I hate giving it two stars, b/c it fits true to size and is very comfortable. Was purchased right before Christmas, as a gift. After wearing it just once, I was getting into bed and it ripped at the elbow while I was adjusting the covers. My wife said she could probably sew it up, but I was very upset that I got just one use. It was probably a freak occurrence, as my wife got a pair as well and they are still holding up.

These were so soft and cozy... until I washed them (cold, delicate cycle) and dried them. They pilled and the material changed texture and became rougher, if you can believe it. These are no longer the dream cozy pajamas I crave to put on at night. I'm so disappointed. They are just OK now. But not at all as fabulous before they saw a washing machine. And- I have to mention the tag in the shirt. It's on the bottom left side seam and it's really unbearable how itchy it is. I even operated on my shirt and took the tag off extra carefully to not damage the shirt and just a tiny bit of the tag is left and it STILL is so annoying that I wake up in the middle of the night and have to toss the shirt aside. Why they didn't put the tag on the neck of the shirt or use softer material is beyond me. Even after the dryer the tag didn't soften up. It's so annoying in fact that I hesitate wearing it to bed as I don't want to have to change how I sleep or be woken up due to it. It's really THAT itchy and abrasive. I just find it so odd that LL Bean would make pajamas that you really can't wash and with a tag that's insanely rough and strangely placed to irritate you in the middle of the night. I don't care if it's made in China. But I'd happily pay $10 more for better quality. Overall disappointing.

If your a giant, it will fit you. I like my pajamas to be loose, but they are way too loose. Plus the length is way out of proportion. I'm 5'8" and it's at least a foot longer

First, the size is off. The top fits okay but the legs are huge. Not the waist, but the legs. They must have been made for women who have giant tree trunks for legs.
The other issue is lint. I washed them, and then dried. My washer was full of clumps of lint, and my dryer lint trap was full. Balls and clumps of lint everywhere. I shook them out, and then made the mistake of wearing them to bed. My sheets and pillowcases are covered in lint from these things. They're in the washer again, and the linen will have to be washed next. My advice - do NOT get these as a gift for someone you care about.

This was my first purchase of flannel pajamas from lll bean. Unfortunately the flannel shed so much, even after 3 washes that I decided to return them . I hope the type of flannel used can be changed for future styles.

After washing and drying these PJ's twice they continued to shed on my vacation where I did not have access to a washer and dryer. I had dark fuzz all over everything including my skin. Otherwise, the fit and warmth was good.

Pockets on the side produce lumpy seams, which are miserable for side sleepers as they produce pressure points. My suggestion would be to remove them or use a silky material that minimizes lumps, and/or attach the pockets in a way that they could be easily snipped out should one wish to remove them. Also need a little more room under the armpits for a looser fit. Please bring back the drawstring only (no lumpy elastic) for those who prefer a looser and less restrictive fit. I used to buy your men's flannel for this reason as a work around then you added elastic to theirs as well. Would you consider a gender neutral looser fitting flannel pajama set? I identify as female but could see where a little more material in the armpits and a very adjustable waist would be more welcoming to all.

The product faded quickly with repeated washes in two months using sensitive skin, fragrance free Arm & Hammer liquid laundry detergent.

I was very disappointed with how quickly the fabric pilled. Have not had issues with LLBean flannel in the past.

The material is heavier and stiffer than expected but if you are looking for something very warm this might work. One problem with the material is that it is not soft. I've used triple Downy in a cold, gentle wash cycle and a short, medium heat dryer. I hang them to dry the rest of the way. The material is almost rough and after two washings it is beginning to pill. Definitely not worth the high price.

These pajamas have very small buttons which are hard to button and come undone every night while I sleep. Because I am sick of waking up in the morning with my chest hanging out I don't wear them and they are a waste of money. And if you have older hands it is hard to get everything rebuttoned. They run big, especially the pants. Otherwise the material is soft after washing. I did not have a problem with lint or the material although I haven't worn them that much. The flannel tops sold alone and worn with sweatpants works way better and hss bigger buttons that stay put

Sadly this flannel fabric is why my review rating is so low. The labels on the neck are scratchy. I'm surprised this great company hasn't gone to no labels by now. The fabric is extremely scratchy on my skin.
I do have sensitive skin but the uncomfortability of this fabric is so much that I cannot wear it at all. I've tried washing the pj's a couple times, exactly as the instructions list. The fabric is no softer & still highly irritating to the skin.
The reason I'm not giving it 1 star is because it appears well made & looks great. The pants even have pockets, I was so excited. I'm so disappointed. I don't know if I can return the pj's since I washed them after trying to wear. I'm on a fixed income so this is a decent financial hit for me.
The size matches. I'm 5'3" & like my pj's baggy/loose. They were a great fit.
This is the only time I've ever given 1 of LL Bean's products a low rating. Sad & extremely disappointed.

