I live on a ranch and am on my feet all day. The tall, waterproof tops are perfect for wet grass in the mornings and small puddles. The soles keep me from slipping when hiking. Great shoes!

I have been looking for trail runners that offer cushioning with added ankle support and found that with this shoe. Living in the PNW the Gore-Tex was a must and having hiked in the rain, fully stepping into a stream and hiking to several waterfalls I can confirm these keep your feet completely dry. I am normally a size 10 in shoes and after a fe hikes in these I've decided to exchange them for a 9.5, I felt the fit was too loose and my foot was moving around too much to be 100% satisfied. So I would recommend sizing down a half size.

I have multiple pairs of Hoka's for various situations (work, walk, etc). These shoes were comfortable right out of the box - supportive in the ankles with room in the toe box (I have wide feet). Wore these for multiple hikes in the Park City mountains and they felt great! Highly recommend!

These shoes are very comfortable, provide good support, protect the ankle, and held up in muddy conditions. I had the other boots that laced up, and it was hurting my ankle. JC was incredibly helpful and suggested this boot. These don't present that problem and were great on 10 mile hikes over rocky terrain.

I am really enjoying these shoes! I have had a pair of Hokas previously, but I thought they were a bit too tight. After reading various reviews, it sounded like I should size up as several reviewers said they felt narrow and I am glad I did just that. I haven’t had them long, so we’ll see how they hold up!

I bought this pair of Hoka for hiking and they are amazing. No break in needed, no issues, the fit is perfect, they are light, supportive, waterproof. No pain after mails and mails of hiking.

I go on 3-5 mile walks and hikes 5 days a week with an active puppy that loves mud and water. My speedgoats are comfortable, stabilizing, sturdy, and best of all, water and mud proof. I rinse them clean every day in a running stream. I get compliments on them when I wear them in the store with jeans, an unexpected extra. I've been recommending them to my outdoor active friends and family! I was looking for a high quality hiking, walking shoe and these more than satisfied those requirements. HOKA FTW!

I am a female trail runner and hiker, still recovering from a very challenging foot and ankle injury which happened more than 3 years ago. The Speedgoat Mid were the only trail shoes that worked for me and, with a podiatrist designed insert for the injured foot, I could return to the trails with no problem. I tried many other brands and all had to be returned. Since I only had the one pair, I pretty much wore them out and ordered these new ones, hoping the quality hasn't gone down. I was pleasantly surprised that they seem to be even better than my first pair and were comfortable right out of the box on a steep hill. Thanks Hoka! :)

The sizing may have changed slightly since my last pair of Speedgoats as I went up one-half size. The new size is slightly bigger and the old size was too small

I used these in RMNP after a spring snow storm and they kept my feet dry. We hiked up some trails and they did not have any sore spots. I wear size 8 and they fit just right. I was leary of ordering a half size up, as I had a pair of Anacapa hikers in 8 1/2 that left terrible blisters in my toes but I did more downhill descents at Yosemite and much longer hikes in the heat. first time that I had a problem with Hokas not working well, so I went back to size 8. I hope to use in warmer weather, but may switch to my speedgoat lowtops.

Only been out a couple times. Super comfy right away, no break-in period needed. Haven't been able to test the waterproofing yet. Love the bright colors too. I did order a size larger than normal.

I love my Hoka Speed Goat hikers. They are the most amazing colors. I have purchased several Hoka shoes and 2 pairs of the Speed Goat hikers. Lots of cushion in these shoes. Will buy again.

These high ankle shoes have one flaw: the tongue moves to the side while I'm walking! If they don't stop doing this, I will have to return the shoes.

I purchased this because I had a great experience with speedgoat mid 4. I was excited to see this on sale and grabbed it. As usual, Hoka always feel great out of the box. No break in period, went for a 10 mile run this weekend and felt something is different. The springiness is not there and so is the cushion. While its still a nice trail run shoe, this feels more like a hiking shoe than a hybrid of both. With the speedgoat MID 4, I couldnt tell the difference between my regular speedgoats and the mid. Bummer because I really loved it.

Quick Review: I don't have wide feet but the toe box was too narrow and made my little toes numb after about an hour so I had to return them.

My Use Case:
I had very painful plantar fasciitis for about a year after getting my dog and walking her 3x a day. Tried Hoka Bondis but although they were comfortable, the soles were too firm for my PF at the time. I also tried other brands. Merrell Bravada 2s and Hoka Challenger 7s (plus taping) finally saved me and I'm sticking with those now that I'm healed. However, I'm also looking for something with more ankle support on rainy, muddy trail walks with my dog here in the PNW, which is why I tried these Speedgoat 5 Mid GTXs. I also have high arches.
Review Details:
Really liked these. Good cushion and moderate support for my high arches. Ankles felt secure. I also just really liked the color/style! So I thought I'd be keeping them and giving them a real shot on walks. But after wearing them around the house for about an hour to make sure, my little toes started tingling/going numb. For reference, I'm a pretty firm Women's 7.5 in most shoes and in other Hokas. (I also always reference the size chart by my actual foot measurement in CM to make sure I get the right size, just in case.) I'm also a regular/medium width, never a wide. I don't have this problem in my 7.5 medium Challenger 7s, Bondis, Merrell Bravada 2s, etc.
These do fit in the 7.5. If I went up to 8 they'd be too long and my feet would definitely slide. During the test period around the house, they weren't overly tightly laced. Neither the vamp or tongue were pressing down too tightly (even with my high arches). So they're either a bit more narrow in the toe box than other Hokas I've had or require an extra break-in period around there? Which, if so, I'm not willing to risk trying at this price (since I can't return once I wear them out on the muddy trails they're intended for). So I unfortunately took them off and packed them for return.
