I bought this backpack because of all the thoughtful design features. The top selling features for me are the clamshell opening to access the main compartment and the expandable/compressible storage. Unzipping the extension zipper and having that extra 10L of space makes a huge difference for the end of my trip when I totally end up picking up extra things and need more room. The foldable hip belts are a game changer. I like the external handles, there are multiple ways to grip your bag on the go which makes it so convenient. The construction of the bag is so sturdy and the material is durable, I don't worry about tearing or much damage even when I check my backpack for some flights. Packing the bag is so easy with the clamshell opening, you can instantly see everything inside your backpack by opening the main zip. All the pockets inside keep everything organised and eliminate the need more multiple smaller bags or pouches to organise things. For example, I have one pocket in the bag dedicated to my first aid stuff so I don't need a separate small bag to hold it as everything fits in the generous sized pockets built into the bag. There are multiple ways to access the main compartment, from the back of the bag, the front and even from both sides! This is handy when you only need to access something from certain places in the bag. Like the laptop sleeve in the back of the bag, you don't have to open the front up to access, just zip the back open and you can quickly pull out your laptop. It's small details like that which really add up to this being the best travel backpack I've owned. My only critique is the limited colour range. I would prefer a more feminine colourway. I chose the green and it's alright but not my favourite colour choice. But the bag is so good I can overlook the colour.

I bought this bag for an overseas trip and had the opportunity to try it out on a week-long business trip. I shoved more than a week's worth of professional clothes, shoes, jewelry, makeup, laptop, books, and other stuff into the bag and it held up like a champ. I especially liked the expandable front that I needed at the end of the trip to tuck the tchotchkes I was given into it. It still fit in the overhead.

While the product is described as a travel backpack I've found it's design to perfectly allow my to travel around London with everything I'd ever need for my freelance work. It's adaptable size makes it perfect for fitting those few extra pieces you just wouldn't be able to fit in a normal back pack and the waterproof material keeps me certain that none of my valuables will get damaged, beautiful backpack, super happy

I love this backpack, especially having the middle pouches be accessible both from the main compartment as well as the secondary compartment is great. The VelCro-Strap to secure the laptop came in clutch a few times, because I had to lay out equipment on a table quickly and was comfortable with letting the laptop-compartment hang down from the table. I like the color (sage), it just started collecting some white marks which is a bit odd. They aren't very obvious though. A small gripe I have is that the front buckle to secure the bag in front of your chest is not very secure, and I've had it happen on several occasions that I actually lost it when retrieving the bag from a bag compartment. It would be great if you could lock that connecting strap more securely to the bag on one of the two main straps (don't know the specific words). Also, a magnetic solution like on the db Ramverck would be much appreciated in a future version.

I use the Travel Backpack 45 as Weekender and short term travel backpack. It is super durable and comftiy to wear. It survived a robbery attempt, where they tried to cut through it, but without a chance and only a little scratch was left.
Additionally the peak design support/warranty is fabulous - never experienced a similar service before.
Love it.

Every time I dig into the details of this bag, I discover something new. As a designer, I appreciate how much time, effort, and care went into designing this bag. The details were obsessed over. I bought mini clips for the zippers to make them more difficult to open without adding an additional lock, only to find out PD had already thought of that and built in ways to make that happen. I couldn't figure out how to keep my monopod for tilting or maybe falling out of the water bottle pocket only to learn that PD thought of that too with the added straps and tie points for them. Honestly, I'm just so incredibly impressed by the design of this bag. Kudos!

Details are well thought out. Lots of little pockets for organization. Large backpack but can collapse to a smaller size easily. It is a little heavy but waist strap greatly helps reduce the load on the shoulders.

Bought the pack a month ago, in anticpation of travelling next year. I have tried it out on several trips since the and am amazed by how well constructed and thought out the backpack is. No problem getting it on to my flights (British Airways). All in all a wonderful piece of kit, that has now become my go to pack for weekend and longer term travel.

This backpack is truly amazing and it's my absolute go to travel bag. Yes, it may be expensive but it's absolutely worth it if you plan to use this bag frequently. The amount of space is fantastic, the pockets are large, and the material is quality. I've packed for domestic and international trips exceeding 5 days without having to take a check in bag. I've used it to travel to Hawaii, Boston, California, and London for 3-7 days. Combine this bag with a space bag for your clothes and you can easily fit 7+ days worth of clothes for a trip in here. The only thing I will say is it's a heavy backpack when empty compared to others. I think it's about 5lbs empty. I'm a big person so it's not a problem though. Plus the waist harness and chest strap help mitigate that weight if you pack a lot.

