Loved the comfort and style, I have flat feet and are comfortable good shoe but! They don't like wet areas they are a pair of skates. Had a bad fall but recovered. Feet sweat alot.

I love Hoka. I've bought at least 7 pairs and have been a huge fan, particularly for my plantar fascitis. Unfortunately, the Speed Goat 5 shoes run narrow (for me) and a Wide is not an option. I did a small preparatory walk/hike in these for an upcoming AT Hike and was very disappointed when I realized these would not work! If you need a 2E, don't fool yourself into thinking you can order a size up. It won't work... I will continue buying Hokas for walking and running, but no widths for these hiking shoes is a huge miss by them ?

I am a surgeon and I've come accustomed to wearing hiking shoes in the OR because they have the perfect balance of comfort, support, durability and waterproofing (easier to clean). I own a pair of Hoka Bondi 7's that I wear casually and after putting FP insoles in them, they are my most comfortable shoes So I was really excited about these. I'll tell you, the build quality is excellent and well worth the price. Unfortunately, they are very narrow in the toe box and they almost have a rocker feel to them which I'm not into. The cushioning isn't as plush as I expected either. These didn't work for me but I'm hoping to find an alternative GTX from Hoka that will work.

Moving up to a larger size shoe help some, but not being able for this particular model of shoe to adjust the impact point (Height dispersion between hill and toe) limited a proper fit for my foot. Since the bottom line question on gives you a yes or know selection, I will clarify here my response. The system needs work as far as how to modify and adjust the fit and orthopedics of the shoe, instead of it (the system selecting for you).

I'm a hoka fan, let's put that first. I've written articles for various publications indicating as such. The speedgoat series and I have a love-hate relationship because of one thing - THEY TAKE FOREVER TO DON AND DOFF. I love the lightweight vibes, but holy cow, these take a minute a piece to get on or off. Having quick lacing would solve this at 30 extra grams. Completely worth the time.

I'm an ICU nurse. I'm on my feet for 10-12 hours. Need support. Unfortunately the upper part of the shoe is uncomfortable. I can tie it fully it cuts around the ankle. Also the foot box is tighter than most Hokas.

I liked the regular speed goats, so when I saw they had a GTX model I decided it would be a good option for walking on the beach and mushroom hunting in wet forests. For that purpose, I chose the mid height version. I have the anacapas in mid and like them very much, although they are heavier. I had to use a Dr Scholls insert on top of the Hoka insert in the speed goats to make them fit right, but without a loop on the back to assist with pulling them on, they are very difficult to put on and they get crushed. For that reason, I would not buy them again.

Color faded from black to grey after single use 12 hour shift, I would love if they made a more rugged durable boot that can withstand the use in EMS. I have a feeling this pair will last 6 months. But definitely saving my feet right now.

My shoes are comfy and true to size, but there are already spots on the sole of my right shoe where the outer tread is lifting/pulling apart from the cushioned sole. I'm not a runner and have only worn them for walking, stationary biking, and elliptical training I'm hesitant to get another pair now.

I really wanted these to work. They look great but are very narrow. They are supposed to be a D width but aren't. The top fabric has no stretch to it so they won't adjust to a slightly wider foot. I wear an 11 in the Kaha 2 GTX and every other Hoka I have owned so I ordered the 11 Speedgoat Mid. They are just too narrow. Adding to that the goretex lining is an additional bootie that further restricts your foot entry. They then neglected to add a heal strap on the back of the shoe making it very hard to get your foot in an already tight fit. I really wanted these to work for lighter summer hikes. Returning. They ask if you would recommend this to a friend. If you wear a narrow shoe size yes, if you need a little more room no.

I bought this speedgoat expecting a similar feel of the previous model. This version has a familiar thud feeling like any other shoe. Also the arch seems less supported or absent altogether, perhaps was modified by a more flat footprint. Why do companies have a good thing going and drastically change it? Btw, no one needs a swallow tail heel tab thing. Stop putting useless aesthetics first and get back to what you do best. What we want: cushioned bouncy energy return, a normal arch, pull tab, normal tongue, long enough laces that fit whatever size you order, incremental changes.

These shoes were to replace my Hoka Speedgoat 2 hi top.
They are not as high and therefore less ankle support.
The insole is now thinner and made from cheap material.
The sizing have changed . 8.5 men was my size with 6 pairs . Now it's really big and the 8 is quite tight.
Disappointment.

first things first I am a loyal, hoka supporter and being a mail carrier that walks 15/16 miles a day. These are the worst pair of hoka's, I've ever purchased. These are not meant for long walking my feet were in pain after the first month. I was so excited because they are high tops somewhat I need ankle support, and these were a big disappointment and to top it off I got two other coworkers to purchase these shoes and let me down. And have gotten over 20 mailcarriers wearing hoka's. I want to be the first mailcarrier to have a sponsorship with hope. Just putting it out there.

I have multiple pairs of Hokas and love them. Gaviotas and recovery slipons. These Speedgoats are narrow and difficult to get on especially with no pull loop on heel. They're also difficult to remove, they definitely do not breathe. Once on while they are hot the support is better than good and they are stable. But they do run small.

Getting in and out of this mid height boot is challenging because it doesn't have speed laces. It's also very tight in the tow box even for a 12 D size and after using hoka sizing chart measurements.

I own three pairs of Hoka. The Clifton 9 are . The Speedgoat 5 Mid GX and also the Challenger 7 GTX don't provide me with enough toe room. Never ran in a wide but now considering? They are also very hard around the toe area, like a hard plastic. Maybe it's the GTX feature? Got me considering going back to Saucony

I use them for climbing on and around three waterfalls that I have to maintain at a Resort. The worst thing is they are very hard to lace up and take off, It takes me three times longer to lace them than my other shoes.
They look great.

These shoes are way too soft and feel very spongy. They aren't robust enough for "Goating" or moderate hiking/running. I don't know who designed the shoe's tongue, but its absolutely TERRIBLE. Getting into and out of these shoes are a nightmare. The shoestring holes should have metal eyelets to allow easier tightening and shoestring loosening. They are however, very nice for everyday walking on concrete, asphalt, and gravel. I wouldn't use these shoes on moderate or significant unimproved trails because they feel like Jell-O!

I like the shoes, the design and comfort on the sole. But these shoes are not for wider feet, I tried them on for a day and they were pretty much squeezing my feet. Making it feel numb and gave me pressure sores on my bunion. I really wanted to like these shoes but they were just not for me. I wish they have a Hiking Boot with GTX for wider feet.

We love Hokas. I bought these for my husband and after one day he could barely walk. Excruciating ankle and knee pain. They're being returned. Very odd. We'll still buy Hokas, but not this type.
