This is my first time buying giant clunky space sneakers, but I did so at the recommendation of a friend who also suffers from plantar fasciitis. I bought the black on black, which I found to be the least ugly. After wearing them for a few days, I must say - I am converted. They provide so much more support, cushion, and bounce than I've ever felt in a sneaker. They're relatively light (considering how bulky they are), and the mesh material will be helpful as my feet run hot, esp. in summer. They take some getting used to, but they're making walking (and dancing) so much more endurable. I'll deal with the goofy appearance, as the function certainly eclipses the fashion. Absolutely recommended to anyone dealing with plantar fasciitis.

Although it is just like the picture shows, I don't like how the part that your heel slides into the shoe is nearly a separate part of the shoe. I have another pair of Hokas made similar to this, but that feature is all a part of the shoe itself. They seem to be comfortable, but I don't know how well that part will hold up.

This was my favorite model and I was really looking forward to my third pair. Unfortunately my usual size 11 felt too short all of a sudden, so I am returning the pair because the model seems to have been discontinued. 11.5 is not available and my favorite color - bluish grey - is no longer offered. That's a pity because it was the only model that didn't feel too warm in the summer heat. I am looking for a replacement.

I've had the product for close to a month now, and I like the design. It's definitely not something I would 100% recommend for intense hiking, but it's still a nice shoe. The support is comfortable; however, I don't know if I just walk weird, but I've noticed the base pad inside the shoe digs into my inner foot a little; otherwise, it's a comfortable fit. The middle grip section is made of small foam structures that collapsed within a week of me owning them and serve no apparent purpose. I'm not a major hiker and have no professional experience in this, but it seems strange for part of the shoe to just stop working, especially so soon. The rest of the grip is sturdy and holds well on loose gravel, rocks, and such. I spend time hiking through some of Arizona's mountains, and it's given me little to no trouble. Recommended for off-road walks and medium intensity hikes, but you're not climbing Mount Everest.

These seem like they will be a well built shoe that definitely leans to the hiker side over the trail runner side. They are not true to size though. Order half size up. I think they are discontinued so it doesn't really matter.

I do really like them and have hiked over 350 miles in these shoes. They are comfy, stable and grippy. The Vibram outsole grips very well but for some reason, the middle part of the outsole is a foamy materiel and not Vibram, and that foam part wears out very quickly.

This is my first pair of Hoka shoes. I tend to gravitate to trail oriented shoes and these were on sale. I ordered size 11 (this is what I wear in most athletic shoes), it was to short. I replaced them with an 11.5 and it was good. The shoe is very comfortable but I find it feels a little unstable. I am sometimes worried that my ankle could roll. I generally don't have any issues with ankle support. Because they are so comfortable I might try a street pair of Hokas to see if the stability is better. Overall, I'm not sure Hokas are worth the trendy surcharge. Lastly, they are not good looking. FYI, I normally wear ASICS and will probably stick to them.
I'd also recommend:

I have owned 6 pairs of hokas and always wore 9 1/2… I had to return and get half size smaller. I feel like hoka quality is going the wrong way. Insoles are cheap and useless. Expensive shoe

This Hoka fits different than the Bondi 8, which was more narrow. The Anacapa fit my foot better but the arch support wasn't sufficient. The sole is soft which may be good for running but perhaps less durable on trails. I went with a Salomon instead that fit better and had a more durable build quality.
I'd also recommend:
Merrill, Salomon
