Purchased to replace a worn out pair of GEL Venture 6, which I loved. The GEL Venture 7s feel and fit the same (just, y'know...new), but there is something about the laces/lace up area that is weird. The area above the tongue where the laces cross....it's like they were trying shave off a little material on each shoe to use less overall. The amount of tongue showing is too wide and it looks like your foot is busting out of the shoe. The laces themselves are thin and squeaky and stretchy. Don't know what they are made of, but it feels cheap/low quality. These are mostly cosmetic issues, though. In terms of the fit, that's fine as is the way the shoes feel. My custom orthotics fit into them nicely so I actually use them, which makes my podiatrist (not to mention my ankles) happy. Overall, the pluses outweigh my gripes about the laces/tongue/lace up area.

This Asics shoe has less insole cushioning than the Gel Contend-5, but otherwise fits about the same. I added my own more cushioned insole to this one. Plenty of toe room and fit my somewhat narrow heel. This shoe is a good choice for outdoor work, short hikes, and is more utilitarian and not showing dust and scuffs. The laces with this Gel Venture-7 seem skimpier, made of a flatter, thinner material, and certainly not too long. I skip that last hole when lacing them.

Out of the box I like the shoes. Could be a smidge wider in the toe box, but they aren't too tight. I think they will be okay. The colors are navy and a dark blue-violet with a few small aqua accents. I really hope I've found a shoe I can buy a few pairs of that will last me a while. I'm tired of shoes i like being discontinued. I have high hopes for these shoes.

Shoe looks good and with some wear, hope the width will stretch to more comfort.

These shoes felt nice and supportive, but run about 1/2 size small.

Though marked as wide, they were too tight. I had to return them. Since there was very little arch support and the insole was not removable, I probably would have returned them for that reason as well. They were very lightweight, though. I was disappointed they wouldn't work for me.

These shoes are very comfortable, and are a good deal. Not quite as supportive as my Oboz, which are still the best shoes ever. Asics are cheaper, though. Not quite as much arch support. These have good toe room.

Very comfortable. Bought these for post foot surgery. I don’t love the look so much, but the fit and supportive nature is what I need.

I just received my second pair of Asics. I loved the firt pair and wear them at least three days a week walking. The second pair which I received a few days ago are very similar, but I like the Venture 6 better than the Venture 7. I liked the lacing and the tongue better on Venture 6 and also think they were a little better fit although both are the same size. They are both a very good quality sneaker, but in the future I suggest that you don't change things are don't need to be changed. I am returning this sneaker and will order another.

A good looking shoe. I thought they were comfortable enough. I returned them because the arch support needed was lacking..

I've been buying Gel-Ventures for a while now, and I ordered the 7 iteration without a thought. They are comfortable and sized true. Although I think the toe box is slightly narrower than versions 6, it's not uncomfortable. The one disappointment I had was that previous versions had the leather at the top widening into a protector that kept my toes from splitting the stitching as I've noticed with other sneakers. Unfortunately, that has been eliminated in the 7. I'm hoping there's some design secret that will keep that from happening, but I'm not optimistic. Otherwise, a good sneaker for a very decent price.

Shoe is comfirtable. Th material could be softer for sockless waer.

My daughter was measured for shoe size, and she is a size 5, her foot is pretty narrow too. We bought the medium size 5 in this shoe, but we have ended up returning TWO pairs due to being too small. We got the six in WIDE, and still snug in the toe box. We are now getting a size 7 in wide, to make sure she doesn't get blisters her first day of wearing them. WAY smaller than any other brand we've purchased... My older daughter got a size 9 medium in the same brand and that shoe was a perfect fit (true to size). Maybe the manufacturer is not consistent in their sizing?

Shoes fit perfectly on my troublesome Flintstone feet. The tongue was way too long and was up to the front of my ankle. Not an attractive look. Sadly returned.

love the shoe but need a higher arch support

My trusty 5 yearold ASICS are due for a replacement, so I must have ordered 10 pairs of possibilities (mostly ASICS). I focused on running shoes, but they all seemed more narrow than the pair I was replacing. I finally tried these, and they are almost exactly what I wanted. They are just the right width and length, and will be good for walking all day. I don't think they're right for jogging, but since I regularly have knee problems, I'm better off walking briskly for exercise. And these shoes are perfect for that. I'm glad I gave them a try, and they're coming to Europe with me.

Just to confirm what others have said....these sneakers are navy blue/purplish and nothing near resembling black as the description indicates. I buy new ASICS every four months or so as I am in the gym doing cardio 6 days a week and need the cushioning. I like the styling of these sneakers but doesn't feel as cushioned as other similar pairs I have purchased. I also think the toe boxes are a bit roomier than usual but it's not awful. And the shoe laces are quite long. I will keep wearing them but don't think I would repurchase them in the future.

I tried Asics on the recommendation of my podiatrist but found the first few styles I tried too narrow in the toe box. This style looked wider so I ordered them in both regular and wide width. The normal width was definitely roomier in the toe box than other Asics but it also felt loose in the heel. The wide width was huge on my foot. The bottom of the shoe is made for trails and very stiff. The design is great. The bottom is sort of gray instead of bright white. Good looking shoe but it doesn't look like Asics will work for me.

Too lose in the heel. The left felt worse than the right shoe in terms of my heel slipping. The shoe itself is very nice, the cushioning is awesome. I have always had luck with ASICS, which usually fit my narrow foot and support my high arches- this shoe missed the mark. Sad to send them back but so thankful that Zappos allows you to send shoes back after having worn them! I tried to love these, but didn’t work.

Great fitting shoe but the color is closer to dark charcoal rather than a true black. Everything else was great! Lightweight and comfortable.

Hard to fit feet due to their not exactly the same since one was broken. I was concerned because I didn’t have time to see if their well never mind breaking in _ they’ve been satisfactory. Only thing laces too short.
