So happy I bought this, took this to Bali and was caught in a rainstorm, everything stayed dry. Was the perfect bag for backpacking for 3 weeks.

Just wrapping up 12 international travel and this backpack was so convenient on the travels. It provided enough room for me to pack winter clothes and supplies needed. It fit in overhead bin of every airline flight. It was comfortable to wear as we weaved through airports and we're making our way around places. With the variety of pockets and zippers, but not too many, it helped me stay organized. So glad I invested in this backpack.

While the travel backpack is designed with traveling photographers in mind (I'm not), I was won over by the versatility and adaptability of this pack. Big pros are the magnetic stow-away shoulder straps and the easy compression/expansion options. If I had to give a criticism, I would say that the ID card is hard to pull out and is concealed too well- can I really expect a baggage handler to examine my lost bag closely enough to find my info? Probably not. Not a big deal, I just attached a more noticeable tag.

In my efforts to be a better and lighter traveler, I recently purchased several items from Peak Design, including the Wash pouch, Shoe Pouch and Travel Backpack 45L all in sage. All items are more than satisfactory and very high quality, but I especially love the Travel Backpack. Firstly, I love the sage color, abundance of pockets, and that the backpack can be expanded and collapsed easily according to my needs. It was comfortable wearing it as a I commuted to the airport by train and was very easy to stow away in the overhead bin. I have since purchased the 35L Travel Duffle in sage and am waiting for the Packable tote to come in sage. I am really satisfied with my color coordinated set, the quality of the products and the clever designs.

I received my travel bag as a birthday gift more than a year ago, and I have used it every single day ever since. I am quite picky about my backpacks, and very often I find that most backpacks just lack all or some of the features that I need and want. Well, this backpack simply has it all: place for a laptop, a large/spacious main compartment that can be expanded, a small easy access pocket on the top, side pockets for water bottles or other things, side access zippers, very durable shoulder straps, practical organization spaces.... and a very robust material and design. Originally, I had planned to use this bag for traveling only (as soon as I got it, I went on a month-long trip in Asia). But I liked it so much that I started using it for my regular daily needs. Now I take it to work every day, and I simply love it. I must say, it has taken the toll of daily use incredibly well, because after more than a year of heavy use, it is in perfect condition. It has seen rain, snow, beach, mountains, frequent grocery shopping, biking, football training... I mean, it is really good. Some people complain that it is a bit too large for a daily backpack, but to me this is actually a great feature. I need the space for daily things. I use local transportation to go everywhere, and I need my stuff with me. One true downside is that it tends to be heavier than a regular backpack. But due to its robustness, I happily take that tradeoff. Bottomline, I absolutely recommend it!

I used this pack for short and long term business travel, before we embarked as a family on a year-long trip around the world. It functioned perfectly for business carry-on, able to stow with room to spare gym gear and trainers, alongside business wear, laptop, cables etc. But it was really purchased with the round-the-world journey in mind. We are travelling hand baggage only so everything I need for four seasons, as well as laptop, cables and adapter for the whole family are transported and protected in the Peak Design Travel Backpack. It has performed perfectly, with every chameleon-like aspect of the design being used and becoming vital. Backpack straps and waist belt have been stowed for boarding planes, trains, busses and taxis. The multiple grab options have been invaluable when rapidly existing public busses. The expandable bottle pockets don't intrude into the main volume, meaning they have swallowed anything from water bottles to damp swimming gear and more. Lash straps have secured damp towels. The pack has proved durable too. On the couple of occasions it has had to be checked into prop plane holds it has shown no wear. And it even stood up to being used as ballast for the clothes line in the Omani desert. Is there nothing this bag can't handle? Some of the best gear just functions well. This pack functions so well that it is enhancing the journey.

I'm wanted a bag that I could use for work, travel and play, this bag is perfect. The ability to scale up and scale down the capacity is fantastic as I use less for commuting compared to long distance travel. The quality is excellent and it just feels great overall. You will find with this bag that all of the attention to detail and quality make it a great bag to own. I am happy that I spent more than I usually would for the quality that is provided.

Took it on a sailing trip, then on a land safari, and ended up camping with it, all on the same vacation. Strapped my tent and sleeping bag to it. Kept all my stuff organized and dry. Loved being able to tuck away the shoulder straps when not using them. The perfect light travel backpack. Thank you Peak Design!

I took this away recently for it's first trip and was very happy. All the pockets proved useful for all the cables, electronic equipment and clothes. I found it comfortable to wear and find the ability to put the straps away really useful so they aren't getting in the way. Overall I'm looking forward to using it more on future trips.

Really impressed with this bag. It's very flexible in its use and the ability to expand and shrink its capacity is fantastic. I use it to commute on a motorbike and then plane and its perfect for that as it is waterproof and can be strapped to the back of the bike and then fits as hand luggage. Very sturdy. My only tiny minor point is that the ability to reduce the capacity is a great idea but the poppers could either do with being stringer or more of them as it doesn't take a huge amount of force to release them. Fortunately the design is good enough and the fabric stiff enough that it pretty much holds its shape without them.

