This is a great LOOKING coat. However the way they designed the Velcro that holds it together, it leaves it so whenever you put it on or take it off it catches on the sleeves and the bottom of the coat immediately destroying the fabric. If it wasn't for this it would be great. Do not buy it though!

It looks and feels like a quality coat except the yellow color I prdered (it was the only color available in xl when I placed the order) was ugly and offensive. They made the return process sinple though.

The other comments are true!! It looks nice, but the velcro has ruined the sleeves and it hasn't even been a month. Dont waste your money.

I'm 6'7" and 277lbs. 2XL fits me perfect, but the sleeve length is too short. I tried 3XL, it fits too big and the sleeves are still too short for me. Never had issues with TNF sleeves in the past.

This was so close to being perfect but has a terrible flaw. First with the good: - 600 fill down is pretty warm - jacket is puffy but looks great and holds good form for most people. - seems reasonably water resistant - hood is adjustable and fur can be removed if you are not into it - good amount of pockets and zippers - arm and waist bands are comfortable and not too tight but tight enough to resist updrafts The bad: The jacket uses velcro all over. Normally, not a big deal and velcro can be great. The issue is that it catches onto everything and is ripping threads apart. I have to be very careful not to wear certain sweaters under this because if I open the front jacket, the velcro sometimes catches and rips my sweater. Even worse, the elastic bands on the wrists are made of material that also gets caught on the velcro. So sometimes when I zip up, it catches and rips into it. If I want to open my jacket briefly and reach for something in the internal pocket, it also catches on the velcro. Really really frustrating considering everything else this jacket has to offer. Other versions of this jacket (or even the now discontinued Gotham jacket series) used buttons instead. Why not just use buttons?? Please bring buttons back at least for the front zipper flap or make the zipper water/wind resistant coating.

I recently purchased the Mc Murdo jacket , and unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. - *Fit:* The body fit is good, but the arm length is too short. The extra large arm fit is a slight improvement, though the body becomes too loose. - *Material:* The fabric feels stiff and uncomfortable. - *Design:* The hood's cord rubs against the face, causing discomfort. Overall, I'm disappointed with the design and materials used. Compared to the older model from 10 years ago, this jacket is a significant step backward. I hope the brand reconsiders and releases an updated version next year that addresses these issues.

Bought this jacket on Monday 16 Feb 2026, and literally in less than 2 complete days of usage, this Jacket is leaking feathers terribly. I went back to the store and got it replaced & guess what; the replaced jacket leaked by the time I got home. I BEG NORTH FACE TO MAKE QUALITY JACKETS AGAIN. PLEASE "DON'T THROW AWAY THE TRUST & LEGACY NORTH FACE USED TO BE KNOWN FOR"

Avoid buying this jacket if it has Velcro. The Velcro repeatedly sticks to and rubs against the fabric, gradually damaging the jacket, which is clearly a design flaw. This is likely why the new design now uses buttons instead of Velcro.

No idea how this jacket would make it through quality control from a design standpoint. It has torn itself apart at the cuffs and waistband. I've had the jacket one season and it's destroyed. Buttons North Face. Velcro is convenient but doesn't work with the fabric you're using.

Got one last season and I'm actually putting off wearing it this year. It's so bad that I'm willing to wear my best up Patagonia for another season.

Very poor design! The velcro easily catches the cuffs and pulls apart the soft cuff material.

Super disappointed with the changes made the the McMurdo over the past few years. My first McMurdo from 2018 had a more luxurious fabric, the current version uses very cheap feeling normal nylon. My original used metal snap enclosures instead if velcro... The current velco version easily catches and pulls apart the soft cuff material. The snaps on the hood were metal, but are now plastic, so if I try to pick the jacket up by the fur hood liner, it just tears away from the rest of the jacket and I have to sit there and re-snap it all back together. My original had a built in face mask, the new version does not. This jacket used to be awesome, but currently it's nothing special

Jacket is warm and fits nicely. The design of the jacket is poor due to the velcro and how it sticks to every bit of clothing. It also sticks to the knitted area around your wrist and pulls that jacket. It ruins all your clothes

I bought a yellow murdo down adult medium bomber jacket for my son, it was great, warmth. Water repellent and fluffy. However I recently got a black one is completely different outer materials, feels super thin, not warm at all. I highly recommend the web site material descriptions needs to be updated

I would not buy this again. I bought one in 2018, was the warmest jacket. But bought one in 2022. The down is recycled down. The zippers get stuck. The hood is not detachable. It's just not a warm jacket anymore for north east winters. I wear a leather jacket under it and it's still cold. It's really sad I feel the company is sacrificing quality for profit, per usual. I will have to find an alternative. Really sad I bought this again. Will never buy another jacket from them, so will research other out door outfitters who actually use better materials. You can feel the difference between the 2018 and 2022 jackets, the 2018 had better materials, detachable hood, real down that was not recycled. It feels heavier. Anyways inflation, costs rising. But just make a better product, charge more north face! We will pay for a warm coat!

This jacket has one main fatal design. The velcro catches on the material of the sleeves and destroys it within a few weeks. I had to buy velcro and attach them to the velcro part of prevent them from sticking to the sleeve. This much money and they use velcro knowing it will pull off the fabric.

One of the worst designed jackets I've ever worn with THE worst return and exchange policy by any company. Velcro caught and damaged the sleeve and waist lining after only hours. After a single season they'd be destroyed. The North Face does NOT offer returns. Once the tags are off, the best you can get is store credit after 3 weeks of them "evaluating" the item. This is a terribly designed jacket and they are aware of it, they just don't care. I highly recommend looking up additional reviews before making this purchase.

Horrible quality! The sleeves would touch against the Velcro and the material starts to come off. It's a shame as the jacket was very warm. The faux fur lining is of low grade. Very uncomfortable against the skin. I have returned it as the quality of the sleeve will further deteriorate. A lot of other have similar complaints on this jacket.

The velcro on this jacket sticks to the cuffs on the arm and hip causing the material to snag and fray.
