These hiking boots are very high quality, well made boots but I am struggling with the fit/breaking them in. They hurt my ankles and the foot bed is hard, like cement. I have thought about returning them but not sure LL Bean would take them back. I keep hoping they will break in. IF they are comfortable when broken in, they seem like they'd be excellent boots that would last a long time

I liked the style and fit of the boot. Traction seemed like it would be great. But the soles of the boot were just way too stiff/hard. Just walking around the house, the soles of my feet started to ache. Wouldn’t be able to wear them for any significant duration. Returned them.

Really loved the shoe itself and wished that they were a good fit but sadly, no. Very narrow and uncomfortable to the point of being painful. Womens shoes are not made for all sizes of women's feet. Seems the shoe industry thinks that women have dainty narrow or slightly bigger than narrow and that's about it. WRONG!! One size does NOT fit all! As we get older, sometimes our feet get a little wider. Sometimes we get a bunion or an injury but....we still need good comfortable hiking shoes. Women's shoe sizes need to be upped to Extra WIDE and EXTR-EXTRA WIDE. I have currently purchased 6 pair of hiking boots and have had to return all six because of poor sizing. Even "wide" isn't wide enough.

I wore them in the house and they fit well and felt fine. Then I went for a hike in them and my achilles tendinitis flared up so badly that I had to turn around and abort the hike. VERY disappointed. I had the Sawtooth low and no issues at all. These are going back.

I ordered a size larger due to prior reviews on these boot. But, I’m sad to say the size 9 is still too small. The whole fit seems tight and small. Disappointed.

I should have ordered a full size larger. I like the hook closure, but not the flat shoelaces. The boot was hard to get on my foot. I am not ordering the next half size up because of the shoelaces and that I had such a hard time getting it on my foot.

The ankles are so stiff, just trying them on was painful. I even tried to manipulate the leather to soften them but it didn't help. I've never worn them because of this.
