I had bilateral hip replacement in mid October and was advised to get these due to the low drop feature. They do provide a wide toe base for me to reestablish my balance, they need more cushion in the footbed though.

Trying to replace my beloved Escalante 2.5! The Escalante 3 are terrible, so giving these a try. They are a little narrower than I like, cushioning is fine. No problems with the tongue as others mentioned. There does seem to be an issue with the toe box - it is kind of bending inward? Not sure why this is happening. I'll keep for now until the Escalante is updated/replaced.

Due to change in upper material my usual size felt narrow. Ordered same model in wide. That did the trick.
I'd also recommend:
Brooks Ghost, Hoka Bondi and Clifton.

I used to think I had "impossible feet" - really wide in the toe box, narrow in the heel, and kind of square across the top. Every shoe I've ever bought has been a compromise in some way. Finally, FINALLY, I've found a shoe that works. The Altra Torin is actually shaped like my foot! And the wide fits perfectly in the toe box, without being too wide in the heel. I've found only a couple of drawbacks. As many others have said, the tongue is too long. Sometimes, especially on a longer run, it irritates my leg in the front of my ankle. I've also found that they have started to wear across the top a little (but in fairness, I noticed this at about 250 miles). Lastly - the wide shoes are only available in one color - navy blue. I buy my shoes based on the comfort, not the color, but c'mon Altra, those of us who wear wide shoes would also like a bit of a range of colors!

I was advised to get his show by my PT as I had bilateral hip replacement in October and needed to have a shoe with a minimal drop and wide toe base as I "relearned" the proprioception I lost. I have a higher arch and found out I had been buying shoes all wrong. With the right size and the right insert for my arch support these are perfect. Up to 2 1/2 miles a day! I have Hokas that I abhor, these are much better! The tongue is a non issue, don't know what all the fuss is about!

I love the wide toe box of these shoes! Finally my feet are happy! I have to go up 1/2 size but I do in most running shoes so no big deal. Just wish they offered more color options in wides.

I liked this show a lot but if you wear a wide you will most likely need a wide. I wear a size 8 and these fit true to other 8s but if you are needing more toe box room I would size up half size (for lunges etc)

These shoes are very comfortable with lots of support. I have enjoyed wearing them. The only negative is that they are very plain and not cute.

These shoes are very comfy right out of the box. I often get pain on my heel from running shoes but these were cushioned enough that I had no pain. I love the the shoelaces we're stretchy. I just don't love the look of the shoes, but the comfort is worth it.

I wore these shoes as leisure shoes first to see how I would like the comfort and to break them in. They felt very light weight and comfortable. The grip on the bottom is excellent and actually something important I look for when purchasing shoes. The only complaint I have is at the toe of one of the shoes, there is an odd indent/ fold due to how the front was bonded together. This is only on one foot and I can tell it is a manufacturer error. I don't think I will be doing any running or heavy activity in these due to how uncomfortable this is on my toe throughout the day. I think if this wasn't an issue these would be great shoes that would last a long time.

Went from Torin 4 to this Torin 6. Love the added cushion, and because I have narrow feet this new slimmer design works for me. I have limited selections due to Womens size 11.5, I wish Altra offered more styles in 11,5. The navy is great for winter, or any season. Toebox same as past shoes. Also thank you for the higher heel padding, which allows the high lacing option, helps tongue stay in place. Only reason got a 4 star instead of 5 is that the stretch laces aren't the best. Prefer cotton laces without stretch. You do have to readjust them over miles. I hiked 6 miles on steep terrain ( only because I left high top hikers at home), were comfortable out of box. Yet, would not recommend for hiking tough terrain due to instability of ankle on uneven terrain.

This sneaker was amazing!! It wasn't narrow, like typical sneakers that are on the market. These were comfortable and highly cushioned-I felt like I was walking on air! I have heel spurs and usually have a hard time with the backs of shoes rubbing-these were so supportive of my heel! I would recommend these to any runner/walker or tired mom!!

It felt slightly smaller compared to other shoes but no issues due to the wide toe box! I will definitely be repurchasing at a later date. The wide toe box seems natural and should be included on all shoes.

These shoes feel very minimal and lightweight. Based on how minimal they look and feel, I wasn't expecting great support while running but I was surprised they actually do give some support - not quite as much as I need, but probably good enough for younger runners or runners with stronger arches.

After wearing these for over a week while exercising, I came to a few conclusions. These shoes are very lightweight compared to my other running shoes. Your feet don't get too hot because the material allows venting for air. The sole is so comfortable, it's like walking on clouds.

Altra Running Women's Torin 6 delivers comfort and balance all in one. I really enjoyed the new Altra Running Women's Torin 6 for running indoors and outdoors as well as regular treadmill. The design offers low impact for my joints and a premium performance. I'm new to the Altra Running Shoes brand but after using it for a couple weeks, it has become on of my favorites !

The shoes fit perfectly and I much preferred the lower profile to the Paradigm shoe, but the tongue is weird and it actually cut into my ankle area on top of my foot. It was uncomfortable after only having the shoe on for several minutes. I had read other reviews stating similar experience and now I see what they mean. Too bad because overall it appears to be a great shoe

I really love the Torin; however, the tongue cut both of ankles after my run. Please, please for the next model revert to the tongue used in the Torin 4. This is my only complaint. Otherwise the shoe feels terrific underfoot and the wide toe box is pleasantly spacious. I guess I can try wearing higher socks on the rest of my runs. If the tongue gets fixed, I'd absolutely buy again and again!

I love these shoes. I've been wearing Torins forever. I really like the new heal on these, don't love the tongue. Shocked you kept this tongue after the Torin 5 tongue disaster. But I still love the shoe. Every once in a while I go try a bunch of other brands but always come back because they just fit my foot the best, my toes need ROOM. But please Altra, I am BEGGING you, please make these in a wide in more colors! I would like to buy multiple pairs but don't really want 3 pairs of identical navy shoes. I don't even like navy, and yet here I am wearing navy shoes because I need the wide. Help me out.

I'm always hesitant to buy a new version of a shoe. I wore three pairs Torin 5s while training for the NYC marathon and loved them. My 6s arrived yesterday and the improvements made are subtle yet positively noticeable. Adjustments were made to make the tongue softer (note: I wore quarter and short quarter socks, so the Torin 5 tongue was never an issue). The laces are a bit longer, so I can create a heel lock when/if needed. I never had an issue with the heel cup on the 5. Now that the heel cup is softer and higher -- wow! I love it. This shoe is true to size for the torin. In other brands, I wear an 8.5. In the Torin, I wear a 9.5. This was true for both the 5 and 6. Width is awesome and the upper sole is very breathable. My feet/knees are looking forward to the run tomorrow!

Other than the sides of the tongue wanting to curl under, I love the comfort, look and feel of my new Torins. Takes a little extra time to make sure the tongue is unfurled and flattened while I put them on, but it's worth the few seconds.

So disappointed that the soles of this shoe came apart around the 9 month time line. It is the most comfortable shoe I've worn. Tried gluing, even stapling! Lot of money for short time period.

I was very nervous to buy this shoe after reviews of the 5, but was pleasantly surprised. Slightly narrower than the 4.5 (which I loved), but provides better sole support to prevent ankle / foot rolling, and seems like it won't wear as quickly. Tongue is different than the 4.5 but not terrible - definitely not a dealbreaker for me. Looking forward to many adventures in these shoes! A bit wider of a toe box and I'd give it 5 stars.
