I purchased these sheets after reading the Wirecutter review and initially they were fantastic. Very comfortable, smooth and breathable.
Unfortunately, after just 1.5 years of normal use, the flat sheet began to fray and tear - the stitching somehow got undone. I've never had sheets fray or tear before so I brought it to LL Bean's customer service because it seemed to be just a defect in that one sheet.
Customer service was extremely unhelpful. I was told that because I "should have known that I needed to regularly iron and fold the sheets" there was nothing they would do. It was frustrating to be blamed for not caring for a product in a way I've never heard of before, not recommended anywhere else online, and is not included in their own care instructions. I had no issues with the pillowcases or fitted sheet so it looks like just the flat sheet needs this special care.
Replacing sheets every other year at this price is too expensive.

I wanted to try something new and followed a review from the NewYork Times about these sheets saying these are the ones to purchase. First, these are well made. Not too crisp. The white is white. Breathable. Second, I hated the feel of them. They are slick. Near Sateen slick. There is supposed a break in period apparently, and after 6 washings they get better. I will not be giving them that type of time as I prefer to sleep and they prevented that. I do not recommend them.

We bought these (the most expensive sheets I have ever purchased) thinking they were the cream of the crop, but they certainly are not. Not luxurious or anywhere near as soft as I expect $160 sheets to be. We will be returning.

I get uncomfortably hot in these sheets which does not make for a restful night sleep. I will be returning them.

I am SO disappointed! I am replacing the prior version of this sheet set, which I LOVED, but after many years is beginning to show signs of wear. This version is completely different, absurdly smooth and slippery instead of the "natural" cotton feel of the prior version.

I was so disappointed with these sheets. At $150 or so a set one would expect quality. I nearly had a coronary trying to put the fitted sheet on my bed. It took the better part of a half hour and I was never able to get one corner fully down. The only good thing was that I was able to return them, but that cost $6.50.

They almost crackle. You can feel the threads with your fingertips and the feeling is rough. Not smooth and cool. Almost as if they have been treated with sizing. Not comfortable.

We bought these based on the Consumer Reports review and wow were they a disappointment. The sheets were stiff and scratchy to the point we had to remove the pillow cases the first night because they were irritating. The sheets only slightly improved after several washings. Cheap motels have sheets more comfortable than these.

Fit well, felt good, but the fitted sheet wore through where my feet touch in 2 years. Customer service blew off my complaint -- I was told to send back the entire set and maybe it will be considered defective.

I am very disappointed with these sheets. I purchased them because they had the highest Consumer Report rating. I always buy cotton percale sheets, and I have to say, these are the worst. If the sheets do not soften up in the next three months, I'll return them.

Sorry not satisfied with sheets. We liked the fact that they were longer and wider than our old sheets but they make a lot of noise like newspaper. Not happy with the product can we send them back?

These sheets were a splurge and I was looking very forward to getting them, especially after reading the great reviews here and on Wirecutter. They turned out to be thin and scratchy. I put a pillowcase through the wash to see if maybe the fabric would soften and thicken up. It didn't. I returned the set.

I've never been disappointed with any "Bean purchase before until now. I saw the reviews and ordered anyway. I washed a pillow case 5 times following the washing instructions and it still wasn't soft enough for me to use, had a scratchy feel to it. The only thing I liked was the color, matched the rest of my bedding!

Meh. These sheets are perfectly fine but honestly but they aren't worth the money you spend on them. You can purchase something very similar elsewhere for much less and it's about the same quality.

Thought I had found great percale sheets but after only a few years the bottom sheet thinned and tore! I expected many more years of use for the price and LL Bean product. So disappointed. Should have read the One Star reviews

Lasted 3 years on a guest bed, used/washed sparingly, fitted sheet tore. Chatted w/customer service, not much help. Remember the amazing guarantee LL Bean used to have? It, like the sheets, has changed for the worse. Get yourself something different, these aren't the sheets you remember.

I saw these sheets on several best of lists so I decided to give them a try. We ordered cream sheets in the queen size. As soon as I opened the package I thought something was off. They say "cream" on them but are almost certainly the sunlight sheets. They are almost a canary yellow. They also just swamp our queen bed. Maybe if we had a pillowtop they would fit better, but as of now we are just returning the sheets and will look elsewhere.

I can't sleep on the sheets. I have very sensitive skin and there's something that is irritating my skin. I also found the sheets very hot. I kept them for our guest bed because it seemed easier then returning them.

My brother, always wondering what to get me for christmas, sent me these sheets. He did his research and spent $150! I was so excited to try them. I washed them as directly prior to using, and wow, the material is not smooth, but rough to the touch and overall too scratchy to sleep comfortably. I would return them but had thrown all the packaging and gift receipt away thinking LL Bean sheets at this price would be the best sheets I own.

Unbelievably scratchy sheets that don't breathe. Wirecutter really got it wrong with their pick here.

I paid well over $100 for this sheet set thinking it would last more than 2 years. The fitted sheet just got a long rip in it. Very disappointed in the quality. It used to be that sheets lasted a long time. This is the most expensive sheet set I've ever bought. I also buy quite a few LLBean products as you can see in my picture. Duet cover, Maltese coverlet, towel sets, etc. (Waterhog mats, laundry room rug)

I ordered these sheets after seeing them recommended by wirecutter and the high star reviews. I'm not sure if got sheets from a bad batch or have highly sensitive skin but I am extremely disappointed. I had to start sleeping in pants and long sleeves, and eventually resorted to buying sheets from another company. Usually I am very happy with ll bean products, and am very sad these missed the mark. I'd recommend looking for sheets elsewhere.

I bought these thinking they will last a long time. They did not. The flat sheet got completely ripped along the edges after 2-3 years.

These are the most uncomfortable sheets I have ever slept on. The fabric is stiff even after washing. The flat sheet is way too big. I bought queen size.
