I'd be sold for life if they made these in a wide! I tried both a 7.5 and 8, the 7.5 were perfect length and volume, but I needed the width of the size 8. A little worried about getting blisters bc the 8 are all around roomier! I tried a 7.5 WIDE in one of the other topo models and it fits like a dream. I have a pizza shaped foot and am EE width

I love the toe room in these but they run half size too small. I normally wear a 7.5 but my whole midfoot was being squeezed so i returned them and got an 8. MUCH better!

I have two pairs of Topo running shoes and ordered the same size in the boot - this was a mistake. Maybe because of the waterproof lining, the boots feel much tighter than the same-size sneakers. The boot is tight across the ball of the foot, across the top of the foot and less roomy in the toe area. Loose laces don't help. Unfortunately, these were not exchangeable. Otherwise satisfactory but I will probably try a different brand of wide toe-box hiking boot.

Took these for 400+ miles on the PCT - they're still going strong. Breathable, comfortable, no blister issues, waterproof as described, fun color. I only had one minor issue:
The ankle grommets. I got skinny feet/ankles, and couldn't really get a proper lace on these without getting creative. I made it work, but if the grommets were placed a bit lower on the shoe, this wouldn't be an issue.
Overall, this is a fantastic shoe and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

I'm married to Altras in spite of their sometimes iffy quality. These Topo boots are beautiful. The base is very stable, the tread is amazing. I really liked the vibram outsole. That was the perfect combination of aggressive tread without being able to feel every step digging into your foot. I felt like the part of the sole on the outside of my foot but before the heel was too built up. It tended to push me into protonation. Very similar to the way Keen soles/based are designed. Inserting my own orthotics did not correct the issue enough. The toe is sprung a bit too much for my liking as I found my big toe being pulled up and that was uncomfortable to me but it does help you walk. I found that the toe box curved inward a little too much so that my big toe rubbed on the inside. The heel counter needs to be a little more stable. I think the padding was too prominent around the ankle and I did not test this out but it may rub over time? The toe box wasn't bad. But my pinky toe was touching the inside of the shoe. The sole did not suffer from torsion when I tried to bend it by grabbing the toe and twisting. So it's built very well. The materials seemed comfortable and well constructed and well-sewn. The hooks for the laces allow you to tie the boot faster. That was really nice. I think if you like a keen base you will like this boot. People who are used to Altra Torin will probably struggle like I did, I had to return but I can see where this would work for other people. I have duck feet and need lots of support for overprotonation.
I'd also recommend:

Wore these for a week long hiking trip and found them mostly good. Wish they came in extra wide. A bit hot due to waterproofing but overall pleased with these. Worked well for rocky terrain and even scree.

I adore how Topos fit on my runner's feet (that have widened into a more natural shape after years of running), and really wanted to like these -- they fit well. However, I was looking for a lightweight hiker that would be cool for summer use, and these feel thick and too warm for summer. The raspberry color is so much fun, too! -- but sadly I gotta send them back.

I will only wear true foot shaped shoes with no or low drop to keep my feet healthy as I age, and there are so few brands out there. I found Topo's hikers more substantial than the competitors. I am anxious to try lower-cut running/walking styles as well. I appreciate that they have some women's shoes in other nice basic colors than silly magentas and pastels as well! I wouldn't mind an even more rigid sole supportive model with the same foot shape for more rocky challenging hikes.

Love these boots. My only complaint is that I need to put in a custom orthotic and when I do the boot is tight due to Topos insert being so thin. I already bought a half size up and cannot go any bigger. Hoping they stretch out a bit. Otherwise great boot!

Purchased for a trip to Alaska and preemptively for the upcoming winter and snow/ice hiking where I live in the lower 48. I love the fit of these boots. Comfortable right out of the box as expected. I also wanted the mid-shank for stability and protection you don't get from many of the low top trail runners. I've used them on about 100 miles of trail so far in various conditions and they performed great! Ankle support, WP, rock protection, fit well with the Kathoola micro spikes, and I love the lace lock located at the midline. Two things that really drive these down to 4 stars: 1) the laces are so slick they eventually loosen. Loosen from the lace lock, come untied, or both. I have to retie these laces multiple times to fix the lace lock, especially on particularly roller-coaster like terrain. The dynamic foot movement just works against these slippery laces. 2) they get a lot of debris in the tongue folds. Wear gaiters you say, but honestly these are the only mid-top hiking shoe/boot I have ever had to wear gaiters with that aren't specifically needed for ice/mud. I will start wearing the gaiters and I do love that the front anchor is higher up on this boot. More the top of the foot rather than down by the toe.
(Rant not related to the rating of this shoe But would it kill Topo to just make the Velcro gaiter traps/attachments? The prong attachment points are a nightmare IMHO.)

