I bought these to wear on a cruise. Eying that elastic waistband. My go to pants is the LL Bean Comfort Trail which I have in pants, capris, skort, and shorts and in every color. Needless to say I am well stocked. I decided to try these pants just for the elastic waistband. I first bought the pants in X-large but they were huge, exchanged for large which fit better but still a little loose. The shorts fit in X-large. The side zippered pockets were great. I was annoyed a little at first as I like to put my hands in my pocket but soon realized that zipped, I could securely stow keys, phone, credit cards, etc. The pockets were large enough to fit my kindle if needed for a free hand moment, The front lower cargo pockets were smaller then on the Comfort trail paints and came with a button instead of a zipper. These were too small to fit my phone. The rear pockets had a button and I prefer the rear to be zipped for security like on Comfort Trail. Despite all my pocket concerns, I did like the pants as they were very light weight and packed up much more compact than my trail pants. They also kept me cooler but surprisingly were warm enough in the chilly evenings. I even wore them to dinner with a dressy blouse. The elastic waistband was super comfortable and stayed flat without bunching. I am now eying buying a few more pairs and investing in the capris. If LL Bean is thinking of changing anything- I suggest adding zippered rear pockets and getting rid of the useless front cargo pockets. That was they would look dressier and more attractive. They could make the cargo pockets larger to hold a phone but the weight would drag down the lightweight fabric. I took both the Comfort Trail and the Camp Vista pants on the cruise. I tended to wear the Camp Vista on board while wearing the Comfort Trail on excursions. I liked the security of the zipped rear pockets which held passport, credit card, ID, ship key plus the zipped cargo pocket held my phone nicely leaving me to tuck my hands in the side pockets. With the Camp Vista, I felt less secure as the only zipped pockets were the side.

These are the most comfortable pair of hiking shorts that I own.

L.L. Bean pants are always great for me when I travel. When I tried the pants on, I was well pleased. I indicated "Somewhat Large" due to "Length" of pants. I expected this. I am short (5'1"). I always have to shorten my pants (I get this done by a alterations shop near home). These pants will be perfect for my planned trip to Europe in the fall. It looks like laundering the pants will be easy, and without a long drying time. I love having a pocket that zips for security.

Purchased for trip to California beach. Cool and comfortable while staying covered. I'm wearing them a lot in summer. Love the zipper pockets!

I bought these pants for the first time in May right before two weeks of travel to Europe. They are perfect for travel and look nice! They are very comfortable for long plane and car rides and sightseeing. These pants are lightweight but tough; very easy to wash and dry overnight. The pockets are handy. I bought 3 pairs and plan to wear them on all my travels.

These pants are great for summer wear. They are lightweight, don't wrinkle, and are very comfortable. I have ordered two more pairs because I like them so much.

After trying the medium, reg. according to the size chart, I exchanged for small reg. After talking to a representative, she suggested I try the small petite which worked just fine. I suggest that the size chart be changed!! The exchange was easy. The fabric is wonderfully soft and the pants very comfortable without being baggy or too snug. I bought these pants for traveling, and itheyturned out to be a perfect choice. I especially appreciated the easy elastic waist and the multiple pockets. The fit is loose and the nylon fabric strong, resistant to weather and perfect for summer travel. The elastic at the ankles was good for climbing.

So comfortable. I wear them for mowing and the fabric has stretch for comfort when bending and kneeling. The fabric is light weight, and comfortable in warmer weather. The waist band is soft and wide and has a draw string. The ankles also have drawstrings to increase protection. Thinking about a second pair. They've held up to several washings.

The material is very soft and comfortable and I love the wide waistband. I never wear an extra small, but after looking at the size chart I ordered the petite extra small and the fit is plenty roomy. Length is perfect too. Very comfy pants for any casual occasion.

I wasn't sure if I was going to like these after receiving them. I mainly ordered them for their pockets but after wearing them my first time on a very hot day I discovered I loved them! They didn't trap the air so I was totally comfortable. I would highly recommend them if you are thinking about ordering these.

These are now my favorite pants. Comfortable and well designed. Ordered the granite color and love wearing them. Went back today and got the navy also.

Now have brown, gray, green (olive). Wear all year. Easy wash and dry. Elastic waist is very forgiving. Pull-on style means no buttons!

Wonderful Summer pants - very comfortable fit - lightweight material - plenty of useful pockets! Washes well too! Disappointed that you ran out of the Khaki color before I got it ordered!

I wear these pants all the time when I'm not in work clothes. They're great for camping, hiking, walking the dog, lounging, competitions, projects, etc. If I could wear them to work I would. The ankle cinch means I can pull or roll these up into capris if it's warm. The numerous pockets ensure I have everything I need within quick reach if I don't want to be carrying or taking on and off a backpack or purse. My phone, huge as it is, fits in the thigh pocket just fine. I've been wearing these pants frequently for 3 years and only now are they beginning to wear thing between the thighs, so I've come to order new ones. At the time I bought them, a 2X was the largest they had in the store, and they were a little snug but eventually stretched out to me. Now I can get a 3X online so I'll be even happier.

I like the way the pants fit but I wasn't crazy about the style. Then I wore them hiking on a cooler day when I had nothing else to wear. They are awesome. It was a little drizzly so the trail was muddy. My pants got a little wet. They dried in a few minutes. The pants are roomy but feel and look great.

These pants are featherweight and comfortable. They will be great for travel. I like the look of the drawstring hem. I bought the green--a stylish (I think) neutral shade that will go with many things I already own.

Super pants. Thin material perfect for summer. Casual but a step up from shorts and be can be good for going out to eat, etc. Very comfortable. Dig the pockets. Got them in all colors. Laundry well.

High quality and well made. These pants are thin and lightweight so they're great for warmer weather but when you still want full coverage. The rise is also in the more natural range - not too high or low. Very happy with the purchase.
