I have loved my Olympus 4, used them to hike in various countries. Need a new pair for my next hike, the 5s are too narrow. So disappointed.

I've worn the Olympus for longer backpacking trips for a few years now. I have a pair of Olympus 3.5 that are going strong but with plans for a big trip this year I was unsure I'd get another 150+ comfortable miles out of them and decided to upgrade to the 5's. After less than 100 miles in my Olympus 5's I started to notice some small holes on both shoes at the flex point - on both sides on one shoe! I was able to get through 160+ miles but the holes got bigger and bigger and I doubt they would have been useable within a few days. What the heck Altra!?? I still have a pair of Lone Peak 3's that are still in great condition with the exception of the worn down tread which is very much expected after 500+ miles of use on well maintained trail + numerous mountains and scree fields. I used to recommend Altra to everyone I know but I can't recommend a shoe that costs almost $200 and barely lasts 100 miles.

Why did you make so many changes from the previous model???? This one has almost NO toe guard compared to the Olympus 4-- which is a deal breaker for me!!! It's also quite a bit more narrow in the toe box & foot overall. I'm still undecided about the new "bubble" cushion that was put in around the ankle on the 5's as well. Also VERY sad that you got rid of the reflective details that the 4's had. Just why? I would have worn the 4's forever had you continued to sell them, or at least similar....now, I'll be looking for a different model of shoe entirely. Needed a wide toe box with a solid toe guard plate and that is no longer what these shoes are!!

I was an adamant loan peak user but needed more cushion and pronation support, which I like about the Olympus', however they are just shredding to pieces after only two weeks on trail. I'm super annoyed to have spent nearly $200 on a pair of shoes with peeling insoles and side mesh that's barely hanging on.

When I bought these shoes they fit so well I immediately purchased a second pair. Around 150 miles in, I noticed the soles felt weird. After checking what the heck was going on I realized the treads were peeling off - as in inches of tread flopping around, hanging off the bottom of the shoe, tripping me up on the trail. I got some gorilla clear gel glue that bonds in seconds and so far so good - but I haven't taken them on anything with challenging terrain, like scrambling or rough rocks. While I was waiting for the required 24 hour non-use after applying the glue I used my other pair. At 30 miles into wearing the new other pair, half an inch of tread had already peeled off. While I love how these fit compared to the 4's, I can't continue glueing shoe soles after spending the amount I spent on these. It's really unacceptable. The 4's are a bit too big and Altra doesn't make 11.5's in womens, but at least they can go 400 miles before I need to retire them.

Super sad that I spent so much money on a pair of uncomfortable shoes. Purchased from an outfitter on vacation so now I'm stuck! Others are correct in the toe box length is just off. I went up a half size like always for running shoes and they felt fine but on trail my toes hit the end of the shoe all day. They are cushy but stiff at the same time and shoe laces do feel cheap. There's also stitching already coming apart on the shoe. At this price point I expect better.

Not so good for road running. Not enough cushioning

Bought my normal size. Toes were jammed at the end. Why? Size consistency just makes sense, but not apparently for this shoe. I returned them and decided not to invest in a larger pair as I would have had to go up a full size and I didn't want to risk that they would be too large. Looking elsewhere.

I haven't had these very long and the tread is peeling off.

I bought these for a trip on a ship and sightseeing. They were so comfy and perfect. Got home walked on a couple local trails and the treads came off. They went back to the store still looking new! I was very disappointed.

The shoe tongue is really uncomfortable and kept on scratching my foot, in an uncomfortable way. I only wear short socks when I work out so this was bothering me a lot.

They are too small and would have been great if only they fit! I've worn Altras for a couple decades and have this exact size in other Altras that fit. This pair was painfuly too small! Altra's sizing has become inconsistent, which I've heard from other users too.

I'm not walking a lot, just about two hours a day, so about 12,000 steps. I got this shoes as a replacement for another pair where the top of the shoe got a hole in it after a month and the sole was pretty worn out as well. Long story short, the sole on that shoes peeled of in some areas after maybe two months, which is ridiculous for that price. I didn't bother to call them again. Looks like lots of people have similar problems with this brand.

Went back to the 4s after only 50 miles in these. They are too small and also my lugs all delaminated! I've had to glue them all back on to avoid tripping on the downhills. Outrageous.

I usually wear size 8 or 8.5 shoes wide . First, I ordered women's size 8.5, unfortunately, it was too tight and Pressure top my feet, and the foot was facing the front direction of the knicker and the tip of my big toe hit the front of the shoe, and then I ordered women's size 9, unfortunately, it was too tight and put pressure on the top of my foot. I don't recommend people have bunions and wide feet .

The color had me giddy but the size is so off. Across the foot it's so narrow. And the heel cushion is taking up all the foot space so that the toe is crammed at the front. I hate them

Love my other 2 pair but those wore out quickly so ordered these. They never came. Going to have to file a dispute with the credit card company now. I tried to order again but they were out so I ordered again and another pair different ones showed up. Shoes are great if you can get them. I'll never order direct again.

I have bought two pairs. within a month the bottom sole is coming unglued. I have tried to glue the treads but it doesn't hold. I am so disappointed. They are comfortable shoes, but they don't hold up to daily wear