This backpack is incredible. It took a little while to come in the mail but it was worth the wait. They truly thought of everything for this pack!! I took it on my most recliner trip and it felt so good to have all my belongings in one place. It's the only bag I'll ever need! The amount of stuff that fit was like marry poppins magic bag

So far I am very happy with this purchase, yes it is expensive but the backpack is worth it. Every little detail is though out and so many small details make it truly versatile. The only thing I would have liked is a way to separate the main compartment then using it for everyday carry so that not everything just flies around. Otherwise superb product.

This pack has served well for hunting and forestry field work. It has held up well in rugged conditions and is large enough to haul all of my expedition essentials.

So much space! I do wish it had more organization pockets/compartments since it is large shell but man does it hold a lot. I've used it for on location shoot 1-2 day overnight trips, work tools, it's pretty awesome and x durable.

I've now used this on half a dozen trips of different types and lengths, from weekend to 10-day trips, and it never ceases to amaze. The main pocket holds so much, and every time I am impressed with how much room remains in the smaller pockets even once the main one is crammed full. If I had one complaint, it is probably that I wish it were easier to access the front pocket while the main compartment is open but has stuff in it; when I'm packing, I have to close the main pocket and flip the backpack in order to get at the front pocket. I'm not sure how you'd fix this problem, other than moving the zipper for the back pocket up so when it's open, the walls of the back compartment are on the bottom, not the top. But that may not work for other reasons, and it's far from a dealbreaker.

The Travel Backpack 45 L from Peak Design convinced me with its robust quality and the many well thought-out features. I commute a lot for work and the backpack is the ideal companion for me on every occasion. For the daily commute, the side pockets are incredibly practical to have a drinking bottle and umbrella within reach. With the straps and the many attachment-slots you can attach almost anything nearly everywhere. The backpack's size can also be expanded or reduced depending how many things I need to pack. The hip belt, which can be folded easily in and out, allows you to distribute the weight of the backpack from your shoulders to your hips. This is extremely helpful, especially when you have packed heavy things. With the handles (on 5 of 6 sides!) you can always carry the backpack properly. And with three openings, you can pack the backpack perfectly or access your luggage on the go. I first thought, I wouldn't need a backpack with that many features, but on day one, the backpack convinced me otherwise. Once you have this backpack, you won't want to use any other backpack. In summary, the backpack leaves nothing to be desired - the Travel Backpack 45 L is the backpack for all occasions.

I love the flexibility of this bag. With the camera cubes I can effectively pack my gear and even use the cubes as a sling. The ability to compress or expand the bag in useful ways is a plus as well. Very happy with my purchase.

I bought this a couple months ago for my trip through Central America and a few sailing adventures I had planned. I am six weeks in and it has held up perfectly. The only complaint I have is the main divider layer just got in the way, so I unzipped it and kept it rolled up the entire time. It would be nice if Peak Design could make it detachable? I use the little pockets to stash little things like money, chapstick, keys, phone, passport etc. and they are very secure and out of sight. It holds my rain jacket, computer, chargers, umbrella, drone bag, the Peak Design toiletry bag, medium size compression PD bag which holds my 10 shirts, 4 shorts and 1 pair of pants. It also holds the small PD compression bag with 8 pairs of undies and 7 pairs of socks. These could probably hold more clothes inside them honestly. It rained so much in Central America, however the material held up and everything remained dry inside. It does weigh more than hiking-specific bags and the shoulder straps don't have any elastic cushion/shock absorption, so they aren't the most comfortable. It does get quite hot in the sun, but other than that it has served me quite well. I never had to use the expansion zippers. If I were back-packing in nature, carrying gear such as a tent, hiking/climbing gear etc, I would go with a more light weight pack. Since I stayed in hotels and hostels and sailboats, it was perfect for my situation. I plan to keep using this for the next few months while I continue traveling to different countries. 10/10 would recommend for regular travel, business travel and to school/work!!! The last picture with the blue neck pillow attached was when I first packed it before leaving my house. The rest were taken yesterday at the airport.

I originally purchased this bag for a 3 week trip to Europe after watching a million PackHacker reviews. It was a great fit for Europe and held all of our stuff with room to spare. The pop out hip straps are one of my favorite features because they hide away so smoothly if not needed. I actually had this bag stolen from my apartment and I just re-bought it for regular travel (weekend trips or work trips) and am loving it again!

I have been using my Peak Design bag almost every day for my daily commute to school, carrying my A7III with a 24-70mm, a 70-200mm, and a 16" Macbook Pro. While it seems like a normal bag, the inside is full of features that really make it a great functional bag. The camera cube integration, as well as all the organizers, make sure all of my stuff is safe and sound. The clamshell opening makes everything easy to pack and organize but you still use it as a normal top-entry bag as well. The straps are thick and comfy and the hardware everywhere is super nice. On top of all that, I ride a motorcycle every day and find it very comfy on rides from 10 minutes to 3 hours. The fabric is easily cleanable and everything has held up great so far. If you are hesitant about this bag, I would highly recommend it.

I bought this bag as a flight bag for work/light travel bag and it is amazing. The various snaps and zippers allow the bag to compress to a smaller size, while maintaining its look. The pockets and compartments are smartly placed and work well. My fav bag by far

My old camera backpack finally gave out and I needed to change things up. I LOVE the Peak 45L. The ability to change the bag up where needed from small gear and clothing to all gear is fantastic. The look and design are awesome.
