Breaking in is hard to do. The Florsheim shoe is a well made heavy shoe made to last a long time. As a result, the buyer should be prepared to "break in" this shoe. This will mean a period of wear time that is uncomfortable at best. The pain is worth it though because this shoe is copied by many for the look but not the longevity which is forever!

Dad was always smarter than me! My Dad wore nothing but Florsheim shoes his entire life. He swore by their unequaled comfort and durability. I have tried too many cheaper and lesser quality shoes and have always been disappointed. My wife knew the style and quality that I was looking for and found the Kenmoor-Long Wings on Zappos. I heeded my Dad's advice, albeit 20 years late and bought the long wings (in all 4 styles). I find the shoes to be of superb quality and craftsmanship. They fit excellent and yes they are stiff. I know the break-in will be tough as it was years ago with high quality double leather soled shoes. I am sure it will be worth the effort. Zappos made the ordering and shipping effortless and fast. They even overnighted my shoes when I purchased 3 day shipping.

Purchased this as a potential wedding shoe. I bought it in my normal size (6.5) but this shoe actually felt half a size larger. I couldn't even see my toes through the peep toe and my heel kept sliding out. Will order a 1/2 size smaller to see if it's better. The toe area feels a little narrow. Otherwise a gorgeous shoe! All the bling you can ask for.

Classic Style - Worth the Price!!! I just purchased my second pair of these shoes (I have had the black ones for a year which I finally broke in and LOVE, and I just bought a pair of the Cognac (brown) ones). Every time I wear them I always get compliments! I had a pair of burgundy one's which I finally wore out (total state of disrepair) which prompted me to buy the brown ones. Before discarding them I found the original receipt in the bottom of the box dated 12/11/1994. I wore those shoes for 14 years before they finally said "enough". So, if you're hesitant to buy this shoe because of the price, think about the thousands of dollars you would spend on shoes over the course of 14 years compared with a one time $225 purchase that will last 14 years! Excellent shoe that I would recommend to anyone!!

Florsheim Imperial --> Kenmore - I have lost count of how many pairs I've owned since I began wearing them in the late '60's...at least 6 over that time. They take a little breaking in, as you would expect of any full leather shoe but with some care -- shoe trees, regular polishing, don't wear the same pair every day, etc., they will resole easily and last for years. Not a light weight shoe but they will fit like an expensive custom made glove. Highly recommended.

Zappos: Florsheim purchase - 1. Perfect fit, I wear narrow, b width and this is hard to find in any store. 2. Quality of shoe is excellent. 3. Very comfortable, gives me great support. I have high arches. 4. Purchasing experience has left me realizing I will probably never buy another shoe at a store. Ordered it one day, received it the next. While I hope never to have to test it, the return process if it did not fit etc... seems just as easy as driving back to a store if purchased in a store...

If you have a true EEE foot, order a half size bigger. I ordered a pair of black and a pair of burgundy 9.5EEE. The 9.5EEE was too narrow. The 10.5EEE was too big. Zappos let me return them both and shipped me two pair of 10EEEs. They fit well and I kept them. Kudos to Zappos for customer service!

Shoe Purchase - Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. Not only was I able to find exactly the shoes for which I had been looking, I felt the price was very fair. I had never purchased from Zappos and was a little hesitant to do so, but my experience with this purchase exceeded expectations, as the well worn cliché goes. The first pair I ordered was too large, but the return policy and shipping procedures made the exchange very easy. As a result of this very positive experience, combined with being able to find the quality and value I was seeking, it is highly probable that my next pair of shoes will be the result of another purchase from Zappos.

Nice traditional shoe - If you want a handsome thick sole wingtip traditional look, here it is. This shoe is for the professional, i.e. sales, law, accounting etc.

Give yourself a jolt of confidence! These shoes are awesomely built! I bought a tan and black version to rotate during the week. I have a tendency to wear the outer sides of my heels fast and these shoes slow that process down a little due to a combination leather/rubber heal. The leather heel makes you sound as if you have concrete blocks attached to your feet when you walk, though! I bought the pebbled finish for a different look. I thought I would never see the day I paid this much for a pair of shoes, but I have found out you get what you pay for. When I sit next to someone and look at their shoes, everyone's shoes pale in comparison to mine for build quality and appearance. This is a classic style that will never go out or get old.

Excellent shoe! I'd been looking locally for a good-looking pair of traditional wingtip dress shoes for quite some time with little success. Needless to say, I was elated when I found just what I was looking for featured on the Zappos website. This shoe has exceptional styling, craftsmanship and comfort. I cannot say enough positive things about this shoe...thank you, Zappos!

My Dad's style shoes - I always purchased the modern style type of this shoe from the department store, but when I learned this type of shoe could be purchased online from Zappos, I ran to the computer to purchase. I feel as strong and confident as my Dad when he walked tall and strong in these. I'll definitely purchase again knowing I'm getting quality. Thanks!

