I bought this jacket and really loved it, until I had to use the zipper. The zipper is not functional at all. I initiated a return today for another jacket with only one zipper! It should arrive by Friday. I was pleased with the Customer Service Representative as he was very helpful.

Great coat but the sleeves were so long they almost covered my hands. I had to return it. If you have very long arms, it would be a keeper.

Overall, the fabric is rather stiff, but I had to return the jacket because the sleeves were ridiculously long-down to my fingers.

It was well made, nice zipper, nice corduroy stripping, nice deep pockets, nice snaps...but it was so THIN that I would never pay that price for this jacket. As well, I have been getting M rather than PM as things are made so small these days but M still was too tight across the shoulders...a large would have been too long arms.. Sorry, I was so excited to get this classic looking jacket only to be disappointed. I had to return it. Wish things were made in USA as sizing would also probably be better.

I bought a large and the sleeves were long and loose. The shoulders were good but the body was very large. I returned it for a medium and the body and sleeves were much better but I could not move in the shoulders, way too tight! Sadly I am now returning the medium. I really loved the looks of this coat, but the cut/fit is just way off.

The jacket is lightweight and fits well; it's a very flattering fit. I'd love to give this jacket a much better review, but I haven't been able to get the zipper to function to wear it properly. I guess I can use the buttons instead but doesn't that kind of render the jacket technically broken/damaged? It's not even an issue of cheapness, it's just flat-out bad design.

Loved the look of this jacket but the arms are too long, it's too tight in the shoulders and the zipper is frustrating. I expect better from LL Bean.

I bought this jacket over ten years ago. I loved it and wore it every fall. I loved it to pieces, literally. I ordered a new one and the jacket is not insulated, the material is thin. I returned it. I did get the Cozy Quilted Jacket instead which was less expensive and insulated! I would recommend that jacket over the Riding Jacket.

I own an earlier version of this jacket and have worn and loved it for years. I decided that It was time to replace it with the updated version. Had to return it. Very disappointing. I ordered the same size as the one I own and the new was was too small, the zipper was a cheap version of the original, cut was boxy and the quality that I expected from LLBean was missing! In short a big disappointment!

So I just received this coat 2 days ago. It was zipped up and in a bag looking all nice. I take it out of the bag to try it on - an well I can't get the zipper to open and now it's all messed up. Going right back immediately. So very disappointed.

Purchased my original quilted coat in Oct 2012, this coat is inferior in many ways. First the positive: this coat has the holy grail of zippers "two-way"! Negatives, as compared to earlier version: Quilting is negligible, it's FLAT, also odd/cumbersome placement of side slash pockets, also NO INTERIOR POCKETS, original had TWO!

I am a poster gal for LLBean and was surprised a the lack of quality in this for the price. The zipper didn't work. The structure was limp and there was an overall lack of "outdoor" quality. It looks like something I'd find at a discount store.

The sleeves of this jacket were way too long for me, even though I am 5'8" tall. Also, the bottom of the jacket flared out too much in back. The jacket is well made, and the color goes with almost every color of pants.

The zipper on this jacket is cheap and sticks badly. I only wore it three times, and I struggled to unzip it on two of those times. I returned the jacket and was so disappointed, because otherwise it is well made and so cute.

Does not fit true to size, small. Also an odd fit through the chest are where it meets the arm seams.

First I ordered the XL but it was much too big. I returned the XL and asked for a L to replace it. The L came yesterday and is so tight across my upper chest that it is very uncomfortable in my upper arms and back to bend over to pick up something. Now I will return it for a refund.

Not thrilled with this. I followed the size guide and the jacket seems tight and I do not want to go up a size. Plus I want a longer length.

It's really a fashion jacket not a riding jacket nor a barn jacket. The fabric provides no warmth and it fits too snug. There are no inner pockets for cell phones and the outer pockets are too small for a phi epsilon to stay secure. The warmth rating should be a fall jacket 45 degrees.

I liked the look of this jacket but had to return it. The cut through the upper arms & shoulders was so binding that I couldn't raise my arms fully or cross them in a hugging motion.though I could easily zip it up. I wear a size 10-12 or size M in LLB jeans, shirts & sweaters. My arms are not large. I bought a size M. A size L in this jacket would have been too big everywhere else but likely still to tight at the top. Just not a well designed fit.

The coat has too long sleeves and an odd half belt that is too long in the furthest out position and if using the inner snap, it looks funny. I like the Olive green, but was disappointed the lining wasn't flannel, just cheap nylon. The item info. did say that, I overlooked it. On top of that, the coat is extremely light and not very warm. Poor quality all in all.

Every year I order this jacket in hopes the comments about the shoulder room will be addressed. This year the arms fit much better and are roomier and the body fits correct (Size SM). The shoulders still are a problem. Reaching forward (like driving) pulls across the back and the front of the shoulders. It actually pinches up front. Even when I size up one size (everywhere too big), the shoulders still pulled. I am a slim build and not large at all. What is up with this? Maybe it does not bother other reviewers but I cannot be comfortable in a jacket that cannot accommodate a minor arm reach like driving. I am so disappointed. Jacket is being returned again.

I purchased this jacket last year and initially loved it. Now that the weather has gotten cooler, I took out the jacket for this season and threw it into the washer and I laundered on gentle cycle in cool water as advised on tag. Upon removing from the washer I noticed the seam to the lining had all unraveled and split open. So disappointing. L.L. Bean's quality has declined and for the price of this item, I would have expected better quality!!

Only if the zipper be easier to operate will be much better, the jacket is not cheap, I expect it should upgrade the zipper

I got this riding jacket for Christmas and was very disappointed. The fit was boxy in the shoulders and bulged awkwardly when bending (like to go to ride). I had hoped this would be a nice layering jacket for me to ride my horse in and do barn chores, but it was all wrong too thin, poor cut, bad fit. The hardware seemed nice on the jacket and the look was nice, but it wasn't functional for what I needed and we returned it.
