Very disappointed with the Large that was received. It is tight and hard to put on when wearing a flannel shirt. Would have exchanged it for an Extra Large but none available.

This was my first down jacket from LL Bean. It was tight (which was expected based on the reviews) but I didn't see all the comments about the feathers shedding when in use. Although overall, I like the jacket, it's warm and looks good but it's messy to use and I have doubts about it long term.

I read the reviews & knew the complaints but couldn't pass up the sale. My skinny arms do fit but there is no extra room and it is snug in the armpits. It looks great and I love the hood but couldn't recommend it for most people dune to the arm issue. I also don't care for the fleece lining. I will enjoy it with a lightweight slick shirt.

It's only 3 stars because it is unusually delicate - I hung up this coat in the gym locker and a thread along one arm got pulled and ripped out. I appreciate the warmth and the light weight, just a bit too delicate!

I'm not pleased with this item. I purchased many things over the years from L.L. Bean. I have never had an issue but this particular down jacket I'm not happy with. I purchased a down jacket a few years ago which I really like, but I accidentally tore a small hole in it. This particular down jacket does not have a zipper front pocket. It also does not slip on easy because of the lining on the inside, if I am wearing a heavy sweater, it's difficult for me to actually put the jacket on my other down jacket I can slide in to it with no or very little effort.

Fine Jacket, but small in shoulders for a 5' 8", hundred and fifty pound senior.

it is very difficult to get your arms in the sleeves due to the fleece clinging to whatever you're wearing.

I should have returned this immediately. Half of the interior is fleece lined causing whatever garment you're wearing, shirt or sweater, to snag and grab onto the fleece and make it a struggle to put on. It pulls the fleece lined interior outside the ends of the coat sleeve. Also, there are no inside pockets nor an exterior breast pocket. It's warm enough but LLBean has been making down coats for decades and this was a totally rookie mistake. Shop around.

Would have preferred a silky lining .. my husband always has trouble getting the jacket on and off because of the lightning. Especially if he has a sweater underneath.

It is a struggle to get this jacket on and off over a sweater. The sleeves bunch up because the fleece extends too far into the arms of the jacket.

I received this jacket for a Christmas gift. I was wanting a down filled jacket with an attached, insulated hood; I thought this was it. I wear a large in everything from parkas to button-down shirts, so a large should fit fine, I thought.
The sleeves are a little snug and they grip my shirt sleeves, pulling the jacket liner down into the jacket sleeve. It takes a little adjusting but, I can make it work. The most annoying thing about the jacket is the fleece lining that grabs my back and makes it difficult to get settled into the jacket. This also, with a bit of adjusting, works.
The jacket is very warm, looks great and is fairly comfortable. With the recent cold spell it is a welcome addition.

Expected better quality as the outer material quality is not as good as it stated. It should water repellent but it's not and the feathers coming out too much.

Warm Jacket, fits great once you get it on. Problem is the upper lining on the inside, it sticks to your shirt when you're putting the jacket on, making it frustrating.

Jacket is really too tight in the shoulder and chest areas. Cannot wear it with a mid weight sweater underneath.

I already had bought a size larger so that I wouldn't have to send it back so I had to go up two sizes from my original size. The other complaint is the fleece inside liner needs to be tacked down very poorly made for the price of the jacket .

Our current plan is to return this medium jacket and obtain a large. My husband occasionally wears a sweater and sometimes a down vest, the jacket is too tight when he does so. The sleeve was so tight that it pushed the lining out the wrist opening. We were also surprised there was no ability to tighten the hood when the wind is blowing. This jacket is a replacement for a parka which due to health issues was too heavy for him to manage as was the two-way zipper.

Very warm lightweight jacket. Miss the zippered outside chest pocket (cell phone) and the LL Bean logo.

I purchased this a couple weeks ago. It was on sale and I really needed a midweight jacket. I love the style and the construction. I ordered a tall, xl. I am tall and have had issues with short sleeve length. The jacket fits well and the sleeves are long enough, but they are also very tight. It is difficult to move my arms freely in this jacket. Now, even in hindsight as I look at the photo, I can see that they are too narrow. As much as I like it otherwise, I have to return it. Too bad.

Nothing special here. Nice coat that is way over priced. The draw cord at the bottom of the coat is a nice feature. Save your money and buy a similar coat elsewhere for half the price. Adding the name LLBean to a garment doubles the price, but not the quality.

When wearing a heavy shirt, the lining bunches up at the end of the jacket sleeves while putting it on.

Very warm. The lining in sleeves comes out when I put it on so that I have to push lining of both sleeves back in. A little annoying but not a deal breaker

My son has always worn LL Bean coats but the quality has been noticeably different with the last few purchases. This one in particular SHEDS so bad. My son wears the coat to school he does nothing athletic in it and just existing it sheds. It's too bad because the fit and color and thickness are perfect. For reference he's 5 foot, 105 pounds and wears a Small.

This is my new winter commuting jacket, so far I've worn it in ~20 F with a shirt and merino medium layer under and been ok. With the right base layers I could see myself wearing this down to single digits but not further.
6'1" athlete upside down triangle shaped person and the XL fits great with room for a layer or 2.
Pros: Lightweight, warm for the price
Cons: no chest pocket, no inside pockets, no hood cinches (sp?), more packable than synthetic, but not the most packable down item I own.
"Meh": the fleece lining on the upper section of the inside of the jacket is more annoying than useful - you can't feel it on your skin, and it pulls on any material as you slide your arms in.
Unknown: durability
I would recommend this product, but would buy the 850 fill jacket next time for the pockets.
