I bought this parka for my son who attends university in windy Philly. He loves the fit, the feel, the warmth and the wind blocking!

Haven't had too much time to use this yet but it is incredibly warm. It does seem to run a little large - Probably could have gone with a smaller size if it existed. The heather grey color is very nice. As some other reviewers have noted the hand warmer pockets are too low to be usable, but otherwise great coat.

We just had an Arctic winter in St. Louis. I'm from Hawaii and was dreading to take Maddi our dog out this morning. It was 0 degrees wind chill - 15 degrees I had no problem. This parker is the best! Thank you LL Bean

It is well crafted, looks amazing, is wind proof, keeps you dry and keeps you absolutely warm, if not hot, in the coldest of weather.

I had gotten an LL Bean coat from my father when he passed 20 years ago. I've worn it every winter out feeding horses, goats and chickens and it has kept me very warm and comfy although it isn't water proof and anyone who lives in NW Oregon knows it rains ALOT.
I bought this new parka to wear for heading out when more dressed up and it is equally as warm if not better. I live in Central Oregon now where it's much dryer and also much colder. This parka has earned ***** 5* from me.
Thank You,
Mary

You can pay more.
In dangerous cold -70F this coat stands up to it. The Yukon in Winter- one must be prepared.
Take this coat, warm under layers.....and a Sattelite phone.

It's exceptionally warm, can be worn over a heavy sweater, it's snug around the head, neck, and wrists, and the red color is highly visible. The quality of construction is excellent.

Very warm and windproof. The perfect choice when it is too cold to get by with my Bean Warmup Jacket. As other reviewers have noted, the hand warmer pockets are set a little too low for us short folks, but I suspect if they were right for us, taller people would find them placed uncomfortably high. Plenty of other well placed pockets for holding hats, gloves, phones, etc.

Good quality piece with more than enough in and out pockets. It warms you quickly and keeps you like that when moving outdoors. It is heavier and bulkier than other LL Bean jackets when carrying it with the hands or under your arms but not excessive. The elastic in the wrists prevents ice or snow to run inside your arms. I can cover my nose by moving the zipper all the way up for snow storm conditions.

Well-made, quality parka. Solid comes to mind. Had my local furrier replace the faux fur on the ruff with a coyote-furred pelt, and it looks great. Bought the coat on sale too. For the price, features, and overall quality and build, you cannot beat this coat. Only wish I have were that the sleeve cuffs were made of knit vice fleece material, and the inside lining of the exterior hand warmer pockets was fleece on both sides (fleece touching both sides of one's hands).

I live in Northeast Ohio and my winter coat purchases are based solely on function, I need a warm coat! My last winter coat held up well and was very warm but was about 8 or 9 years old and was getting tattered before the zipper finally gave out. I've been thinking about buying this coat for a while and when it went on sale, I went for it. I've already worn it during some very cold weather and have been very happy about how warm it has kept me. I love all of the pockets, in particular the left chest pocket that you don't need to unzip the coat to get to, great idea! I almost always wear sunglasses when outside and love that feature. I like the drawstring feature to keep out wind, but agree it is difficult to adjust, but once you've done it you don't need to do it again I got the coat a little large in order to layer up underneath.

I'm a big guy, 6' 10" 300lbs and I love this jacket. It is very nice, the quality is great. The XL Tall fits me very well, I ordered the XXL Tall first but it was a little to big in the belly area, so I sent it back for the XL Tall. This jacket is very warm but not too big, fluffy or thick. I bought this coat because I'm don't care for the cold and plan to use it on cold days here down south and when I travel up north.

This is by far the best fitting and warmest jacket I've ever had. The jacket is full of accessible pockets on the inside and outside. I was a bit worried ordering a large, given I am 6'4, but the large fit perfectly and goes half way down my thighs. I highly recommend anyone who is in the market for a new warm coat, the Baxter State Parka has to be on the top of your list.