These boots run a whole size short! Unfortunately I didn't figure it out until it was too late to exchange them. I bought the 1/2 size bigger that I normally buy, but they are still too short. Don't make the mistake that I made - expensive one

I have these boots and two pair of the Traverse (low top trail shoe). Overall, they fit just right, the neutral drop is fantastic & important for aging hikers, along with the wide toe box. Unfortunately, all three pair allow significant amounts of sand and trail dirt inside, which for long hikes really sucks. I have to stop periodically to empty them. Sure wish Topo designers could figure out a fix.

My Dr wanted me to wear high tops all the time so I got these. They are so stiff though I have nowhat's the wordproception? Awareness of my foot. I will use them for hiking I spose but not much else.

I absolutely love Topo running shoes so I thought I would try the hiking boots. I first wore them on some easy walks and light hikes and loved the cushioning, lightweight feel, and overall comfort. But when I took them out on some trails with hills, my feet were sliding all around inside the boots. I tried different sock combinations and lacing techniques, but unfortunately I could not stop my feet from sliding inside these boots. It was especially disappointing on steep downhill descents. My feet slid way forward inside the boots as I descended the hills. I tried tightening the boots as much as I could to no avail. I honestly think the lace lock is in the wrong place. It should be located at the next loop up the boot (near the ankle) to secure the foot better (as is the case with other hiking boots I own.) I am glad Topo has such an amazing 30 day return policy. Sadly I will be returning these boots.

These boots have all the features I love about my Topo trailrunners, and they are overall well-constructed. However, the waterproof bootie inside is HOT and doesn't breathe. It also makes the boots run half a size smaller, so I had I size up, but now my feet slide forward in my boots on downhills and I have to constantly adjust. I missed the return window, so I'll try using these this winter, but they can't be my hiking boots as I had intended. I would buy these forever if they used Goretex instead!

I wanted to like these boots. They are well made, I like the lacing, and they were comfortable. However, after wearing them around the house for several days, I had a bad pain on the inside left instep. As soon as I took the boots off, my left foot felt 100% better. I had ordered my usual size 6.5 but they were way too tight. I tried size 7.0 (still too snug) and settled on size 7.5. But I couldn't overcome the left foot pain. Unhappily, I returned the boots. They may work for someone else.

Super comfortable, not waterproof, not durable. The company only stands behind their products up to 1 year.
I always buy multiples of shoes that are comfy. I bought 2 pair at the same time, 1 for now and 1 for the future. Pair 1 is trashed/long worn out, leaking, etc.... Pair 2 leaked very quickly , not waterproof and the company would not stand behind the failure after just a few weeks using because I was outside of the 1 year. Do not buy 2+ pairs and expect them to honor the 1 year warranty EVEN IF UNUSED. I wish they would make boots like this that last more than a season and are truly waterproof.

Love these hiking shoes. Shoe laces are pathetic. Had to retie 5 times in one hike. Tried several kinds of knots that are usually good but to no avail with these laces.

Too room is good
Midfoot is too tight.
Toe jam is real. It took 6 months to grow my blackened toenails after hiking to havasu falls and nearly a year later im still fighting plantar faciitis because of those shoes. I returned them.
I have a pair of the originals that i wore on their maiden voyage to the summit of mt st helens and i was sold on them. Sadly they are too broken down now after several hundred miles
Since then any of the new versions have only degressed in comfort.

I bought a pair of these hiking boots several years ago and they were great - no wet feet. I needed to replace them and bought a new pair this year and they are not water proof. I'm so disappointed.

The fit of Topo is perfect for me and they are incredibly comfortable. They fit the heel of my normal sized foot but have plenty of room in the toe box. I love that these are low drop instead of zero drop. They really are a great shoe, except for the durability (especially for the price). The only reason I would not recommend them to someone is the lack of durability.

The fit of these is amazing, so much room in the toes but secure in the rest of the foot, which is exactly what I needed, and the waterproofing is perfect! The sole is thick and sturdy and I feel like they would be excellent in rocky terrain. Unfortunately, I didn't get to test that out.
There's this weird, stiff seam where the tongue connects that folds into the mid-foot area and digs directly into the bone there, and it was so painful I had to return them. (Maybe I just have a very high instep, because it doesn't seem to bother anyone else in the reviews?) I tried both a 7.5 and an 8, and both sizes hurt badly, no matter how loosely or snugly I tied them. Hopefully this is an issue that can be fixed in the future, because I would love to be able to wear these boots comfortably someday!

I love this fit! The wide toe box and comfortable cushion/fabric on the inside are dreamy! I thought they were going to be my answer for winter and summer hiking... however, the aggressive toe spring makes it so when you step forward on an include the front 1/3 of the foot slips out on gravel or snow. For the perfect shoe that this is the toe spring and laces that won't stay tied more than 20 minutes ruined them for me. So close!
