Not enough cushion. I had to purchase half size up because there was no wide width

I went on a six day and five nite backcountry trip. The shoes didn't hold up. They are expensive for a one trip use. Really loved the comfort in the trip.

I'm a big fan of the Speedgoat 5, so I thought this version would be the perfect hiking shoe. But the fit was so different. There was much more volume in the shoe, pretty much everywhere except the length was as expected. If you have a larger than usual foot volume, or wider feet, this would be a good choice. Great color and styling.

running a 1/2 trail race so thought i would try speedgoat mid shoe over usual stinson. while they are comfortable and stable, the cush that I am used to is not there as much as i like. The color design really could be better for a trail shoe.more neutral would be nice. not sure I will keep them as my 57 year old feet and knees like the shock absorption of the stinson better but wanted to try a little more narrow trail runner.

I still have to try them out on a hike but overall fits well! Didn't like their customer service and long wait for shipping. My husband ordered another pair he wanted to later exchange For a different color, after 20 days waiting they messed up the exchange and said will be refunding him back a lot of time lost in waiting..

I am not wide footed by any means and sized up according to the listing. No matter how I lace the shoes my toes start to lose feeling. Sizing up didn't help and made it too loose length wise

I have worn Hokas for over 6 years and have always worn the Speedgoats. This pair is a big disappointment. I have been trying to break them in for a month and they are still stiff and uncomfortable. I usually can break them in in just a couple of days. I have feet problems and have always depended on my Hokas for all day wear.

I've only had these a few months now and only been on two trails that really gave them a run for their money (they were a pricey shoe). And yet, there's a few scratches on one shoe where color is lifted up on the purples and showing orange scratches. My feet are also extremely sore today after an hour trail. It seems the soles although extra comfy on the outside, I could feel the pressure in the inside sole and insert pressing against my foot and left bunion. Up until this they seemed ok, but I'm not sure they are fit for a extra hard trail. Also, I've noticed a little noise when I pull them off, like the inner ankle support is coming loose. It's like a cracking sound, it's rather strange. After initially having to send them in as soon I got them due to a defect, I hate to think I might have to send them back again. But at least they were super quick on the exchange.

I was looking for a mid height, GTX, with Vibram soles. I didn’t see any that came in wide width. I was hoping these might work but the tie box was too narrow. Wish there were ones in wide.

The soles are great. Great grip, great cushion. But at the ankle and above, it keeps protruding in my flesh and makes it very uncomfortable for hiking. I am going to try it with longer, thicker, socks and hopefully it will feel better.

The right boot had a flaw that poked into the ankle. The left boot fit great.

This would have been my third pair of speedgoat high tops. I loved this shoe because of its wide toe box and fit for my narrow heel. Unfortunately, they changed the shoe so that the toe box is the standard narrow shape of most women's shoes. So disappointing. I wish manufacturers would change the name of a shoe when they change the shape. Returned.

If I could have gotten into them, I would keep them. Since it was higher up than regular sneakers, it was too hard to put them on and get them off.
I'd also recommend:
Brooks, Asics, Nike

I have hiked in a lot of Goretex boots, but have never worn any as hot as these. My feet have never sweated so much. Also ..the tongue needs more cushioning. Too thin. The midfoot area is very wide in these shoes. Too wide for my feet.

I tried to like this hiking boot design with the extended Hubble heel. I believe this heel adds too much room around the heel - no matter how tight you lace ... the heel is going to have wiggle room and cause blistering. Yes HOKA this was the right size (LOL). I saw your comment with the other customer who complained about blistering. I normally take an 8.5. But the 8.5 was too long - way too much distance between toe and tip of shoe. I have a narrow foot and felt this style of boot did a great job with fitting people with narrow feet. The Boot went on so sweetly and felt quite comfortable. However, after I hiked - two miles on a natural path with elevation, (within a mile) I could feel the blistering. Now I own a 8.5 Columbia hiking boot - had it for years!!! All my shoes are a 8.5 (Brooks and Merrill) and never felt the blistering or heel movement like I had with these HOKAs. The first pair of HOKA GTX Goat Trail - I bought at a very reputable place (Playmakers) - the sole insert on the right boot was glued improperly - so that part of the insert rode up the medial wall inside that shoe - part of the side of the heel. That pair was returned and I bought the exact boot directly from HOKA. Again, those were returned, and is what prompted me to write a review. The second issue I had with these boots, after four hikes - the boot looked like I owned it for ten years. My ten-year-old Columbia Boots look great - super in fact. I still wear these for all seasons - and take great care of them. I am an avid hiker - I know about proper sizing and lacing. That's okay - I know many people like HOKA - HOKA just wasn't for me.

My husband bought me these because I love hoka. I'm really disappointed because they are expensive and claim to be waterproof. We hiked and they got wet and my feet had many blisters.