Initially, upon arrival, I was very happy with the color and softness of the flannel pajamas and looked forward to enjoying their anticipated warmth - then, before wearing them I laundered them. Disaster, the amount of lint actually clogged my drain.
After repeated washings, the amount of lint continues (although not as much) and has caused the garment to shrink.
Definitly not the usual quality of LLB merchandise - I would not reorder nor would I recommend them

I have to say I do really like the pjs and bought a size medium. But when I washed (normal cycle) and wore them for the first time, the top seemed really small and the bottoms were huge! I wear a 36AA bra and my pants are a size 8. Maybe I received a lemon set - top small and bottoms large and tagged wrong?

Someone at the factory miss ordered to buttons for the top. They are too small and easily slip out of the holes. Buttons come undone during sleep and other times during wear. I have to safety pin the top so I don't flash anybody. I was disappointed as they are super soft, washed well and fit well. Please fix this LLbean!

These pj's became pilly, colors appeared to run, and looked dirty. Not great LLBean quality item.

I have worn and loved L.L. Bean products for many years, and the two pairs of these PJs I bought are the first items with which I have not been completely satisfied. That said, I would NEVER buy another pair of these PJs (as much as I like them otherwise) because the amount of lint and "debris" that comes from the flannel is almost unimaginable! I have washed them three times and still cannot wear them without "shedding" everywhere I walk. Something is dreadfully wrong with this fabric!

Because I love my LL Bean flannel PJs and flannel nightshirt bought ten years ago, my husband surprised me with 2 more pairs of PJs and another nightshirt this past holiday...he used the size Medium I had on my older pair.
I am so disappointed. Oh, Bean, what have you done...
1) I prewashed one set only to notice out of the washer that they shrunk. I aired dried them and held the top against the other new set to see that the top was now two inches narrower and about half an inch shorter. The top was way too tight in the shoulders. The pants are just huge. I take a 30.5 inch inseam and the Medium pant were 5 inches too long as well as very wide in the legs, yet the thin elastic waistband was uncomfortable.
2) The quality of the flannel is not what LL Bean use to be known for...it is cheap. The shedding is seriously bad and, as I found with the nightshirt, continues after multiple washings. And when I compare the fabric of the new set to my older set, the older set is a substantial flannel...when I hold the new set up to a light, you can see the light through it...and I have worn the new night shirt, made of the same inferior material, and it itches a bit.
I appreciate that LLBean needs to make a profit, but to use such inferior quality flannel that shrinks and sheds and is thinner and still charges a high price, well, it is not a way for repeat business. I will be returning both Mediums, even the prewashed one...

I ordered my usual size Medium and a Small. The pants on the Medium were really wide in the hips and out of proporation to the top. The small top was too tight. Both of the bottoms were really short and barely covered my ankles. The ladies offerings are lacking in tall sizes compared to the mens. Two stars for the nice fabric and pockets.

It had been a long time since I had a pair of Bean flannel pajamas. And I loved them so much that I decided to order a pair in the Black Watch Plaid. The P.J.s arrived in good order. They fit well and were very soft. I washed them with mild laundry detergent, following the instructions on the label. When I took the pajamas out of the dryer, there was so much lint/flannel fuzz from the pajamas in the dryer's lint basket that I was kind of taken aback. After washing, they don't feel quite the same as when I unboxed them. And now, I almost don't want to wear them because the flannel fuzz is pilling all over everything...the furniture, the floor.... ugh! Such a disappointment. My other Bean flannel pajamas did not do this. I am glad I purchased them with a holiday discount because they are most definitely not worth their full price, and probably not worth what I paid for them considering that I am reluctant to wear them. :-(

I've had these a year & worn them 6 months of that year. I never could button the top because the shirt is cut for a man - not a full-busted woman.
However, the bottoms were a nice fit (since I have a flat bottom anyway) - not tight in the least. Tonight I bent over to hang a Christmas ornament on my tree and RRRRRIP!!! A HORIZONTAL tear across the bottom! It's like the fabric was thin and cheap and just gave way. For all the money I spent on these and the reputation of LL Bean, I expected MUCH better and longer wear. So disappointed and unhappy.

The buttons are too small for the thickness of the fabric. Fit is great, fabric is cozy soft, but if you move around in your sleep you wake up with ALL the top buttons COMPLETELY UNDONE! I'd rather not have to check myself before emerging from bed. Would be fine if buttons were a bit larger to withstand the weight and tension of flannel.

Bottom was way too long, while top was tight across the shoulders. Usually Medium is just right for me. The color was not as I expected. I'd wanted a bright Royal Stewart plaid of primary colors, but this plaid is very muted and dark. I'm returning this item.
