These would have been good but the top of the shoe at the heel slants in at a funny angle and cuts into the back of my heel/leg. I couldn't size up because the rest of the shoe fit just right. A shame because the heel drop in most running/athletic shoes has become too steep for me in recent years.
At least zappos has a great return policy!

I live in Lone Peaks. I have two pairs for work and various models/sizes for hiking, gym, and everyday use. Only one pair has worn out after hundreds of hiking miles and being slogged through stream crossings (actually the shoe itself is still ok but the insoles are trashed). So I needed a new pair in my backpacking size. This version is way too narrow in the heel and the shoe rubs on the inside of my heel just walking across the house. This was once the best shoe ever, now ruined. Can't Altra just make the previous version again? Why do they feel the need to change a successful product? Explains why they are on sale for cheap right now.

I purchased the wide version after wearing my Lone Peak 5's to threads. THIS IS A TERRIBLE DOWNGRADE FROM PREVIOUS LONE PEAK MODELS. Here's why:
1) I specifically purchased the wide version to accommodate my 2E/4E width feet. Older models fit, but these are NOT as wide. I expected the "wide" to actually be wide like they used to be.
2) The volume decreased with this model. The top of my foot gets crushed and I lose circulation because they are much lower volume than previous Lone Peak models.
3) They are not true to size like previous Lone Peak models. I felt like the arch was in the wrong place and I had to jump up half a size - AND THEY STILL WEREN'T WIDE ENOUGH!
~The only reason they do not get one star is because the tread is phenomenal. You stick to everything and the grip is great. I'm sure they would fall apart within a hundred miles or so like all Altras, but I can't stick it out that long to find out. My feet are miserable.

I've had 2 other lone peaks and loved them. They saved my feet and knees and helped recover and train after injuries. The last pair I had was the 4s and I had to go down by an entire size for the 6. This would have been fine but I waited for months for a special order of size 5.5. I am now between sizes. The real issue is that if I go beyond 3km I get blisters on the inside of my arches, and I have never gotten blisters with running shoes before. Additionally, the lacing has also changed from the 4s which affects how the foot sits in the shoe. Overall, very disappointed. I hope the old fit comes back.

When I started training for a 1/2 marathon in these shoes everything was fine. But now my feet are sliding around too much and my toes are getting destroyed. Maybe the stretched out? I tried to return them for a smaller size but I am outside the window of exchange. I'm very disappointed because I was loving Altra and this was my third pair in this shoe. It's fine for walking but definitely not a good training shoe.

These are by far the best shoes I've ever bought. They instantly cured my foot and knee issues. However the grips and cushion were completely worn down within 4 months. I'm so disappointed.

The fit was good except for the front which looked very wide and felt like there was too much room in the toes.

There was one major issue that resulted in returning these shoes. While they looked like they had a wider toe box, they were so tight on the big toe area that they were terribly uncomfortable. I have never had this issue with athletic shoes before, so very disappointing.

I returned the shoes because my toes were sore after wearing them for a few hours. Poorly finished seams inside the shoes rubbed the top of my toes. 2 stars due to natural design of the forefoot.

I have had these shoes barely over a month and wear on morning walks around the neighborhood. The tread is already showing wear. Unless a change is made to the material used for the sole, I will not buy again. For the price I paid, I expect a longer lasting shoe. I seem many such comments.

I never loved the LP until the LP 5. I wore those things over 300 miles until my legs started feeling more fatigue and realized they were done. I ordered the 6 and took it out of the box to try on and immediately knew I wouldn't love them. They are very hard and the cushion of the 5 is no more. I sent them back. Even in a more minimal trail shoe like the Superior, I felt more cushioned than these.

Everything fits but the heel- why is it so floaty? I ordered a regular width and usually order wide but there was no way. I figured on the trail with hot feet, if I heel locked them, theyd be fine, they're not. Shin splint city now. Also, why get rid of the gaited loop in front? Wicked annoying having to fight a stupid lace pocket. I hate these shoes.

After many miles, the upper portion still looks new. But, the laces are way too long and they refuse to stay tied. The heel portion of both shoes has worn flat into the sub-sole. The sole will be worn out way before the upper is. I will most likely purchase another pair because the fit is remarkable, but doing so knowing that the life span is ridiculously short. I would recommend them to a friend only if they have a fat foot like mine.

I use the shoe for daily 4 mile walks and some easy hiking trails. The support is not as good as the same shoe I purchased three years ago. Tends to make my pronation feel more pronounced, and does not offer the support I was used to having in my other Altra shoes. I may try other models, but will definitely not purchase the Lone Peak again. Very disappointing.

It looks like the usual toe box of Lone Peak are getting narrower from one version to updated ones, even feel shorter too. The horizontal loop at the back of shoes doesn't help with anything, when wearing your shoes in, it's in the way, you can't see the loop, needless to say to find it, vertical loop is much better as finger can go in from the side-way.

Was disappointed after reading all the positive reviews including my daughter's. I developed a pain in the back of my knee after wearing them. Tried a few times and it happened every time.
I am grateful for the return policy

I loved the fit, especially the wide toe box. I also loved the colors, which I can't say about most Altra shoes. But the grippy bottoms which must be good for hiking were not good for me walking on my hardwood floors. The shoes caught on the floor and caused me to fall. I am trying to find Altra shoes without grippy soles but with the original foot shape and/or in wide.

Altra has the worst customer service and they do not stand behind their product. There was a defect in half of the heel after having it for a month. They said it was natural wear and tear. I tried to ask them if their product only lasts one month and they responded that I could buy another pair for 15% off. It is an obvious defect. Most likely not a big deal to a corporation, but they have lost a customer.

I do fast walking for at least 5 miles daily and these made my feet and hips hurt so bad that I was in bed all the next day. I tried them once more and same result. Not sure why trail shoes can't have cushion support as well.

The shoes looked really nice but were too wide in the front. I returned them over two weeks ago and apparently they have not been received yet as I have not seen a refund on my account. I am hoping to see something soon. I really wish they would have fit as they seemed to be a great shoe and Altras I have had before very good shoes.

I purchased three pairs of the woman's lone peak 6 , paying full price. I alternated between the three. After barely two months, the material is already wearing out . I only use them to walk the dog and around the house. I was told this is normal "wear and tear" and not under warranty. Imagine if I used them for running?? After spending over $350.00, I will have to think long and hard before purchasing these sneakers again

Waste of money as so flimsy the are destroyed in less than 6 months with minimal trips (about 8). Save your $$ and get a pair of topos instead.

My 4 year old Altra Lone Peak shoes which I love were wearing out so I ordered the same size and style. The shoes I received where shorter, narrower and the shoelaces were so short I could barely tie them. Talk about "cheaping out". I sent them back and will never buy another pair again.

I have been using various Altra shoes for many years. I use my Torin3 for mowing the lawn since it is in good shape but I wore the bottoms smooth. The Lone Peak 6s ( 2 pair to alternate) are a full 3/8 inch narrower than my Torin3 3s. My little toes are killing me along with my ankles because after just a few months I feel like I am walking on the outside edge of the shoe. The Timp 1.5s ( 2 pair again) ripped all across the toe area on both shoes and on my friends in a few months. I asked for a discount when I ordered the Lone Peaks due to the rips on the Timps and was told no. Altra product and customer service , like the width , has diminished over the last 3 years. They do not stand behind their products and the products have become poor in quality.
