I work as a dental assistant and my feet always swells (edema) and I went from having chronic plantar fasciitis on my left feet to now a new Bunion issues on both toes with ongoing Metatarsalgia which hurts a lot.
I went to Footlocker and tried on the Regular Width which were so comfortable; I walked out w/ them on. But, once I wore them; I knew I had to switch and order Wide Width due to all my sores and foot pain conditions. I returned the Regular Women's Mach 5 in Black/ White, and ordering a Wide Width. I this sneaker so much, I might order second pair, different color, still in Wide Width for Black Friday next week! I felt like I fell into the clouds when I first tried them on and comparing to all my previous memory cloud foam sole sneakers, I think this Hoka Mach 5 is the best running shoes I've ever worn/ bought! I am awaiting my custom orthotics and will try them with them before starting physical therapy again.

I ordered these on 10/9 and they arrived 10/11, I thought it would be atleast another day or two but they came super fast with free expedited shipping. They are beautiful, I had been searching hard for an all black women's shoe with color and finally hoka got it right! I literally thought I was walking on a bouncy pillow. I wore them today and walked a few city blocks, so comfortable and helped me move better. I work in a pharmacy so that's gonna be the real test when I wear them to work. I did have to change the way the shoe laces were laced because it was too tight around my ankle (I had ankle surgery 2 yrs ago and it swells still). They came with two lace sets. A solid black and rainbow, I was happily surprised. I'm extremely happy as of now, I gave 4 stars but once I wear them to work awhile I'll happily come back and give 5.

These are my favorite and only Hokas I will wear, as they are not as high as the others. Hokas are the only shoes I can run in that don't give me shin splints. The issue with these is that I have to get a new pair every 2-3 months, and that's is with me running 20-25 miles a week. The soles wear out way too quickly. They are too expensive for how often I have to purchase them. They need to reduce the price or make the soles much more sustainable on the next model. I have gone through almost every color and am waiting for a new model to hopefully have that needed change.

I wanted to love these shoes so much. I ordered a wide size hoping that would create a bigger toe box but I was wrong. The wide option is about as wide as the Bondi normal width (which is very tight on wide feet). I do love how light weight this shoe is and how responsive it is on runs though.

I ordered these as a regular width shoe but felt the toe box was more narrow than my other pair of Hokas. I returned the first pair and re-ordered in the wide width. They fit perfectly.

Loved the shoe -- very light in weight. I just don't like the big white Hoka on the shoe.

I absolutely love Mach 5's. The triathlon version I bought early summer served me well for about 500 miles. This recent pair, however, has caused a blister on my ankle from the tongue of the shoe after a few short runs and a long run (18 miles), which has never happened before from any of my Hokas. This wouldn't stop me from purchasing them again, though! They otherwise just work for me.

I bought these as a healthcare worker in a wide width. Shoes are great and comfortable just a smidge too tight across the foot.

I read some reviews and thought this would be the perfect shoe for me, but sadly it isn't. My foot is going numb when I run and it's causing me other leg pain too. It's a trial and error process, but I'm excited to see if another type does better.

I initially bought clifton 9s for my daily training and for some reason there was a discomfort in my right foot. It felt like something was bulging in the in the shoe that was hitting my foot, strange. I thought may be the shoe needed a break in and ran on it a few times, even did an 8 mile run, but that sensation never went away. So after almost 2 months asked hoka for an exchange and got the Mach 5, and that was a best decision. Most comfortable light running shoe that has been a delight to run near the hudson river. I recommend Mach 5s for everybody who is a pro runner or a beginner, it is very versatile. Regarding the clifton I am not sure if it was a quality of that particular pair or my foot - but definitely going to get another mach 5 in another coloway.

I like everything about the shoes with the exception of the inside of the tongue of the shoe which feels cheap, like an extremely thin piece of rubber! That will not hold up long at all.
I'd also recommend:

I'm 71 years old and have had hundreds of shoes. These are the best ever. Able to wear right out of the box. I volunteer at a a local hospital and spend hours on my feet. Normally the minute I get home, it's shoes off. Not with these. I kept them on until bedtime and surprised myself that I wasn't shoeless. This was my first pair of Hoka but not my last.

This is my 3rd pair of HOKA's. The first 2 being Mach 4's. I absolutely LOVE them-the 4's. This is all that I wear after going to my podiatrist, his suggestion for my foot problems. Well, new models came out and since the 4's were not available I had to purchase the 5's. Not the same! My feet now hurt when I take them off, they are not helping the issues that I have. Not as nice as the 4's. I'll have to try another style I guess. I also use an insert from the Dr.

Size may be half size up, I ordered what I usually get and it was a bit bigger than usual. So I would recommend maybe half size down

I'm finishing up my second pair of Mach 4s and just bought the new Mach 5. My first run was like gliding on air. There is a little bit more cushion in there was with the Mach 4 and it seems somehow lighter. Maybe it has to do with the thinner tongue. I can't imagine that it's going to change until the shoe gets a lot older - super thrilled with my purchase. I run 2 to 4 miles every other day and enjoy a very cushiony shoe because I run exclusively on hard surfaces.
