can't tilt the bottle to naturally bring it to your mouth and that causes the mouthpiece to move and straw to be higher than the water at the bottom. I sit at a desk and when reaching out for it to bring it to my mouth I have to bend my neck to take a sip or tilt it. Don't understand why the design of the large mouth straw lid couldnt have been better replicated. At least make the sipper lock into place at a minimum!

I had a hard time figuring this cap out. It is probably just user error but I couldn't figure out how to attach the straw. It is well made though and fits the hydro flask perfectly. If I'm able to figure out how it works, I'm sure it would be a great product.

The sipping spout should be soft and allow more flow and easy to clean. If it's not completely closed into position it does leak.

ok.. 3 stars. it is really hard to screw on tight until the red part doesn't show. also when I suck on the straw part water doesn't come out unless it is all the way up which means I have to hold it with my finger. also some small design issues is it's hard to pop the straw part in and out when drinking and to tell which side is which but overall it's ok it works and I needed a new lid

Seems like a nice design and it doesn't leak. But the flow of water is so slow that with or without the straw you can't get enough water to do more than sip. I wouldn't buy again. This was to replace the sport lid that I bought first. Same problem with that one. When you're thirsty, you want to guzzle your water. Can't do with either of these lids. Sad.

I bought these for my 8 and 10 year old kids because they have been asking for straws for a while. The trouble is they are very difficult for small fingers to open. The tab is small with no indentation (or too small of one). He says he hates it even though I tell him it will break in or he can unscrew it like a normal cap. I can't change his mind because he is right. A bit longer tab would help kids or others with accessibility needs.
