I would certainly recommend this shoe.
However, due to the waterproof sleeve, I would order 1/2 size larger than actual size.

I picked the mid-ankle Speedgoat as a lightweight hiking boot alternative to the Anacapa. I owned two previous generations of low-cut Speedgoats for trail running which I liked, and two previous generations of the Anacapa. I got a third pair of Anacapas recently that had an obvious design change: boxier, wider, stiffer, less conformant to the feet - more durable I suppose but feet shifted uncomfortably on hill traverses. The Speedgoat is a much more conformant fit and works for me as an off-trail dayhiker. Has to be waterproof for me due to lots of dew in fields and off-trail woods brush. One small complaint: They squeak! Even on dirt trail. Mid-sole squeaking? Otherwise awesome!

Very comfortable shoe. Great for backpacking to walking around the city.
The sole is very soft so it will wear quickly on hard surfaces.

So far the comfort of these shoes has been pretty great. The loan exception would be I wish they made them in Wides, so my wide foot would be accommodated a bit more.

I bought this for my time in the mountains where I was for about three months and it was perfect for the rough terrain! I didn't feel my foot was completely safe when it came to running through forest hazards like bushes or thorn bushes otherwise I never slipped or felt unsafe in the friction! Shoelaces could be a little longer.

Comfortable but with good support. It is quite a heavy shoe though.

I use these hiking the trails and on trips into town. They seem to fit a little tighter than my Hoka boots, so I've ordered thinner running sox. They are a bit snug with thick winter sox. I'm planning on doing the "Bare Buns Fun Run wearing them.

This particular Hoka I am definitely going to need a size change to a US 10E. The 10D is uncomfortable.

Nice improvements from the SG4...lighter and less bulky. Needs a loop on the back to assist w/pulling on. Missed the boat by not offering this model w/spikes. Bought the SG5 GTX w/spikes but feet and ankles get wet w/low profile.

I have had 2 pairs of the Speedgoat Mid 2 GTX previously, which I loved. I wish Hoka had not discontinued them.

The boots have been great for a couple months. Have shoe glue on hand though. I don't know if my left boot was poorly crafted. I have had to shoe glue it like ten times. The right one I have not had to glue once though

I am on my second pair of Hokas. I like the shoes I like the quality, however I think you skimp on the inserts. I need to buy power step inserts from a different source.

I have used these several times to take my dogs on trails for exercise. They are very comfortable and seem pretty waterproof. I think the price is a bit high but if they stand up to the rough treatment over time they will be worth it.

The boots are fast and agile but also tend to roll and flex over rocks. The lugs are good uphill but not grippy coming down. The cushion is ok, I'll probably add a liner. Pricey, I worry about their longevity.

Have planar fasciitis? Best golf shoes thus far, lightweight, support, waterproof and stable.

I use these for hiking and like my previous high top speedgoats they are perfect for hiking. Being GTX they are also great for rainy days or damp grass. I also have the new speedgoat low tops which I love. The one suggestion is to make the last/top shoelace eyelets hooks rather than holes. It would make putting the shoes on easier. I do not like the fit of the low top GTX version.

Very comfortable hikers.
Was presently hiking in some melting snow and mud. Feet became wet after just a few minutes and 1/2 mile. GTX doesn't add much.

The shoe is perfect except it's sold as a trail shoe
And it has exposed foam on the bottom. Two weeks into wearing mine a huge chunk of foam came out. The entire sold should be the thin rubber.

Very happy with the feel and dynamics but when you sell a mens black on black GORE-TEX shoe it should not be purple! At least be honest in your marketing of the shoe. I've run through a dozen pairs of Hokas, sometimes up to 500 miles a pair but please be more forthcoming about colors. You knew in sunlight this shoe radiates purple, and the ultra-deep-purple looks darn good if that's your thing. But it's definitely NOT black on black. The good news is I have 4 other pairs of Hokas so if I'm really not feeling like sporting purple one day and don't need the GTX I have other colors that showed up as expected.

The tongue of shoe is thin. Would be nice if more padded since a hiking, trail running shoe

I tried on some hokas in store, i believe the "breaze", 12s were a perfect fit and felt like walking on clouds. But these speedgoat 5 size 12s are definitely to small. They were comfortable other than being too small, so I will be returning them and getting a size larger.