KENMOOR - I have the Bostonian alternative and found it to be significantly less well-made than this shoe...very good quality shoe...I found it comfortable right out of the box...yes, it is stiff at first but has excellent arch support...worth the hundred bucks over the Bostonian.

Florsheims Kenmoor -Long Wing shoe review - I was looking for a "traditional" pair of wingtip shoes and was not having much success in the stores. The quality I found was poor. My previous choice of this type of shoe, from a major shoe store chain, has reduced the quality of the shoe recently and I was not satisfied with the appearance or construction. In searching for an alternative, I tried Zappos because I had favorable experiences in the past with purchases from them. From the extensive variety of shoes provided, I located the Florsheims “Kenmoor” wingtip shoe. It seemed to be exactly what I was looking for: Excellent quality; solid construction and a high quality appearance. Previous reviewers of this shoe have indicated a somewhat difficult break-in period for this shoe since it is quite stiff coming out of the box. While it is true that the shoes were "stiff" at first, I found that they broke in to a comfortable wear by the 3rd day and now feel very comfortable and natural. My normal shoe size has been 11 wide. Since some reviewer's of this shoe have indicated that the shoe seemed smaller than normal I took the chance and ordered an 11-1/2 wide. I am glad I did because this shoe fits very well. So, if your regular shoe size is comfortable, perhaps you may want to consider a half size larger for this one. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the shoes. They fit very well, look great, hold a very nice shine and are good, solid and an excellent pair of dressy wingtips. I am glad I bought them and recommend them highly. As to my ratings I give them a "4 star" rating on comfort only because they are a bit stiff out of the box and require a very reasonable break in period. Some buyer's may not like this because a lot of shoes are made today with materials that require no real break in. As a result, some people may not like the idea that they have to break in a shoe before it is really comfortable. The trade off however is that once you wear them for a while I have noticed that shoes that require no break in tend to get shabby looking very quickly. You don't get this with these Florsheim shoes. So, I gave it a 4 star rating to indicate that some break in is needed. As to Zappos, this is about the third order I have placed with them. Everything about the process was easy and pleasant. They process the orders extremely fast and efficiently and tracking and processing is great. I am very pleased with purchasing from them and would do so again without hesitation.

Classic Shoe - This is a classic; fit might be a tad bit longer than in other models. Break in time is longer than normal but this is a product that will last and they are always in style. I would recommend this shoe to anyone. Zappos service is always top notch.

Top Notch Shoe - This is a classy shoe with very solid construction. It definitely needs break-in, but after that it will become one of your favorites and will always bring compliments.

The one year review - After wearing these shoes for a year I felt compelled to write a second review. Florsheim's Kenmoor - Long Wing is made with a rear level of craftsmanship. Once broken in (it took me a dozen wearings) the shoe offers all day walking comfort that exceeds the comfort of my New Balance MR1223. PS. I'm a bit duck footed and these shoes have a generous toe box.

Beautiful classic - Needs a little breaking in but good shoes usually do. Great looking, stylish enough for any place, any event.

I have worn this style for years. They are stiff at first and take a while to break in, but after that are very comfortable and really last. The leather soles tend to be slick and I prefer to have a rubber sole cover added at the shoe shop because I am often in buildings with slick marble or tile floors.

They fit, look, and feel great. No need to take chances, just buy your next pair here, I certainly will. Thank you for the great service

Solid classic black dress shoe for men - This shoe seems very durable and well made, although I've only been wearing it for three weeks. It is a bit heavier than most dress shoes I've purchased. It has a very solid feel, and I like the leather sole. They are very comfortable after their break-in period, which other reviewers have noted. My only complaint is that the inner heel lining seems to be peeling back a bit. Not sure if that's a flaw, but the use of a cedar shoe tree seems to help it a little. You can definitely hear these shoes coming, though -- not a good shoe for muggers or thieves.

It’s a very substantial shoe of high quality construction, though not entirely comfortable until after an initial break in period. I've worn out numerous pairs of this classic shoe, but it takes a long time to do so.

High Quality Wingtip - Received these shoes the a few days ago and could not be happier. I have searched hard for a pair of quality brown wingtips with little success. I wear a 7.5, so it is hard to find the correct size in a retail store. Zappos is fantastic for this reason; they almost always have the size I need. The Kenmore felt about a half size too big, thus requiring a size 7; however Zappos made the exchange very easy once again. The shoes themselves are of a high quality - nice stitching, good leather and solid soles. These shoes need significant “break-in time”, because they are very stiff at first; however that is the mark of a good shoe.

The 5 star shoe of choice - I had been looking for this type of shoe for several months with no luck at the retail stores, one evening our daughter Tammy had come to visit us while I was surfing the Florsheim web page looking for a well constructed wing tip shoe with no luck, Tammy told me to try the Zappo.com web site on which she immediately located the ideal shoe so I purchased a pair in black, I am more than pleased with the ease of the purchase and quality of the shoes. I guess I can now be considered a happy camper with an excellent pair of Florsheims Kenmoor-Long Wing shoes. I do recommend Florsheim to again install the formed heel pad in the shoes.