This is an outstanding backpack, that looks stylist but more importantly functional. there is a large number of innovative features, such as pack away straps and I particularly like the rear entry clam shell design

I did the usual fun internet research on travel backpacks and it was either this or Tropicfeel. I splashed out on this, along with packing cubes, the tech pouch, the shoe pouch and the wash bag. Not cheap, so it had better be worth it.
It was.
Excellent quality, lots of nifty practical design features, easy to pack, good for longish trips as well as short ones. A bit of delay in obtaining some of the accessories, but when the reviews say this is the best - which by and large they do - they are correct. I also have a Tropicfeel in the family and it's excellent, but this wins with the 'family' of accessories and the general funkiness. Well done Peak Design (and their camera gear is outstanding too)

Great backpack, I'm traveling using it as my carry-on, no issues with Avianca, British airways and KLM so far. It is sturdy backpack, I like the structure and fits my laptop perfectly, 15" but width of a 17"
All the Access and compartments adds great versability
And knowing that I have lifetime warranty givers me peace of mind

Just completed my first trip with the bag. Found the backpack straps a breeze to stow and un-stow--even with the bag packed full (other bags make it tough to re-stow straps when the bag is full). I was pleased with how compact and streamlined the bag is when they were stowed, and the many small pockets and stash points made it easy to hide a tracking tag, along with my many little doodads.

I bought this bag after watching and reading numerous review on travel backpacks. So far I have only been able to used it one time on a trip to Austin, TX, but I was truly impressed by it's flexibility, and what it was capable of carrying. The design/engineering, materials and workmanship are first class. I am planning another trip to Dallas/Ft. Worth in about two weeks, and a trip to France in early 2023. This is the backpack I will be using. I also have one medium packing cube, two small packing cubes, the wash pouch and a shoe pouch. The quality of these items is excellent (just like the backpack), and they function great with the backpack.

I've recently purchase the Peak Design Travel Back Pack 45L for a Europe trip traveling through several countries via several modes of transportation. The Travel Back Pack made the trip so much easier with the design functionality of a carryon suitcase and the versatility of a back pack. The ability to quickly pack and go allowed for more time to explore locations such as Berlin, Germany; Brussels, Belgium; London, UK; Cardiff, UK; & Liverpool; UK. The Travel Back Pack in the 40L configuration fit in every storage location on the planes, trains and automobiles with ease! Highly recommend this Travel Back Pack on any backpacking trip or even a day hike as it is so versatile and comfortable too.

For about three years I've been eyeing this backpack, not only this one but many others online. Trying to decide what would work best for my travels and that actually looks good!! After a long and ridiculous process of saving the backpack in my carts when I would visit the Peak website I stopped being dumb and bought it, it's been one of the best items I have ever bought so far. This backpack hits all the requirements anyone could need, it looks amazing,it's extremely versatile, rugged and life proof and with some peak packing cubes you can travel anywhere with ease.

I bought this bag 3 years ago now, and it has been the best bag I ever had. It is well built, and the number of really useful features makes it super practical for everyday use. At first I thought it was gonna be too big for my everyday carry bag, but I found myself using it on a daily basis, to commute, to work, to go on a hike, to take photos etc. I particularly like the little pockets on the sides of the bag, which allow me to put my wallet in a very secure but accessible place. The fact that it can expand is also very good, allowing for some week trips with one bag only.
The only downside for me were the zippers, which wore out with time (and intensive use). But the customer service did an excellent job at solving my problem.

I bought this bag for a 10 day trip in Europe. It easily fitted in all my stuff, with a bit of room to spare. I was travelling about by plane and bus and it was comfortable to carry and I had no issues with taking it as carryon with Ryanair. The quality of the bag is excellent and the features are all well thought out. I received several compliments from people on how the bag looked too.

I used to travel with a backpack and a wheely bag, or a backpack and a small duffle on short trips--now I have one bag that does it all! I've only had it a month and have used it a couple times already. It fits overhead and below the seat in front of you. Great for a 3-4 day trip. It is large for a backpack--I'm a 5'5 lady and it feels kinda huge on me, but the straps are adjustable so it is comfortable enough even when it is heavy.
