I was so disappointed - should have heeded others' reviews. This jacket is very attractive, but it was very tight through the upper arm. I am a bit overweight, but definitely not obese. But I have always had heavier upper arms. This jacket was very small through the arm/shoulder, so unless you have very thin arms, look at something else.

For some reason, this jacket appears more shaped than it is in reality. Mine looked somewhat box-shaped, and was not flattering, so I returned it. I am of average size with a decent figure, but I want a garment to enhance my shape, not disguise it. If you don't care about those things, it is well-made and the ivory is really pretty.

Having trouble with the zipper--a double and which looks solid, but it's hard to operate. This jacket should have a detachable hood.It doesn't.

I loved this jacket - good workmanship, comfortable, great color. But the sleeves were way too long. I even considered keeping it and rolling up the sleeves (it looked kind of cute that way), but returned it because the price dictated that I not compromise - the sleeves should indeed be "petite" length.

I am so sad to say I had to return this. It is a beautiful and fits well. However, the construction of the zipper makes is VERY frustrating. The snaps work, but the zipper always sticks and snags at the most inconvenient times. The plastic they used may be issue.

The quilting in this jacket is thin, very thin. In fact, i can wear this jacket comfortably instead of a sweater in my 68-degree house. The plaid interior does not go well with the black shell, especially if you need to turn up the cuffs. The plus side is the front closure that snaps as well as zips.

Great jacket, but I do agree that it does run small, especially for woman like myself with a large chest. I ordered a large, and it was VERY tight, waiting for my XLarge to arrive and hoping that it fits! But the quality and style is perfect for fall and warmer winter days.

Almost perfect but sent it back. I got the XS and it was still too big. Something was off about it. Too boxy in the shoulders and loose in the back. The snaps on the sides are a great touch but they kind of didn't do much. If the side snaps tightened a little more I might have kept it but it just ended up looking too frumpy. If they make it a little more cut and less boxy I would LOVE this coat.

I'm 5'1, around 115lbs. I ordered the XS petite- the jacket is fairly boxy, but you can cinch the back with buttons so that helps. Still, the arms are too long, which I cuffed, yet the arms are still so boxy and out of proportion to the jacket. Disappointed because it looks very nice.

This is the second riding jacket I ordered. I bought the first one 6 years ago. The new one has less fiberfill and is not really as warm, but is sufficient most of the time with a heavy layer underneath. The one disappointment is the lack of pockets inside the jacket, like the older model. I really use those in the old jacket for my phone, keys, etc, and really miss them in the new version.

The riding jacket is just that, a jacket. I think I was expecting something a little more substantial, but should have known given the product name. I really like the inside pattern and overall look of the jacket. I do agree with other reviewers that the zipper is not well made and gets stuck. LL Bean, with the zipper issues documented per the reviews, why not improve the zipper?

This is a nice stylish coat and that is its best quality. The fabric makes the same noise as the shiny fabric on down coats. The sleeves are long, which is okay, but because of the raglan-like armholes, they are actually too short when I drive, the sleeves ride up that much. I would quibble with LL Bean's temperature rating. I was wearing it comfortably in 40-something temps, but the first day it hit 36F, I decided to test it with a warm, medium weight, tightly woven, merino wool turtleneck underneath. I was walking briskly, and after 20 minutes I was actually cold and no way would it work for me at 15 below. I would rate it more like zero to 50, not minus 15 to 35. Part of the problem might be cold air goes up the wide arms. However, it is stylish. The lighter colors are dressier and the darker ones are more flattering because the fabric is a bit shiny and shows your curves.

While I love the fit and style, this has tiny pockets. I can barely get my keys in the pockets. No inside pocket for a phone either.

Purchased two of these jackets. Khaki and Navy in size Large. Shoulder area across the back of the jackets was like trying to put on a straight jacket. Khaki jacket was tighter than navy. But both pulled when arms were brought forward. Have been extremely disappointed in LLBeans sizing recently. Seems I return more than I keep.Up

Boy, just let me repeat NYgal's review - down to the color (green was lovely) - but I AM busty and a bit heavier than she, and the PM was too tight across the chest, and the armholes and upper sleeves were proportioned or cut badly and that seam cut into your shoulder joint when you brought your arms forward e.g. to drive. I also wanted to comment on the weight: I WANTED a thin, non-bulky Spring/Fall coat - this would have been a bit on the substantial side but satisfactory.

I have ordered and returned this jacket three times this season. I have one I've been wearing for two years and I love it--just wanted a new color. But this is not the same jacket. It's a cheaper version--not as well made as my old one. I am so disappointed, but I will not be ordering a fourth one this year!

I love this jacket. It's classy and now the zipper is broken. It was never really easy to zip up in the first place, but it always worked until today when I was out in the freezing cold and was unable to zip it up. Luckily I could snap the jacket shot, but still.I've worn it five times and I'm past the return window. This is where I get peeped with LLBean return status when there's a defect in the product. Very frustrated.

I'm not sure where one would be "riding" in this jacket. When sitting on the horse, a two-way front zipper is needed for comfort and easy of motion. The bottom back of the jacket needs TWO "kick pleats" not just the single one in the middle. t

I was excited to receive this jacket. I had been wanting it for some time, thinking that the interior would be warm or with a thick material. When I received it, the material was flimsy and with the same feeling as the exterior. For me, this would be perfect with a quilted interior, more insulation and cotton. The fit was nice though. I sadly returned it.

Although this jacket fit across the shoulders and hips it was too tight across the chest. I was really sorry to have to return it. I'd looked long and hard for a lightly quilted jacket and this seemed to fit the bill.

I had an older version with same name and colors but cotton. This one was boxy and like nylon. Not the old riding jacket bak it went.

Bought this recently, and I will be returning it. I should have given other reviews more weight. Specifically, zipper is flawed, black color is more navy. In addition, it just is not as warm as I expected. I don't think this jacket is up to LL Bean standards.

While my measurements fit the sizing, the arms were too narrow to accommodate while also wearing a sweater. I would suggest ordering one size larger than you think if you intend to wear this coat more than a polo. I was uncertain how much longer the sleeves would be so I returned the item and bought elsewhere.
